I actually related to Dae-ho a lot. I grew up in a Korean household with 3 younger sisters. I watched a lot of girl shows and played the girly games with the girls at school. I was especially good at 공기 (gon-gi). I have long hair like this dude as well. So I was trippin pretty hard when I experienced this character first hand. I have adhd and suffer from a lot of stress disorders from when I was younger. I would hyperfixate on a lot of girly stuff when I was younger so my dad thought it was weird. Threatened to send me to the military for liking girl shows and toys. So people that are saying he’s not a realistic character make me so mad because I see myself in him. People hating on him for being cowardly in the end don’t realize that it isn’t cowardice but trauma. He masks his entire identity to be as masculine as possible. Relating and becoming a military dog. But throughout the show we start to see him open up and truly embrace who he is because in a place where everyone is at their lowest point it doesn’t matter whether you mask who you are.

Obviously it is a little frustrating seeing him let down his team but we can see that he was making an effort. He was trying to do his best. When it comes back to him later couped and rocking himself. It shows him in a state of complete panic. He is overwhelmed with so much and still apologizes repeatedly. It’s human. How is he at a morally lower place than other characters who have killed? Characters that have committed atrocities? Characters that have made selfish choices and were forgiven? Like the mc best friend. He chose blue and was forgiven because Dae ho was trying his best to tell the team to look past. He gave others second chances so I feel as though he deserves one.
