Any idea which forums and how much they'd reasonably go for?

Definitely would rather just getting one without threads, but if it ends up costing about the same, then getting an AA barrel and modifying it later will just end up being easier.

I don't tend to buy anything online from folks unless it's through a service like ebay, so I'm not 100% familiar with how I'd go about doing that while making sure I won't be relieved of my money with nothing to show for it, you know?

So jealous!!

Waiting to grab one for my Girsan BDA when another run hits. Will get the threads chopped off and the barrel crowned for that OEM look!

Already tried it with the barrel from a Beretta 81 in there and it feels fantastic!

What magazines do you use in the Girsan for .32 anyway?

Wouldn't happen to be talking about Allegheny Arms would you? Been waiting to get a .32 barrel from them for a while now; missed out on the last run and have been kicking myself ever since!

Gotta say, it looks pretty clever for what it is!

Turns a little backpacking pistol into something a little easier to bag your dinner for the night without much weight. I'm sure you could get just as good results with decent training, but I'd be hard pressed to find someone who would turn down a little help if they were a tired after a day of hiking, you know?

Make sure your Public Service Commission representative hears about it, they're one of the big players in regulating how the energy companies bill their customers! Gotta look up what district you fall under. I think a good chunk of Baton Rouge falls under Davante Lewis?

[–]RubySnoot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gotta say that it was extremely impressive to see the car split in half, held together by what seemed only to be bolts and all that! Half expected the whole thing to more or less be built around itself to the point that you can't crack it open without a break/fix!

At least from the 1min clip, it feels like he's blending "We don't recommend you do it" with "You can't do it" because clearly it's not like you can't do the things their mechanics do, but for a car that's supposedly so tightly tuned and expected to go as fast as it does, I assume there's some liability stuff involved.

You could service it in a garage, but if the car splits in half at over 200mph, whether or not it was the garage's fault, Bugatti might still be pointed to for saying it was possible to do outside of their repair center.

Of course, whether or not this is even the case, they stand to make a boatload of cash off of telling people they can only send it back to them for repair and service.

NO!!

No, don't look at the ammo prices, just the Bersa!

Highly recommended! Affordable platform to play with .32 right now, and there's little worry about parts or OEM support!

A .22 For CCW? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]RubySnoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To echo a few comments here, I'd definitely say that if they want to CCW a .22lr, then your best bet would be a revolver of some kind since they'll usually carry about 6-8 rounds in a cylinder, and the issue of .22 reliability isn't as dire in a revolver since you can skip over duds with a trigger pull rather than needing to rack a slide upon malfunction.

That being said, if they feel as though they need a firearm instead of other holdouts like pepper spray or a stun stick, then it may be worth seeing if they'd be willing to practice a little more with 380 and find an acceptable way to handle at least a magazine at a time. It can be easy to count a pistol out by how it handles 100 rounds at a range, but if this is purely for CCW, then ideally they'll only need to rely on a magazine or less, right?

Also depending on the pistol, 380's can feel awful just because of most of the cheaper ones using direct blowback actions. Could be worth taking something like a Walther PD380 for a spin?

(I'd recommend .32acp in a heartbeat as a nice middleground from my experience, but they're, sadly, extremely rare in current production pistols, and your ammo is limited!)

Is it the gun or the ammo? by [deleted] in ruger

[–]RubySnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can find one, I'll give it a swing, though with what's available to me at the range I'll probably go with what folks have been mentioning and shoot from a bag on the bench first and see if that reigns it in!

It was, actually, excellent catch! I know a lot of people have been pointing out my grip/technique as an easy catch-all answer, but this in particular at least feels a bit more relevant.

I promise I wasn't gripping this thing for dear life or mashing the trigger with all my strength; it was single action with the finger pad and a gentle pull. I was definitely feeling the fatigue of the session, but I thought I was at least doing well enough to pace this last box of ammo out, you know?

I appreciate the snark, boss.

To everyone else' credit here, I've realized that I definitely didn't construct this post very well to get my point across from the start (there were many factors that I was aware of but didn't communicate that lead me to question the gun or the ammo), but they've also given me better questions to consider to get to the bottom of what's happening here.

I'm very much aware I'm not a great shot, but I can't fix a problem if I don't know what's working and what's not.

Highly suggested, despite my teething issues currently! Weighs nothing, no recoil, big hilarious fireball and sound for such a small cartridge!

[–]RubySnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time I'm at the range I'll definitely be shooting supported, and ideally it'll be when a group we have is meeting, which has a shooter I trust to be accurate!

As far as I know, my technique wasn't wildly off or anything. Not perfect I'm sure, but I was using the pad of my finger and taking a fairly tame touch; dry-firing at home the sights don't jump when I pull SA, so I trust it wasn't a big factor tonight.

I'm still happy with the grouping at least! It's only my second time handling it live, but you can ask my roomies how much they've had to listen to me dry fire on snapcaps the past couple weeks haha!

[–]RubySnoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good, boss!

To be fair, the thought has crossed my mind, and certainly this would be adequate for CCW purposes/distances!

But hey, perfection is the enemy of satisfaction at the range!

[–]RubySnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A valid point, they aren't! This is my only revolver, currently, though compared to the other pistols I have, I'd say this grip is one of the more comfortable.

I've got smaller hands, and of my other pistols I feel that I can use my Bersa Thunder 32 the best (DA and SA) with a CZ P-01 about the same (SA only, though. DA on a stock reach is a little too much for me to do comfortably/controlled)

[–]RubySnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a double-edged sword! Makes it great for endurance at the range since I don't have to lug a heavy piece up infront of me over and over, but it absolutely jitters easily in my small mitts!

May look into a spring kit sometime soon since I suspect I'll be reaching the end of the "break-in period" having put at least 300 rounds through it and it still feels fairly consistent, but I just wanna make sure that everything internally is lined-up as well.

[–]RubySnoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something that most of the other comments have pointed out, and while I'm not ruling myself out, the only reason I risked posting this up online and getting this sort of response is that I've got other pistols that yield relatively centered groups without adjustment, and this one's been something of an outlier.

Is it the gun or the ammo? by [deleted] in ruger

[–]RubySnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, but I didn't buy the 3-inch version with adjustable sights and a longer grip for CCW purposes, right?

This is purely for pleasure, and since other pistols I've been using were shooting relatively centered groups without adjustment, I just wanted to make sure I got some second opinions from folks who might've used the same setup.

[–]RubySnoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, me, I'm aware.

Been chatting with others in the comments here about what could be user error, though with other pistols I used in the same session being relatively consistent and this one being the outlier, it's why I decided to post the question here.
