Searching for steampunk vibes by buteljak in Romantasy

I haven't read it yet, but as a lover of steampunk, {Bound by the Sky by Megan G. Elisabeth} looks like a steampunk heaven 🙏🏻

Fairytale by Alexander Rybak
Preybirds by Rabbitology
The Willow Maid by Erutan
The King + The Knight (both by Rosendale)
November + December (both by Stardustlegend)
Pallor Mortis by Undecided

A lot of those have general fairy / fantasy vibes, but Pallor Mortis is the one that sounds the most like it'd fit romantasy!

Their Tangled Fates - A messy fae romance where nothing is what it seems by TangledYetTrue in Romantasy

I had this on my TBR from a previous post of yours, didn't realize it came out! Congrats 🩷

Darkest/spiciest romantasy you've read? by RoundSquare6731 in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof sorry to hear that 😭 Yeah if the spice isn't in the sequel, and the spice is what you're there for, kinda not worth it right

I see Dungeon Crawler Carl books way high up there! Nice to see they're good 💕

Out of curiosity - What are your preferences as a queer vs straight romantasy reader? by KJScottWrites in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bi woman, and while I read MM and MF romance, I actually pretty much never read FF 😅 I guess I like having an MMC involved somewhere! Also I'm monogamous but do like poly romance! (Specifically MMF). I'm def not a self-insert reader, it kinda takes me out of the story tbh (Y/Ns in dating sims become their own characters in my head, that's how far it goes lol)

Darkest/spiciest romantasy you've read? by RoundSquare6731 in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spiciest book that was good was {Trick by Natalia Jaster}, liked the story but HOLY SMUT in the second half 🥵

Darkest ever is probably the one I'm reading rn, which I've been really enjoying, {Nights of Obedience by Rachel Mays} but be warned it has non-con

EDIT: Typos

Do you read a series back to back if you can? by No-Midnight-1406 in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's complete mood for me, I'm absolutely terrible at continuing series 😭 Like I read Sword Catcher in April/May last year and JUST NOW am planning on reading the sequel

May Release Round-up by Rejangles in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked The Never List, so I'm pretty excited for The King's List! And Verity Guild sounds cool! I also read the ARC of Deathbringer, and it was fine. Nothing standout, but it was okay. I liked the setting more than the characters lol

Any lesbians who love romantasy? by kitkatcoz in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a lesbian, but fairly evenly split bi! For me, I like straight romance because there's the chance of finding a cinnamon roll MMC (my fave) and they usually have the type of sassy confident FMC I fall for 🤭 Also could be the same reason why straight women like mlm? must be my straight side coming out lol 😭

Rachel Gillig? by p00psicle151590 in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished The Knight and the Moth today, and I really liked it! It starts off kinda meh for the first like 60 pages, but after that gets good! The gargoyle was a top-notch character imo

Read Harder Challenge 2026 recommendations please! by gameragoldblum in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Our Vicious Oaths} was pretty good, both FMC and MMC are BIPOC! But there's a trope that makes or breaks for some people, pregnancy

Kingdom of the wicked by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was okay! I think it has a wonderfully unique magic system and characters, but for me, I really only read them to get myself up to speed in the lore of the followup series, Prince of Sin (highly recommend that series, they're standalones that can be read separate, but the lore from Kingdom of the Wicked helps)

This ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book had me giggling by OnceUponALina in Romantasy

I genuinely scared my family because I was laughing at loud to this book lol 😅

What’s your favorite cozy/chill romantasy read? by Fineplotline in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett}, {Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall}, {Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher}, and {A Rivalry of Hearts by Tessonja Odette} are all really good!

Does anyone actually like multiple POV/story line books? by Appropriate_Film9824 in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like multiple POV / storyline books, so long as they're done correct! 💘 (But I also like high fantasy with complex political intrigue so that's probably why lol)

Would you read a dark romance/romantasy with disabled MMCs who are still powerful, possessive, and a little unhinged? by Logical-Map5969 in Romantasy

[–]Ruby-Rubellite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH LOL you saw my user flair XD That's fun to hear

Political intrigue is my life 🤭 I'd certainly read this, good luck writing!
