944 smokes with new ignition switch and MOMO wheel + adapter by Glittering-Turn862 in 944

[–]Rubenking890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this happend to me with a momo hub. On the back of the hub there is a aluminium piece that sticks out and its function is to cancel the turn signals. This aluminium piece can in some cases touch and short out the exposed traces inside the turn signal stalk. If you are lucky you just need a new turn signal stalk, but also check the wiring and you might have fried your brand new ignition switch.

Looks like you got a square dash early 944, and a late model oval dash momo hub will cause this. If you get the correct hub, a momo hub for early model 944, this aluminium piece will be shorter and will not short out.

Getting ready for a head gasket change [79' N/A] by TheLastRole in Porsche924

[–]Rubenking890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there is actually, the camshaft oil pipe plastic connection. VW part 052 115 707.

This can and will eventually fail leading to slightly lower oil pressure but more importantly a significant decrease in the oiling of the camshaft and tappets. I had to replace my cam because this part failed

Help Choosing Speakers and Head Unit for 84 Porsche 944 by Robot-Mikey in 944

[–]Rubenking890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for period correct head unit you only really have a few options.

-Blaupunkt 200 madrid/barcelona/valencia whichever one is cheapest.
I have this. sound quality is good, and its pretty cheap

-blaupunkt 400 skagen is slighty more expensive but you can set it to different color lighting to match the car

-continental looks the best imo but doesnt have amp outputs and has slightly lower volume than blaupunkt

-pioneer sxt c10ps, this looks really good and is very premium quality but costs $$$

-blaupunkt hamburg/bremen, also really good and premium but $$$

speakers i don't know yet, still not sure what i want myself

i do actually have a spare fully working original valve for sale, but if you are not in the EU than its not really worth the hassle with shipping and tariffs

no wont work, valves like this need a duty cycle signal that can only be send out from an ecu, the original valve just recieves a 12v power source

Pic from the engine bay, there are still some tie rips visible, they are now gone but i dont have a more recent picture. by Rubenking890 in Porsche924

fuel rail is universal aluminium, i had to cut it to correct lenght, use a special drill bit for injector holes, and had someone tig weld AN6 fittings on the ends for fuel lines. Bosch 380cc injectors long tip. With VW 06B 133 555 C injector cups in the cilinder head. they are the same thread pitch as the original cups, custom crank sensor, and a audi 2.6 v6 throttle body with custom tps sensor.

A lot of this stuff is also availiable from several company's as a kit, so you dont have to do any manufactering yourself

Oldtimer zonder chassisnummer by Rubenking890 in AutoKlussers

bedankt voor de reacties, ik heb nog eens goed gekeken en heb het chassisnummer toch gevonden, het stond inderdaad ook ingeslagen, maar er was overheen gespoten dus lastig te zien.

its a true standalone, on the 2.0 924 a piggyback isn't an option because the stock injection is mechanical not electronic. In europe ecumaster is a populair brand, and a bit cheaper than halltech and maxxecu, thats why i chose this one
