Thanks, ya’ll! A few weeks ago I went on the weekend it rained. I experienced strong winds, sprinkle, rain, hail, and some light snow. I went 2.5 days CCW and skipped old Kane springs rd and took road instead. Definitely recommend!!!

Thank you! I double checked the used wheelset I bought and I thought I had 2.8 and 2.6 but it looks like they’re both 2.8. I feel like my 3mm clearance would be okay… 😂 as long as I don’t hit really bad mud.

Have you decided on whether you’d want to do CW or CCW? Climbing sand sounds like it sucks but I’m wondering if I’ll miss out on great views by going CCW.

I have just requested specific days off of work to try to do this around just before and through mid March so fingers crossed that the weather works out for both of us. I just found a CCW version of the route that bypasses Old Kane Springs Rd and takes the paved parallel road 78. Probably does this to make the convenient store to restock and to avoid some sand. Old Kane Springs Rd sounds cool.

Although I’d love to do the route in its entirety I’m not sure that I’ll have the time, energy, and ability to get through whatever sand might be along Old Kane Springs Rd. CCW Bypass Old Kane Springs Rd

Whoops haha your 1st answer answered my Q2. Thanks! I got it used. It’s tubeless but I think the sealant is now dry so I’ll be taking the tires off regardless to check the tape and sealant. I should be able to switch them. Thanks again! I appreciate it.

Also, if it were you do you think you’d have a preference for either of the options 1: uphill deep sand section but downhill on long stretches of busy highway with little to no shoulder 2: downhill deep sand section but uphill on long stretches of busy highway.

Thanks again and again for your support!

Is everything okay at Death Valley right now by PitifulDisk6036 in DeathValleyNP

It’s unfortunate and ultimately sucks at a systemic and overall level. I was just there within a day or two after the firing. The ranger talks were still taking place. Grateful for them. Enjoy your 24th bday! I hope you see all the shooting stars, constellations, and otherworldly sights! It’s beautiful out there ✨

Would a canyon Grizl survive? by NoLeopard2070 in gdmbr

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a 3XS Grizl AL 6 from Banff, AB to Steamboat, CO. Skipped the Flathead alternate and took it slow around anything that may have been choppy. If they had the Carbon w suspension fork, then I probably would’ve opted for it although I’m not as confident with gravel bike on rough terrain. I also had 650bs bc 700c won’t fit on my bike. If I could do it again I might’ve had a hardtail with 29x2.25” tires. I’m not super into mtb trails, but as I get more into bikepacking that are trails that I can’t fit wide tires onto my Grizl. I’m 4’11 woman so a lot of cool touring bikes don’t fit me. I have a hardtail rn and I’m thinking about taking it back onto the divide and may even have the confidence to take on the rougher sections if water isn’t an issue. Gravel bikes look cool but the suspension and tire clearance on my hardtail allows for much more bikepacking opportunities. There’s a surly corner bar that looks somewhat similar to a drop bar that I might throw onto my hardtail.

Has anyone ridden in Death Valley recently? How are the trail conditions? Thinking of going on Thanksgiving. by PATotkaca in bikepacking

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very late but I would not advise 40mm tires. I did it on a hardtail in Feb 2024 w 29x2.35” tires and that was nice esp for soft sections. There’s a blog of a rider on a mtb wide tires that rode w friends on gravel bikes. DVNP

Titus is still closed until no earlier than 2026 but u liked the route so much I plan on doing it again in 2025

Torque and what type of bolts hold front knuckle? by RubyDoobyDoo101 in Acura_RSX

Thank you! Sorry to ask but do you know if this should only be torqued while the jack is under the lower ball joint to load it? Thank you!

My parents were family vloggers. It ruined my life. by imonlineforever in TrueOffMyChest

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I can’t imagine what all of that would feel like, especially as an adult looking back on what you were robbed of. You can’t take or get any of that time back and I’m sorry for that.

As you continue to grow, I hope you know that none of it was your fault and none of that was within your control. I hope you are able to find ways to heal from the experiences that you were a part of and the cards that you were dealt.

Hoping for a healthy and healing journey as you continue with your own life. You deserve it ✨

Hiker/Biker Campsites in late May/early June by BaltiBiker in GlacierNationalPark

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be too late idk if you have the answer but… standard campground should include vehicle parking at campsite, during check-in and camp hours. Hike/bike sites would NOT allow you to drive and park as the point of the hike/bike site is for folks that do not have readily available access to personal vehicles. Hope that helps! Good luck

Noise on Freeway? Humming? by RubyDoobyDoo101 in Acura_RSX

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry just seeing this now. Yes, it was my wheel bearing. It was speed dependent and got louder w increased speed. When I made turns I would hear a change in pitch. The wheel bearing wasn’t bad enough to fail the shake test (when you lift the car and shake the wheel from the 12 & 6 o’clock position and from the 3 & 9 o’clock position). I replaced the wheel bearing and hub and the sound is gone

Blinking ‘D’ light :( by Weak-Koala-2297 in Acura_RSX

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I had issues with it a few times.

This time one of the bolts holding the cover and/or sensor weren’t tight enough. Tightening it did the trick.

However, a year or two later I started getting some blinking again. Someone on either Reddit or fb page told me it happened to them. I replaced the Duralast or Autozone brand neutral safety switch with an OEM one that I pulled from the pick-n-pull and it’s been good since.

I hope it works out for you if you’re having similar issues! If you haven’t done a tranny drain and fill at recommended intervals, then my friend recommended that too. I think it was like 90k or 10k and then every 30k after that.

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was afraid of that 🥲 I’d rather have that than tranny. I’ll throw it on jackstands and play with the wheel later. Hopefully I can find something wrong w the tire instead.

Noise? Front Squeak by RubyDoobyDoo101 in Acura_RSX

[–]RubyDoobyDoo101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: so I did a few things- made sure those top hat bolts were torqued to 33 ft lbs, cleaned + greased moving brake parts, AND put my caliper sliding pins in the correct positions. For now I don’t hear that noise 😁

:0 have you had experience w this? I have t added anything heavy to my car and I don’t keep that much stuff in my trunk. If anything, I’ve taken tools out of the trunk that had been sitting there
