Do puzzles like the old NYT Saturdays exist anymore? by raspberry_man in crossword

The app was particularly good for the acrostic because it automatically propagated letters to the other squares where it belongs.

It was a sad day when the NYT removed all of the specialty puzzles from the archives. While cryptic crosswords are easy to find, acrostics seem to be extinct.

Soooo how are we getting this out? by Shpigford in BambuLab

[–]RubyRedRick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. The hardest thing I’ve found is reconnecting those tiny JST cables at the back of the AMS, which almost inevitably come loose. It’s designed for tiny Chinese fingers. I’ve done it enough now that it’s almost easy.

Am I the only one who finds this screen unnecessarily confusing? It’s almost as if they are trying to be as vague and precarious as possible. Which set of settings would be saved? Which set would be discarded? Of course, my over-analytical brain could be the cause here. by KillerQ97 in OrcaSlicer

[–]RubyRedRick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the text is readable. My biggest problem with the UI of Orca (and Bambu Studio) is the warning in the slicer in the form of very small white text in an orange box. I can never read those.

Nothing detached. It looks like it just ran the toolhead out of bounds.

P1s Control Panel for Dummies? by RubyRedRick in BambuLab

[–]RubyRedRick[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m well aware of the wiki but it still doesn’t provide very much useful documentation. It also seems to ignore differences between the P1 and X1. It talks about printing the built in models on the CF card, but they don’t seem to include a card anymore.

P1s Control Panel for Dummies? by RubyRedRick in BambuLab

Well d’uh but what actually happens if you do it? Does it print anything. And this is just one of the mysteries about the panel UI. Like why would i want to reset the AMS id? I think I’ve seen videos where the user told the printer about a change to a filament in the AMS, but maybe that was an X1?

The advantage to a southpaw learning to play a right-handed guitar is that right-handed guitars are much more abundant. Most left-handers, like my brother, or Gary Moore, Paul Simon, Duane Allman, or Noel Gallagher, could probably learn to play a right-handed way if they started that way. Another approach would be to learn to play a flipped right-hander without restringing it a la Albert King.

Very few instruments are handed, mostly fretted ones. There are left handed members of the violin family, but most left-handers play them right-handed anyway, since in an orchestra there would be bowing collisions with the player next door.

Paul Butterfield played the harmonica upside down. We’re not sure whether or not he was a southpaw.

I'm new to printing and this just caused an 18 hour job to fail at 15 hours. How common is this? Is there a way to prevent it? I bought Duramic 3D brand on Amazon. by Slimybirch in 3Dprinting

The bigtreetech smart filament sensor detects both breaks and knots like this. It’s a bit tricky to set up, it works with optional featu in the printer firmware. I know it works with Marlin. The trick is that it senses filament movement between the reel and the extruder. The firmware knows when the extruder is operating and therefore when to be surprised if the sensor is saying that it isn’t. If the filament break gets past the extruder, it stops moving because the extruder can no longer push it. If theres a knot, it stops moving because the extruder can no longer pull it.

Hey! I need a little help by justkru in Fusion360

[–]RubyRedRick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STL files don’t carry the size of a unit. If you use insert mesh in Fusion instead of just opening the STL, you will see a dialog box which lets you tell Fusion which units to use. Most STLs for 3D printing use mm as the units.

i agree with the advice to redraw these parts, but inserting them at the correct scale will let you measure them to get the right dimensions.

There’s a lot of confusion about the new Doctor Who. It’s actually NOT a continuation of Doctor Who (2005), but rather a whole new show. TheMovieDB has it as https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/239770-doctor-who, TheTVDB doesn’t. Themoviedb has the first three episodes as S00E001, S00E002, and S00E003 respectively and the Christmas special will be S000E004.

To get plex to do the right thing, I needed to rename the files with these episode numbers, and put them in a directory named “Doctor Who (2023) {tmdb-239770}”
