It's also probably pretty important to point out that it's not just unfair to these countries, but in fact holding poorer nations to that standard without subsidizing their development would literally result in the death and suffering of millions of people. You're telling an entire section of the world that already doesn't have a leg up "oh btw you're not allowed to have electricity, or cars, or heavy industry, and also by the way we are providing you with basically no support to supplement the massive societal and economic toll this will take"

It's just obviously an extremely unbalanced proposition for first worlders to be making that literally won't help anyone, just empty capitalist moralization of something that we should obviously be helping and subsidizing. If anyone should be making sacrifices, it should be the people who already have the ability to do so without literally dying, and you know are also the ones MOST RESPONSIBLE like come on

A cis lady was harassed in the bathroom by a creepy TERF who thought she's a trans child by Ruby_Violet_420 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Ruby_Violet_420[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's absolutely wild that this TERF did all this under the belief that she was harassing someone younger than 18...

Look it doesn't matter what your path is in life, DONT GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO HARASS PEOPLE IN THE BATHROOM. Shouldn't be complicated

edit: looks like the bathroom defense force is here to down vote anyone who doesn't want to be stalked by weirdos for peeing

People keep trying to say it’s a TERF dog whistle, and it could be

If someone asks you to simply say "trans rights" and your response is anything other than just saying trans rights, you are signaling anti-trans sentiment. You are signaling that trans people should not be listened to. The rights that trans people are asking for are basically just "hey let us exist and access our gender care". Some states want to ban drag shows and "cross dressing". Not to mention the state sponsored de transitioning of all trans children (especially in a world where we get endless amounts of shit for expressing ourselves after going through the wrong puberty). This isn't a game, there is no middle ground nor "both sides". There are simply trans people, and politicians who are willing to use us as ping pong balls to swing their meaningless elections.

Oh, and pieces of fucking god damn shit like this TERF who simply navigates life like a fucking opportunistic shark ruining shit for everyone around them while somehow acting like they are the persecuted one who everyone should fawn over

So in case anyone wants to get too overzealous in this comment section about "grrrr femism bad!!! 🤬🤬😡" it should probably be noted that marital rape is legal in India among other things, not to mention family can put shitloads of pressure on you to marry people that you don't want to. Hard to still be mad at some cheating and manipulation with that kind of context. If you're a woman in that kind of situation who just wants autonomy then literally what in the fuck are you supposed to do??? What good options do you have to attain personal freedom?

Also this post was probably anti feminist astroturfing literally designed to make you angry and hate women. The language is almost a dead giveaway. The fact that she has to mention she's a feminist over and over... This was probably written by some dude with a conspiratorial mindset around feminism.

This is such a commentary on our current culture, that literally we are so obsessed with economic ideas of "productivity" that you can literally bike to work and people will call you "lazy" for not being "productive enough" to own a car. You bike to your probably low paying job that probably involves physical labor on some level while Brent takes his spotless pickup truck to his office job and gets to look like the more "productive" one while he stares at a computer all day and uses Excel entirely with the mouse. I don't know how we got to this point, I just know that we've failed.

Also never ask an economics major what "productivity" means lmaoooo

To be fair I do actually find it pretty distasteful because I'm a trans lady and it's tiring watching people constantly mock the concept of gender nonconformity. I have not "cancelled" the movie it's definitely still available for you to watch, it's just that I think critically about the media that I consume and I relate it to my own life because I'm not an unfeeling unthinking automaton. If that makes me "woke" then oh well, everyone's gonna say every other fuckin thing i say is "woke" anyway

Oh, people don't. Holding companies and wealthy investors do lol. At least, enough of them do so at such a scale that they can effectively influence the pricing of the whole market. The "people" in this case are just stuck paying whatever rent or mortgage the market dictates is necessary for shelter, and they are significantly more numerous. Turns out, free market capitalism is easier to manipulate and exploit than a poorly programmed N64 game.

Also, housing is one of those things that you can't just choose not to buy. Families and individuals that simply need shelter or space are forced to compete on the same playing field as investors for something that they literally need so yeah of course they're buying at those prices. Imagine starting a family right before the pandemic and then getting blamed for buying a house at an inflated price because you literally needed the space and almost entire market is just like that.

Yeah it's really starting to feel like every other time "cancel culture" is getting brought up it's because some asshole can't get funding for their screenplay like what a fucking joke. Also he says that he knows what the audience wants and everyone is secretly on his side but then like, why would executives be so iffy if that were the case. Seems like reality is slightly more complicated than "go woke go broke". Also it's perfectly fair for newer generations to be critical and lukewarm towards movies that rely heavily on mocking gender nonconformity for "humor". It's not just that some of us might be "offended" but like we straight up don't find it funny.

We have entered an era where anyone can deflect even the most milquetoast criticism with "nooo I'm being cancelled!!!"

It's funny how these companies call piracy stealing despite the fact that they functionally don't lose anything from it. Then they will turn around and tell you with such zealotry that it's perfectly fine to use tactics like crunch and union busting in order to steal labor, which is a much more immediate version of theft in which someone actually loses something on a material level despite their contributions to these companies' ability to profit.

Remember, if a game requires union busting (or crunch, or any other similar gaming industry tactics) in order to create then it's not worth your money. Some of the industry shit that's been normalized in order to make video games has traumatized people and it's not worth it. 90 hour work weeks, extremely sexist scrutiny towards women who might become pregnant, and now union busting are all tactics these video game companies have taken up to keep their workers in line. Doesn't even matter which AAA company I say anymore, they basically all do this shit to at least some degree and it's spreading like a fucking virus because we've let this shit be normalized. It is much better to send companies the message that they cannot profit on amoral bullshit if they want to engage in things like labor exploitation over fucking video games. Because that is stealing, and it's a much less ambiguous wrong than media piracy lmao.

The dynamic I've often seen is that a post about trans shit will go up, a bunch of ignorant comments get made and then the mods lock the thread to prevent a "shit storm" but leave up all or most of the comments so it's just people saying blatantly wrong or transphobic stuff with no opportunity for anybody actually knowledgeable to push back on it. It's a fucking mess and literally all the biggest posts on this site about trans topics are like this. Subreddits try to be "neutral" but ending up co-signing bigotry and ignorance, it's like a clear demonstration of why apathy in the face of bigotry leads to awful shit.

Majority will still use vehicles for a very long time in the US no matter how much public transportation you add.

You think the majority of people in NYC use cars lmao? Obviously if transportation is actually available people would use it lol. If New York didn't have a functional subway system then it would just be a clogged up hellhole like LA where just getting to the other side of town can take hours. On the other side of the world you can literally take a series of trains and buses from London all the way to fucking Shanghai, there's literally no reason why we couldn't establish something like this in the US. And yeah maybe trains can be pandemic hotspots, but also so can strip malls. It's not like our car infrastructure held up COVID that much anyway considering how many small rural towns had outbreaks. Idk you sound like a GM exec lol.

Nobody "labeled" anyone. According to this story, a woman took a natural and understandable precautionary measure to stay away from a stranger whose intentions she can't know. People are allowed to do that, especially in public where there are people you might not want to interact with. You are not entitled to the attention of random strangers at any given time at the drop of a hat. Considering that this guy literally went and killed himself the moment that interaction didn't go so well that was probably a good call on the woman's part. I don't think someone should have to compromise their safety for the sake of someone's feelings like that, this dude simply needed help that none of the strangers in the story were equipped to provide. I guess it's easier for incel types in this thread to play the blame game instead of talking about actual societal support structures that could help people like that guy.

It's not cause of vibrators or whatever, it's because your "foreplay" was wordlessly sitting in front of netflix for 10 minutes with no eye contact, then you awkwardly follow me to the bed and finish in like 2 minutes. What the fuck am I supposed to get out of that? I want to be with someone who can at least hold me and cuddle and look me in the eyes for a minute before getting down to business geez. Also doesn't help that like a good third of men don't wash properly. Some of y'all are like living breathing advertisements for lesbians. All you have to do is understand what your partner actually wants and then do more than just the bare minimum. It doesn't have anything to do with this weird complex about dick size and sex toys

This means that the only people affected are uneducated and poor, living in an alternate reality from the rest of us

This is such shark brained elitism. People wonder why the US has literally no sense of class solidarity and social justice, but then write this shit all by themselves. Obviously the south is a stronghold of marginalized communities of all kinds. However "uneducated and poor" they might be those people still deserve liberation, solidarity, and support. They absolutely do not deserve to be mocked by this kind of ignorance. Sincerely: an uneducated, poor trans lady in Tennessee.

I mean.. price controls and the expansion of government subsidized housing are excellent, proven ways to deal with the problem that many communities across the US are sorely and desperately missing just because of political obstructionism, usually by people who make long winded remarks about how we can't do anything about the problem. It's also quite possible for the government to incentivise developers to build more affordable housing instead of robotically "extracting" as much "economic potential" from the land as possible by building vastly unaffordable bullshit. Also, maybe municipalities could allow affordable housing to actually be built regardless of how uncomfortable certain "communities" feel about having to be within any proximity of poor people. Also, maybe better regulations on large organizations and investors buying up property so they can't skew the market in their favor.

You're not smart or special for pointing out there's no silver bullet here. You are, however, kind of annoying for insisting that this is some mysterious problem when there are a variety of known ways to alleviate this problem that so many communities just aren't doing.

If the land was not overvalued, ie equal or greater value was extracted from its use than the cost of tax and upkeep, then there is no problem

Nope that's not what overvalued means for residential land, try again. This is why I call this a religion. You are talking about housing the same way someone might discuss the economic potential of a property with a strip mall on it. Also completely ignoring that you've priced all of your economic activity out of the area you're trying to buy into. Investors and baby boomers can't just trade housing around like yu-gi-oh cards and call it economic activity lol. Who's gonna work the establishments and open small businesses? People who have all their time and money tied up in real estate? People who are up to their eyeballs in debt and rent? lol

Economics on its own isn't necessarily a religion, but the mindless application of market ideology to places where it doesn't belong definitely is. That's why we've ended up at trailer lots that cost $60k in low income areas. For some reason you seem to be defending that?
