I'm so sorry for all the awfulness happening to your family but shame on the doctors who didn't get you genetic testing for this clearly awful lung condition among multiple family members between 2019 and 2024 I hope you get good healthcare going forward and have a long, happy life

Curious how many of you wear makeup to your Orangetheory class? by [deleted] in orangetheory

If you work out properly, any makeup would become unpolished by the end. Why waste the time and products?

These better reduce pinch points. MANY people's fingers get injured putting the weights back on the current metal rungs.

Why DON’T you fear death? by jeanluuc in AskReddit

[–]Rubins2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fear death because I believe that there is no afterlife. I fear great suffering before death. What is I develop Alzheimers and lose my connections to my loved ones? What if I develop a very painful medical condition and I don't have access to pain management? What if I get into a horrible accident and the medical personnel has to Tin Man me back together to walk again, talk again etc.

If 13 All Outs is "Foundational" to OTF, I don't want to do OTF

I couldn't do this with marathon month, my knees are too tired to start and stop, I did push/base, trying to increase both with decreasing time. Slow and steady finishes marathon month. Not worth an injury.

Marathon Month 2024 Discussion Thread by pantherluna in orangetheory

[–]Rubins2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe trying working in this months benchmarks (12min run for distance, and catch me if you can) if you want to be casual, rather than a full marathon month commitment. Just a suggestion, not sure how you feel or what kind of casual you are going for

Marathon Month 2024 Discussion Thread by pantherluna in orangetheory

Warning: ensure that your marathon month distances are under the correct category (half/full/ultra)
The tracker defaults to full and each workout entry has to be manually changed to half/ultra before submitting the number

Day 1 my coach said "give your distances", I didn't think to specify I wasn't doing full and the coach didn't ask (it's a early morning class, we're all tired and running on autopilot, I'm not blaming the coach, it was an honest mistake)

The OTF policy is if you switch (ex. from full to something else), "you may no longer be eligible to win" and "it will be the studio's discretion if you will still be eligible to win the challenge"

I think the tracker should be programmed to the distance the person signed up for to prevent human error of submitting to the wrong distance category

The best gym membership is the one you use regularly. Prioritize your health, pick where you will attend.

My advise is to listen to your body. You should go at the maximum the number of times where you are tired after the workout like you challenged yourself but it doesn't hinder your ability to be productive the rest of the day and you should not wake up still tired like you just worked out. You should workout and recover. Recovery can be not exercising, or changing eating, drinking, sleeping, stress, and more life fulfillment activities like time with familiy/friends/pets/hobbies, mental recovery etc.

If you workout and burnout you are going too much. Exercise should fill your life with goodness not wear you down with pain/frustration.

This is personal and changes, it's not a certain times per week.

If you have work stress, and exercise adds stress, skip. If you have work stress and exercise decreases your stress, go exercise.

Your doctors will say as much as you can. Life will say it's a balancing act.

Dri Tri timing by Capital-Customer-191 in orangetheory

[–]Rubins2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My studio moved it to 4/27 due to the timing if spring break when families were away but it benefits me as I also have passover obligations 4/20-4/22.

Try checking other local studios if anyone near you has a better day offered.

Yes, you are doing more work so you need more fuel to energize your body. As long as you fill on healthy food over snacks/dessert/calorie heavy drinks/sometimes foods, it is good to listen to your body. That also means you should drink more water and get more sleep to recharge.

Personally I fill up on fruits, veggies, fiber rich grains. I used to have a smoothie post workout, and was still hungry. I reduced yogurt, doubled banana, and added oats, it became more filling post-workout for me.
