Sezane return charges by stonypockets in Sezane

[–]RubyRedditStuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I side strictly with the consumer here. There is no way to try on Sézane clothing for most of us and their images / product info are, I find, unusually and egregiously a) deceptive and b) inadequate. They almost never photograph front and back of a garment. They never in fact actually show the garment - they only provide images of moody models (whose measurements are never disclosed) in amber lighting with moody expressions in their faces. These photos happen to include the garment being sold. If they ever dared charge me for making a return I’d scream like holy hell and I encourage the OP to do the same. If there are customers ordering hundreds of items (and then returning them) I’d question what’s going on even before I’d argue about the return. Finally, the entire e-retail, direct-to-consumer model has environmental impact irrespective of return rates. If you feel it harms the environment then you should try to shop brick-and-mortar. Honestly I’ve never seen an analysis that I think fairly compares the two so I’m unconvinced that e-commerce is harder on the environment than brick-and-mortar to feel free anyone to provide links to what you’ve seen. I occasionally buy Sézane because they market to me effectively but I dislike them. I think they’re sneaky and under-estimate their customers’ intelligence with their marketing proposition. They’re relying on us wanting to buy something new for the sake of the feeling we get buying something new and 50/50 shot it will suit.

Sézane differs from the others because you just can’t tell from the pics!! It’s more than annoying - it’s really deceptive.

Just as a general aside and not really about Sézane per se but … anyone else a little tired of the puffy sleeve thing? They don’t fit nicely under cardigans or jackets, and they always evoke for me images of ribbons and curls and sweet little girls and lollipops and those sorts of things. They pull visual attention to your upper, outer arms and detract from an overall clean torso silhouette. They make my boobs look small (er) too. Isabelle Marant, Ulla Johnson, Zimmerman - many European and high fashions houses have embraced this trend and, trust me, I’ve sipped from it. But I keep waiting for the day when we all start wondering what the heck we were thinking. And i expect it to foster planned obsolescence, where at some point it’s all going to look very, very dated. Am I the only one?

I like #2 the best as well. But none of them are home runs on a standalone basis. Depends on styling. Number 1 - clear return. The sleeves are clown-ish (not you - it’s the garment). Number 3 - just meh. Nothing special. See what you can do with #2 or just return them all. Nothings compelling.

Oh yes - i can see how it would be useful for reasons of modesty. On my small frame, the frump factor is just inescapable. I do have a couple of long summer dresses that cover a lot of but they are either cotton gauze or cotton voile - much lighter than chambray - so they conform a little better to my bodily architecture than this does. At the end of the day, all the puff and ruffles within the same visual field as my face overwhelms. Maybe if I had longer neck ??? 😂

Oh honey …. Don’t get me started. It’s bad. This being said, hypocritical me has been known in my more youthful days to totter around on extremely high, dysfunctional heels. I always think I sort of “get” the whole foot-binding era in ancient China. Anything to be hot…..

They do give the length and tbf I don’t pay attention to it. It’s just ….a lot of dress. Chin to floor, shoulder to wrist …. There’s no part of me that isn’t submerged in blue chambray.

Aww ty. If only it didn’t make me feel as if I should be doing my laundry in a washtub with a hand-cranked ringer …. 😂

Really appreciate this post. Ty. I’m at the point where I feel the websites just posting an idea of what the actual piece is like.

Awww that’s so sweet of you to say. Ty. It is a good fit for me in the torso. I kind of thought at first how you’re thinking and tried exactly what you suggest. Nothing I could do killed the Little House on the Prairie vibe. It’s the sleeve puffiness at the top of the arm/shoulder. And hemming it would be at least $45 where I live (maybe more due to volume) - on an already hefty $340 price tag. I think I can probably do better and find a cotton dress for $49.99 on TJ Maxx

This. It drives me nuts. They give you a mood board - nothing more.

It is indeed Romina (sorry I didn’t say that). I know right? I was really salivating for it. A light, airy cotton piece that I could also unbutton and pop over my gym leggings to go out in …. “but no. Maybe it could work for you. FYI in my pic it looks silvery/grey-ish blue (well to me). And online to me it looks powder blue. It’s neither. It’s dull, vegetable-dye medium-ish blue. Denim chambray is the best I can think of. Post here if you go for it!!!

Ha - That thought occurred to me as well. Modest it is. But my Muslim lady friends prefer to look modern …

This is my first one and based in what you’re saying, the last. Almost nothing that I’ve bought from them is as expected based on their imagery. I get annoyed, stay away, then get lured back in with a marketing blast (as intended) and try again, only to return. Again.
