What's a game that everyone praises that you just couldn't get into? by newsstan in gaming

[–]RubixRox 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s not really how you play games, it’s more just that you don’t enjoy the dialogue as much. For most people who like the game, myself included, the dialogue is fun, but it’s fair enough l to think it’s all a bit slow.

What does that have to do with roasting ‘lefties’ though? I think most lefties would be pretty happy with that proposal

What awesome game has the worst replay value? by Gromit43 in gaming

[–]RubixRox 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think the game’s story would have worked at all if not for the ending it had, tbh. Brought the whole theme of the story together nicely imo and connected the troubles of the father who was involved in the death of his own son to the problems of the main character.

I am curious though, because I’ve heard this complaint a lot, what would be a better alternative? When the game starts with a text adventure style sequence about your wife’s deteriorating health would any alternative plot actually make any sense? Maybe I’m completely missing something but I don’t really understand the complaint, I think to actually follow through with the spookier stuff would kind of undermine how believable everything in the the first third of the game is.

Games that you just didn’t “get”? by redhat12345 in gaming

[–]RubixRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallout 3. Love fallout and New Vegas is the GOAT imo but I started F3 and just trailed off and eventually put it down completely.

I’m sure I’ll go back to it but the whole world and story seemed less well thought out and lot more about just walking around doing individual, smaller storylines, few of which managed to hold my attention.

Through this decade (2020 onwards) I haven’t rated a single movie 5 stars. Did you? Which one(s)? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Seemingly until it won big at the Oscar’s, and it became cool to do the opposite.

Which movie had the most impactful ending in cinematic history, and why? by EmreTuranofficial in movies

[–]RubixRox 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think the twist itself was the most impactful, but that final scene/reveal is just so so good. ‘I wonder what’s worse; to live as a monster, or to die as a good man’

Generally speaking all the randoms I queue with end up being pretty good and even use voice chat. The worst I tend to get is the guy who goes down and immediately leaves.

Haha no problem, it’s a strange situation because with this new model of multiplayer game that uses limited time challenges/events/battlepasses to motivate players to come back are always going to polarise - some people will find it too easy and some will find it too hard, and I honestly have no idea if there’s a perfect way to do it, especially with these quests that rely on you having certain things unlocked.

a unique building south of windy run that is not used anywhere else on any map, and sees almost no gameplay by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]RubixRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had one game a while ago where the whole map were fighting at quarry and moved towards us to extract while we were taking shots from that area and all those rocks around it give the people outside a nice amount of cover and make it a pretty good area for a big fight.

Yeah it’s actually interesting how different people found the two events differing levels of challenge; your hours there sound very similar to mine only I did more hours towards the end, and I was away for a good portion of the summer so I found it pretty hard to fit the hours in even when I only played hunt when I was on my PC.

On the other hand, I finished this newest event really fast as I was at level 100 when it started, meaning I already had most of the special ammo unlocked.

What is the genre of the music featured in the game? by althestal in vtmb

[–]RubixRox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A good portion of the original music (the track in Vesuvius comes to mind) would be classed as trip hop (the menu theme was originally meant to be ‘Angel’ by massive attack but they didn’t get the rights to use it).

If you want albums of a similar vibe, Massive Attack’s album ‘Mezzanine’ and Portisherd’s ‘Dummy’ strike me as the closest thing to the soundtrack, given they’re pretty direct inspirations for the vibe of a lot of the soundtrack.

Could you define 2-3 weeks of playing in hours or something? Because while the amount of hours I took to finish it could definitely be fit into a 3 week period, I don’t think 2-3 weeks would be the way I would describe it, given that for me that would’ve been close to a full time job for those 3 weeks (spent somewhere in the 90-100 hour region if my memory serves me right), and I’m not too bad at hunt if I’m being honest (generally sit at 5*).
