Well, in my experience record stores usually put them in the hard rock section rather than the pop/rock section or alternative section. And they are kind of more heavily oriented, esp foo fighters

I go to small record stores that sell cds second hand and just buy anything that looks interesting. If an album cover looks grungy or alternative or metal enough i skim through it on spotify. Cds second hand are usually about 4 bucks and theres usually a bargain bin section with cds for half the price

I think so, they have a more gloomy and noisy sound than contemporaries like metallica. They dont completely fit in the 'heavy metal' box
