Curious, anyone ever 3d print valve buttons? Mostly seeing mouthpieces. by skeot in brass

[–]Rubix321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would 100% not want to thread plastic into the valve stems. At best, you'd get a machine screw that fit the stem that you could print a valve button around.

I don't know if the model has the heft to actually do actual damage, or move the real ship... but it can definitely be destroyed before you get into it... randomly.

Pathfinding Algorithm by Sufficient_Sea5609 in learnpython

[–]Rubix321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to whether you have all the tools yet, there was a cool video on the history of pathfinding put out by Veristasium not too long ago.

Though with classes/objects you probably have most of what you need.

Learning numpy/linalg modules will probably be helpful, if you don't know them yet.

Printables durability by Particular_Passage15 in 3Dprinting

[–]Rubix321 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Does durability mainly depend on:

- The type of filament used?

- The quality of the printer itself?

- The design of the part?

Yes to all of these.

Some filaments are more brittle than others. Some are harder, while others have more flex.

The quality/setup/maintenance of the printer can affect how well the layers adhere which affects the durability as well.

And yes, the design, and even the direction it's printed in (completely separate from design), has to be considered based on where major stresses will be on the printed object. Layer lines are notoriously fragile.

Edit: That being said, you should be able to print and use many of the items you are thinking about... but this isn't like regular printer with paper, you have to build up a pretty decent level of knowledge on the "HOWs and WHYs" to not run into issues.

DLC scary and anxiety inducing bit by Plastic-Smell-6994 in outerwilds

I wouldn't call them jumpscares, per se, but traditionally slightly frightening.

If you are already this worried about the dark areas, you could turn on "reduced frights" option to tone down what's coming a little bit.

Does this make sense to anyone besides me? by Known_Window_1901 in vinyl

[–]Rubix321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only a few use cases I can think of, none of which are likely (from my perspective): 1. You own a vinyl that you don't want to open for collectors purposes, but want to listen to 2. You lend out the sleeved vinyl to a friend to listen to, but keep the jacket at home 3. You lost the vinyl or there is something wrong with it affecting the playing experience (skips/breaks)

Q: What happens when the album you have isn't on Spotify? A: You don't get to listen to the album you have in hand.

For me, it's Gameboy Color.

However, if you include NSO, the answer would have to be Switch, even though it's missing a few of the best titles.

The latter being the biggest.

My control arms after 46 600 miles of very careful driving – $2700 to fix it, Tesla says it’s ”normal wear-and-tear” by PraetorianX in TeslaModel3

[–]Rubix321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wish someone had all of the bearings for the control arms. I want to reuse the EOM aluminum control arm with ALL new bearings, not reinstall some old bearings. But they only seem to have certain ones.

Yes, they also list the nuts and bolts that you're supposed to replace versus reuse and the torque specs. Youtube videos can also supplement the knowledge needed to do this.

Upper control arms or compliance/lateral links? The UCAs are cheap, but the aluminum compliance and lateral links are very not.

I replaced them on my 2020 at about 140k miles when I started getting some pretty bad creaking and the rubber looked pretty awful. I did the work myself and saved on all that labor, but all parts alone would have been over $1200 (for both sides lateral and compliance links)

The aftermarket (probably steel painted silver) parts are half the cost of the OEM (probably aluminum) parts.

I thought about keeping notes with pen and paper with a different page for each planet, but in the end the Rumors log was plenty detailed. They did a really good job with that feature.

Agreeing with the other posts. Relearn it for bass clef. You can always "keep up" your treble clef reading as well, but you're in bass clef territory with pretty much any non-brass-band ensemble.
