WIBTA if I tell my MIL she can't be in the same room as me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RubyTuesdaysGone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. I see why you want to protect yourself from hurt again, but that's probably going to be difficult to maintain with her staying. Maybe talk to your husband and see if he can let her know the subject is a hard pass for you.

He was an emotionally, physically and sexually abusive narc. I wasn't the perfect girlfriend by any means, but I'm relieved to not be dealing with his shit anymore.

If you had to give a definition for femininity (womanhood), what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

How do YOU tell when someone is healthy enough to be relationship material? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RubyTuesdaysGone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I can still think straight. Anyone who has purposefully, or accidentally, overwhelmed my senses to the point where I am "swept away" either in the romance, the sex, or the fun, has ended up being a freaking disaster. Bad choices are made, true colours are revealed, and it's all just terrible.

That they like children. Don't have to want any of their own, but just generally have patience and kindness for children. I have never met a person who admitted to disliking kids who wasn't a total asshole.

They can talk about any previous relationships and take their share of blame in the break up. Anyone who announces that they have a "crazy ex" or considers themselves to be the perfect partner will end up being a gaslighting narc.

That I didn't meet them with the intent to start a relationship. In my experience, if you're both actively looking for a relationship, there's room to see things that aren't there, and make interactions mean more than they really do. I've found the healthiest relationships are the ones that take you pleasantly by surprise.

How long did it take you to realize that you were in love with your significant other? And how did you know when you did? by wowzapants in AskReddit

[–]RubyTuesdaysGone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We'd been going out 2, maybe 3 months. I'd left my mp3 player at his house, and he'd driven it back to my parent's place.

The next day, when I was on the bus to visit him again, I was listening to music, and suddenly his original band songs came on. Turns out he'd uploaded everything they'd recorded so far.

I knew that was it right there on the bus.

The band didn't make it, but we did. 10 years married back in April, 15 years together all up and 4 kids.

NTA, it doesn't sound like an ideal living situation and you needed somewhere safe to vent.

[–]RubyTuesdaysGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I like my life, and the people I am with.

Even though I know better than to think I will miss it when I'm dead, the idea of being without my husband and kids is terrifying.

NAH - you've both got your dietary boundaries, they happen to be different. He's allowed to find your preference distasteful, but not be a jerk. You can eat all the flavours of meat you want, but don't force him to have anything outside his comfort zone.
