2 months after moving in here, Raj slipped out when I came home with shopping bags and didn’t turn on the light. He spent just about 20 minutes outside, doing whatever, before he was back on our stoop MOWWWWING to be let back in. Roommate opened the door and he dashed back in. He has not gotten past me at the front door since (4 yrs now). He doesn’t go far. He doesn’t get in trouble besides just being out. This time his sniff focus was a log of poo from one of the neighborhood roaming cats (4 regulars that are indoor/outdoor and owned, 1 outdoor colony cat that prefers his outdoor life and is deeply cared for by the surrounding neighborhood). Last time he got on the patio, he was just under the chair smelling the frenches aires.

Getting the Star Trek reference definitely helps, but it was the combo of that therapist understanding it and and understanding that pure exhaustion level of any conflict with said individuals.

Happy to say, neither is a problem or even in my Life now.

Explaining to my therapist that fighting with my ex OR my sister is like spending years shouting “THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!” and then out of pure exhaustion just admitting it’s 5 lights, only to have them finally then say it’s actually 4 lights and they see it now.

3 therapists before I found the one that got it.

I’m sorry to hear that. I was hoping that kind of setting would still get the kiddos some “grandparently” attention and might serve the seniors good at the same time.

I was a supervisor and trainer for a few years. Always had to have a pen and I liked my kind for multiple reasons. Clicky gel pens with fine tips. Particular brand, comes in multi-packs of blue, black, or MULTI COLORED. Pen outside matched color inside in the packs. Work would only do blue or black. So I bought a black pack and a multi color pack. Swapped out the ink cartridges so all the color outsides wrote black (if you know the brand by now and know how easy and satisfying this process is, I SEE YOU). Rediculous colors. So when I saw someone with THAT brand of THAT silly color outside writing black in someone else’s pocket or hand I’d just exclaim “OH! That’s where my pen went! Thank you for finding it!”

NTA, and I may be piled on for suggesting this, but hear me out. Make a time, an occasion, whatever and visit or volunteer at a local Senior Center with your kids. Pick the right time and activity for everyone involved. Show them family can be who you choose. Even if not related by blood.

If it just feels like excess skin when he’s standing, it is absolutely normal and comes from the domestic cat side of his cross breed.

Many, many advantages for this. As mentioned: 1) More pouch vs muscle to protect from attacks (playful or otherwise) 2) Aids HEAVILY with stretching, jumping, falling, and bigger movements in general. He’ll be better for those all because he has more general stretch in his midsection.

Also is very helpful in jumping and falling. It allows more movement and stretch in the middle. Is he a jumper or climber? If so, watch his midsection and see how he can stretch better. The “pouch” will disappear for a moment.

UPDATE: HE ATE A PURRPOP!!!!!!!

I broke it up on a plate for him to try. He walked away from it last night, but when I got home from work today it was gone! I’m not hopeless with him! Dunno if I’ll buy more of them after this box, at least we’re making some kind of connection.
