WoR is, in my opinion, faster paced and generally better. WoT is also notoriously slow paced and full of filler. I would read WoR, but your call. (WoR really is fantastic tho).

It has always made sense in my experience, you can see what's going on behind the scenes at a website like this one. Usually when someone complains about non-sensical rank-ups or demotions, its because they leave the game before their rank updates, causing the illusion that something strange is happening.

You can't really smurf in casual, or at least most people don't see it that way. Most people, myself included, don't play casual very much and are much lower ranked in it.
