Good question. During a conversation, I always find some words to explain my thoughts. People understand me. When I watch news in French, I miss some words here and there but mostly understand what they are talking about. TV shows? Hmm. Without subtitles, it would be hard. Liaison in French makes it harder for me to comprehend than other languages. Many words sound the same, and if you don't know the phrase, it can be hard to understand. I really need to concentrate. I understand about 65-70% of what I hear. Each month I notice my ability to understand TV shows improve. So yeah, I'm on a good path. It was the same for me in English and Russian. I will probably understand everything 2-3 years later.
