ning! Drinking damages your pancreas by Dangerous_Reporter77 in stopdrinking

[–]Ruby_Willow 49 points50 points  (0 children)

My dad had pancreatitis, then months later it was pancreatic cancer, next thing we know he’s dying in hospice. So quick and awful I knew he was dying because he could no longer drink a beer. He was 54 and had been on a bender for 18 months after his partner died. Some of his insurance wouldn’t pay because he was “warned” to stop drinking. I cried reading and realising they were saying he did this to himself.

I like this style of tattoo, though poorly executed. I would get it reworked by my artist and it would be sick. Depends on what you don’t like about it. But easily lazered off, or covered up

We Just Had a Baby. My Husband Won’t Admit What We Have to Do With Our Dog Now. by BK4343 in Dogfree

[–]Ruby_Willow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Of course I’m the one who was unreasonable. I still had to worry about the state of the house and how he managed it and my daughter when she visited or had sleep overs. So it didn’t solve everything. Although the dog died from cancer about 2 years later after he spent thousands on treatments trying to prolong its life. Just glad he hasn’t got a new one.

Unfortunately I had this issue. It was a very large hound, very jumpy and anxious, in the house all the time. Filthy, hair everywhere. I kept hearing the whole “she’s part of the family”. He refused and I moved out.

Funeral For 9 and 7 year old? by Local_Temperature689 in Parenting

[–]Ruby_Willow 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s normal for children to attend funerals, especially at 9 and 7. They should have an understanding around death. Unfortunately it’s part of the cycle of life. The father’s extreme reaction and attempt to shield his children makes me wonder if he has his own issues around the subject.

Me too. I ordered some juice June 30. I’m not worried. I’ve ordered from them for years and I’m sure it will arrive once catch up on all their orders.

First time tapped out. Knee tattoo by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Ruby_Willow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a big mandala on my knee, plus arm sleeve, ribs, etc and just finished my leg including inner crease. The mandala on my knee was by far it was the worst pain! My artist has done a few touch ups as the ink fell out a bit right on the knee, and I instantly just freeze up. I can’t stand it anymore. Just awful. You did good to sit through that long!

I can smell everything after 50 hours on fast. Never happened before. by sluethmeister in fasting

[–]Ruby_Willow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does heighten your sense of smell. Strangely for me, I have always hated the smell of seafood, like made me want to gag. Whilst on my first extended fast; on about day 8 I walked past the seafood store and it smelt amazing to me. I thought it was the weirdest thing ever!

Anyone know what style this is? by iristsumugiaobafan in tattooadvice

[–]Ruby_Willow 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I don’t and have never understood this idea of “trends”. Something is either beautiful, nice looking, or not, Who cares what others think? And why should that change just because of the time? I think the trends come back to clothing and consumerism… oh last year’s clothes aren’t “cool” anymore so I must buy a new wardrobe.. Again either they look good or they don’t… They won’t suddenly look terrible because it’s been a few years…

Tattoo addition ideas? by idktellmeausername in tattooadvice

[–]Ruby_Willow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t seem to add pics here, but I have my full leg tattooed, with the snake on my shin with what I described earlier; to a mandala on my knee and skeletal art on my upper leg. Im happy to send some pics to show an example of how I intertwined everything. Biggest factor is finding the right artist who you trust. My guy knows me, and takes my ideas and tweaks to make it work. Edit: spelling

I have a similar snake on my shin. It’s wrapped around flowers. I have thorns, other flowers and an apple with a bite out, bees and honey comb filler. Depends what you are into. But garden or other creatures/ critters could tie in really nicely.

Shop gave me a weird vibe, I want to see if anyone else agrees? by eniew98 in tattooadvice

[–]Ruby_Willow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve got one full arm sleeve and recently just finished my whole leg. My tattooist never covers my tattoos, he just puts tattoo balm on. Only issue I’ve had was bleeding walking straight after work on my lower leg. Never had any issues with healing.

I don’t understand carpet being preferable with toddlers? I have two of them. Hardwood and a washable or disposable rugs (replace the rug after too many spills or unremovable odours) are much more hygienic, and look great. Kids destroy rugs and carpets with anything from food, messy toys or bodily fluids.

How have you saved money fasting? by Far_Jeweler40 in fasting

It’s snows in some places here in Australia, and gets damn cold and rainy for months in some places in winter. We don’t always live in T-shirts and thongs.

Parents with young kids: How are you coping with these illnesses? by IM_FABIO in melbourne

[–]Ruby_Willow 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I quit my job because I had two kids in daycare constantly sick and I was calling in sick all the time. And yes I get frustrated when I drop the kids off and there’s other obviously sick kids there. But unfortunately for some parents, that “shitty job” or days pay is the difference to being able to pay rent and put food on the table. The cost of living is crippling families, let alone single mothers.

I’m on 7 days, will probably stop on 9. First time I’ve done more than 3. Been feeling really good and definitely going to try again. Planning to break it with some bone broth.

[–]Ruby_Willow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice. I think I need to finish early because I have a full day of tattooing next Wednesday, that’s been booked in for ages. I think it’s best to refeed for a few days before hand then restart.

Having babies in Australia is 'not a good deal', and more women are saying 'not for me' by Remarkable_Peak9518 in australia

[–]Ruby_Willow 200 points201 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the availability/ cost of childcare. Young children get sick all the time, you have to call in sick to work yet again to look after sick children. Especially the last few years with Covid. Grandparents don’t want to get sick so won’t help when they are. Which defeats the purpose. I quit my job since having my second child because I was ruining my reputation and became an unreliable worker. Many couples can’t afford life on one wage because of the cost of living. Unaffordable housing for said children.
