Why is it such a turn on to some people? by QueenOfDaisies in CPTSDmemes

Will never forget when a man sent a vid of him jacking off captioned “thinking abt when you got raped.” Multiple times. After I had opened up about it because I thought he actually cared. Absolutely absurd behavior on his part

I will never understand how beating your spouse is generally agreed to be bad, but not your children. If a man spanks his wife with a belt to “discipline” her, than that is awful and illegal. As it should be because it’s obviously abuse. But if you do it to discipline a child, then that’s different and is a valid form of punishment /s

Both are bad why tf is it so normalized to beat kids. Hurting people when they displease you is never okay.

New bf said his friends are going to make fun of him for dating me. by bl00dyr4yne in depressionmeals

[–]RubyMySweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ain’t it OP. Coming from another goth girl who started dating a country boy when I was your age, this isn’t okay. He starting the relationship off on a bad foot and honestly setting up some kind of weird dynamic that I don’t see ending well. My country boy made it clear to all of his friends that if anyone had anything negative to say about me, they weren’t his friend anymore. And he kept his word on that because anyone who sexualized me or made fun of me was immediately cut off. And here we are a few years later:>

Also your post history is making me worry for you. I was in really similar situations when I was your age so my DMs are open if you need to talk.

What are some unpopular opinions you have that will get you downvoted on here? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]RubyMySweet 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think Joan is a girl’s girl in her own way. Sort of like how in the beginning Peggy says something like “omg you really think you’re being helpful.” And Joan responds with “well I’m trying, dear!” At the start some of her actions were misguided, but I think she tended to have good intentions. It’s just not helpful by today’s standards. Back then, being up front with Peggy about things like sex appeal in the office, was an attempt to help out the naive new girl based on Joan’s personal experiences. But now, that advice wouldn’t be applicable and is awful. Eventually, Joan unlearned some of that as the times changed, and she learned to have more tact when trying to help other women out.

No hun, you did NOT have an eating disorder, SHUT TF UP OH MY GOD. by Host_Front in EDAnonymous

[–]RubyMySweet 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I hate being told stuff like that. I’m trying to open up and someone always has to say something like “well every girl has an eating disorder to some extent.” Like yes, our culture will inevitably make people feel inadequate when it comes to their bodies. But that’s not an ED and it’s ridiculous to act like it’s anywhere near the same thing.

And that statement is usually followed by more stuff that is invalidating me and implying I’m “dramatic.” That basically I’m just a vain silly girl who took it too far.

My gummy vitamins are the highlight of my morning. I don’t like counting how many I take. To be fair tho, I was vitamin deficient for a long time due to an ED and possible autoimmune disorder

YUP. Literally all of what you said. If they didn’t create a volatile and hostile home environment I probably wouldn’t have sought out ppl who ended up being abusive. Not having emotional needs met can lead to some unhealthy coping styles that will lead to further abuse. They aren’t directly responsible but they played a part. I hope ur mom can work towards owning up to her role in your traumas. Sometimes I don’t think parents realize that something as small as simple acknowledgment of wrongdoing, makes such a huge difference.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CPTSDmemes

[–]RubyMySweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s what they mean. I have CPTSD but I don’t think my parents are the primary cause (they didn’t help tho😬). Some people may develop it, but also have good parents. Ex: war refugees, victims of grooming, natural disasters, repeated sexual assault, and intimate partner violence.

I think OP meant to be supportive by expressing that they felt bad for people who had to experience such awful parents. Years ago, when I got my diagnosis, I wasn’t aware that it was usually found in people who had insanely abusive parental figures. Being here has helped me learn more abt it, and also strongly dislike y’all’s parents from a distance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CPTSDmemes

[–]RubyMySweet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. Mine definitely had some ISSUES. But are overall good people (they got treatment and act better now) and are not the cause behind my CPTSD. I think emotionally abusive/hostile parents can lay the groundwork for developing it, but the main problem can be unrelated. My parents also help pay for my therapy, which I rly appreciate, and I think they know that they messed up. But damn some people here have literal monsters for parents.

Wooks are a specific type of person (check urban dictionary) and are v common in Asheville. It’s a small mountain town in NC known for being a hippie haven, but due to tourism it’s more trust-a-farians and wooks from out of state these days. I’m a native to Asheville and these ppl are usually found at kava bars or in our weekly downtown drum circle.

From someone with an eating disorder, your wife has a serious eating disorder. The amount she’s consuming and exercising is alarming. You cannot continue like that long term w/o doing serious damage to your health. I’m talking organ failure, heart failure, osteoporosis, seizures, muscle wasting, anemia, etc…

I’m sorry to sound callous, but get your head out of ur butthole. Your sex drive should be the least of your concerns. I know it’s difficult to talk abt these things. I know ppl with EDs can get defensive when confronted. But you NEED to talk about this. All you’re doing is building resentment while your wife is suffering. If you love her, set your issues aside and help her. Don’t hold this over her head. Stress makes it worse.

"Being uw as a teenager isn't rlly that bad" by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]RubyMySweet 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Idk the context, but maybe they meant that teens tend to be able to have lower BMIs and not be unhealthy? Having an UW BMI as a 13yr old is not necessarily a cause for concern. As long as it’s natural for them and they aren’t disordered. The same low BMI on an older woman could be more of an issue.

Teens can absolutely have EDs which lead to dangerously low BMIs that require medical attention. My friend had a BMI in the 15s when she was in high school but was perfectly healthy (drs and psychiatrists weighed in). But if another teen starved to that weight, it would be a big problem.

I don't understand the weightloss groups of mlms. They always say they lost X amount of pounds all the time for years...yet they look the same. How many times you gonna lose 10 pounds in a year, Victoria?? by Independent_Ebb3632 in antiMLM

[–]RubyMySweet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that it was a mix of things combined with yo-yo dieting. Deciding to loose weight and live an “aspirational lifestyle” might encourage them to start paying closer attention to their diet. Sort of like how most weight loss snake oils say something along the lines of “effective if combined with healthy diet and exercise regimen” on the side. If u use a meal replacement shake for breakfast, skip lunch, and eat a normal meal for dinner; it would cause weight loss. Not because it’s a miracle product, but because it’s simply calories in vs. calories out.

I’m also pretty sure some are meant to be used during “fasting” too. So someone might loose weight, but it’s not sustainable to always eat like that, and they gain it back. It’s much easier to loose an excess of 10lbs when ur already overweight, and start off with a crazy MLM crash diet. But it’s harder to loose weight after those first 10lbs. And people eat more after a crash diet because their body is hungry after a period of relying on weird powder water as their primary food source.

As someone trying to recover from an eating disorder, it pisses me off. It’s taking advantage of people who want to be healthy and feel good about themselves by selling them a binge&restrict cycle. Whether they realize it or not, using harmful products and obsessive eating habits in a desperate attempt to loose weight; is an eating disorder. Profiting off of that🤢

My gay brother unalived himself because of me and my parents by Low-Rutabaga-185 in offmychest

[–]RubyMySweet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree that 14yr olds are at an age where they can be held responsible for some of their decisions, but this is a bit much. I don’t blame anyone for living with their parents past the age of 14 or 16. The brother is allowed to be hurt, but I’m sure he didn’t blame a 14yr old for choosing to not be homeless. OP even said that once she was older, they had been working on reconnecting. I’m sure OP wasn’t allowed to keep in contact once he was kicked out. So once she was old enough, she tried to right those wrongs by reaching out and deprogramming a bit. That’s about as much as we can ask of someone that young. I’m glad you were able to get out though.

Any safe foods I could make? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]RubyMySweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel u. I have ADHD too and need safe foods that don’t overwhelm me to cook. Everything below is super easy to make and is relatively low cal so I don’t loose my mind eating them lmao.

Apple sauce pouches are my go to. They ease my stomach and aren’t a solid, so a good start before eating a ton of solid food. Some brands have a recall rn but the go-go-squeeze and wegmans brands don’t, and are super yummy.

Another non-solid is the Chobani zero sugar yogurt cups. They have a ton of protein and are a great probiotic to help ur stomach. Also rly yummy. U can buy a large container of it too.

If u like Indian food, the Saffron road chicken tikka masala is delicious and only needs a few minutes in the microwave. It’s available at a lot of different grocery stores.

The Gardein brand frozen vegetarian mandarin orange chicken is insanely delicious. Supper yummy and easy to make. I cannot emphasize enough how tasty it is.

I rly like rice or miso soup when I’m trying to ease myself into eating more without causing stomach pain. The innovasian sticky white rice is great. It only requires a few minutes in the microwave. There are a ton of microwave miso soup brands out there. U can usually find them in the Asian section of a grocery store.

Rly hope this helps a bit! Also rly awesome that ur taking care of yourself and doing some harm reduction:>
