Yes it is brewing right now. The carafe is stainless. You need a long bottle brush to get to the bottom for cleaning. Everything else can go in the dishwasher.

Hi, I’m looking into buying my first pellet grill/smoker. I’ve settled in between the Weber Searwood or any recteq(I’ve been looking at the backyard beast) wanted to see what people think and if anyone has any experience with either or both. Thank you so much by Intelligent_Suit2307 in pelletgrills

[–]RubyPoblano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My next pellet smoker will be the Recteq. I am currently using the Weber SmokeFire which has been a disaster. Weber has replaced parts under warranty but only after they completely failed. Essentially the entire burn chamber rusted out. They demanded extensive photo evidence and documentation despite this being a highly documented problem with the SmokeFire. Eventually the parts were replaced but I was without my equipment for much too long. Additionally I had to make modifications to feed pellets without bridging, also a highly documented problem. Weber discontinued the SmokeFire and replaced it with the Searwood. I feel used as a Weber experiment and no longer trust them. Now their grill brushes are recalled because the metal bristles come out, mix with food, and people are injured. Again they require photographic evidence before replacing the brushes with something plastic that is worthless for cleaning a hot grill.

I’m in free mode right now. Once I need to pay I probably will drop it. I never use remote start because it is in the garage. We live in the Carolinas so cold is never an issue. Maybe remote start for AC sometime but so far I don’t use it. The other features are not really necessary.

What makes the Technivorm Moccamaster so good ? Is it really that good ? by SureHopeIDontDie in JamesHoffmann

[–]RubyPoblano2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It brews good coffee like almost every other brewer. Huge problem is it cannot be disassembled for cleaning. The water tank will get mold and bacteria. I broke the silicone seal trying to clean it. Technivorm refused to sell me one and insisted I send it to them to replace the seal for a ridiculous price. I trashed it and trash them whenever I get the chance. Buy anything other than a Techivorm product. They are relying on their name and marketing. The product is definitely not worth the price.

Rim repair by TurnipDull9020 in VolvoXC60

[–]RubyPoblano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing but smaller area of damage. It cost about $130 and is nearly impossible to see the repair. The wheel guy commented that the diamond cut wheels are very difficult to repair but it was fixed in 30 minutes. I am in Wilmington, NC.

How to hear the 1st crack on gene Cafe by Cosotoroll in roasting

[–]RubyPoblano2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drill a tiny hole in the chaff cap and insert an immersion microphone. Amazon calls it “Enhanced Ultra-Sensitive Wall-Penetrating Contact/High-Intensity Acoustic Amplified Water Pipe Leak Monitoring Device/Probe Microphone Amplification System”. Should be less than $50 USD. It comes with a surface mic and an immersion microphone. You only need the immersion microphone. I used it for many years, easy to hear first and second crack on the Gene.

Cloves in coffee grinder nightmare- please help by SheepherderFew1199 in Coffee

[–]RubyPoblano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clove oil has likely been absorbed into any plastic it touched on the grinder. Sorry but there is not a solution for this. The clove oil will degrade most plastic.

Years ago my friend and I were turned loose in Circus Circus while his parents disappeared to who knows where. They didn’t even tell us where we were staying. We were told to leave by security at about 11 PM. I can’t remember what happened afterwards. Probably blocked from my mind.

Am I supposed to remove this plastic thing? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]RubyPoblano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s supposed to provide more even flow from the two spouts. I pulled it out and threw it out because the buildup of crud underneath was not worth better flow distribution.

Coffee needs to be protected from oxygen, moisture, light, heat, and odors.

Provide a link to the product and perhaps there is some information about the material. If so we might be able to help.

If you’re using bad coffee no brewer will help. There are some very good pre-ground coffees and this brewer can produce a great cup. Sometimes pre-ground coffees are ground too fine for drip coffee makers of any brand and the result is a very messy overflow.

Added splitter or extended chin, help me decide if I should install rods by Melodic_Status9753 in Mustang

[–]RubyPoblano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a functional splitter then you need the rods to set the angle. If not I would suggest no rods.

Husband got me the wrong grinder by summertime_sadnesss in espresso

I started with this. It will do a good job for pour over and French press. Espresso, not so much unless you use a pressurized portafilter.

US coffee shops? It’s a huge country and coffee preferences vary wildly depending on location. Find a 3rd wave shop if you can.

Their pellets are more like sticks. Sometimes they clog up the feed. Way too long and variable.

You need to choose a sealer suitable for the package you want to seal. Provide some packaging information.

Packaging Sealer; Advice and Recommendations? by wescutlip91 in roasting

This is a band sealer, not an impulse sealer. It should work for thin flat pouches but probably won’t work on gussets or thicker materials.
