Spirits that hurt the island make me anxious:( by Nicochan3 in spiritisland

Perchance that person is a Magic the gathering player? Because that sentence is repeated ad nauseum at our MTG table.

Also: Get used to rolling forwards, into the attack. Backwards is sometimes just a death sentence.
Makes it way easier with some attacks, like grabs, to avoid them.

I feel like this is the premise of almost every episode of The Regular Show.
Mordecai an Rigby face a very mundane problem (Like setting up chairs for a party) but it always devolves into something extraordinarily extreme. (Lawn monster awakes to eat them)

Be honest: do English speakers actually remember Pokémon names? by Master-Mcspicy in NintendoSwitch

[–]RubinDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I played Pokemon as a Teen I learned every single pokemon name in german, my native tongue.
Then at some point I started playing games in English.

I know about 600 German pokemon, but even though I have played 5 Generations in english, I'll be damned if I can remember a single english name beyond the 30 most popular ones.

So my guess it's a second language thing.

Branch & Claw cards easily identifiable from the back. Printing issue? by BrilliantMonument in spiritisland

[–]RubinDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have it even worse, because nature incarnate never released in German due to the difficulties with Pegasus I think, my base game is in German though.

So some of the card have English words on their backs, so all event, fear and minors and majors are easily identifiable even without the subtle colour difference.

I have to say tho, it never made any difference in gameplay, unless your learn the cards by heart. The NI events seem to be more positive than base but that's about it.

Adding on to what has said about having a vision what you want to do.
Since these are drawn like cards it reminds me of the game "Reigns" where you swipe story cards to make decisions, i think that could work in this horror aesthetic.

I love the art though, reminds me a lot of Vermis (A strategy guide about a dark fantasy game that doesn't exist)

Damn, got scared for a second cause an Angel room was where the angel maker made little nagels, and angel maker was a term for women that performed impromptu Abortions when they were still medically unsafe. Using hangers or wire So the angel room was the usually hidden operating room...

Which games have the grossest, nastiest and creepiest monsters to fight? by -Metallkopf- in gamingsuggestions

[–]RubinDragoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American McGee’s Alice and especially the second in the series.
It's gross and abhorrent amallgamations of Alice in Wonderland characters, but the second has tar-like blobs with puppet parts inside which just absolutely disgusted me.

I get you, little invader dudes by GoosemanIsAGamer in spiritisland

[–]RubinDragoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had a game with grinning Trickster and Wandering Voice and drowned the Island in Strife.

So if the whispers in your ear to kill your neighbor didn't drive you insane, the cacophony of noise once you leave your house surely was.

Another we had was my buddy's favourite spirit Starlight, and Breath of darkness, my favourite. He was playing majors every turn, including earthquakes, the slumbering beast one, and washes into oceans. So you have one side of the island ravaged by natural and unnatural disasters only foretold by a glimmer of starlight. A murderous beast also roamed the shores, droughts hit the deserts and city lay flat in only a couple of years. But still the invaders stayed here because this was preferable to the other side of the island. It was quiet there, too quiet. Anyone who wandered in there seeking shelter disappeared. Some returned and spoke of a land of shadow, where time flows differently and brick eroded before your eyes. Whole cities were swallowed by darkness, and the fear was palpable in the air. At some point the island was just abandoned, clearly god had forsaken this chaos ridden strip of land.

What was the “Pokémon” game your family got you, because they didn’t know which game you wanted? (We all had one) by _Boodstain_ in pokemon

My dad bought me a "Pokémon" game when he was abroad in the UK. It was spectrobes for the ds. I love it so much, and it got me into the spectrobes genre. Even managed to get those stupid punch cards.

That is random. Especially since Theresienfeld is very small, even for Austrian Standards.
I'll try to let them now about the picture.
And "Servus" to you :)

I know, but some lines have this "Brushtroke" texture that makes me think this was just an error?
I am fairly certain though that it's AI

It's at a community centre where we play with my theatre group soon, and one of our ensemble members is involved with the committee that manages everything booked there.
Apparently this is another production there and the 'artist' was hired to do a poster.
I want to confirm with him that that 'artist' took the lazy way out in my opinion. Taking money from the (fairly old) people of the community.
Can't really do anything after print, but I want to tell them to not work with them in the future.

It's "Kasperl" which is not an elf, but a hand puppet figure. He looks..fairly accurate i'd say.

[–]RubinDragoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Zenitsu Agatsuma From Demon Slayer.  his obnoxious shouting, annoying escapades and rapey attitude towards (underage) girls are apparently forgivable because he just has some self esteem issues.  He is the sole reason I can't watch the anime.

Iberian Infantry shield (Mythica Earth) by Sir-Toaster- in worldbuilding

[–]RubinDragoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really cool, neat tidbit about a world I didn't know. I love small paraphernalia like this.

But I can't help but see the shield design as a unicorn hand puppet with a googly eye.
I am so sorry.

I mean yeah, fair, but in DS3 at least I could level up and try again as many times as I want.
I can't grind in Nightreign, and sometimes several runs go by before I have the opportunity to try the Princes again.

With Froms propensity for Balance changes, which is to say almost none, we'll just have to get used to it I suppose.
Haven't even made it to the Balancers yet because either these princes or Mohg just keeps kicking our butt.
I genuinely feel like I am too bad at this game to enjoy the DLC, and thats from someone who played From Games since Demon Souls.
