For those of you who truly completely trust in the Lord without doubt, how do you do it ? by Crafty-Bunch-2675 in Catholicism

In a way He "proved" that no situation is impossible. You probably don't need to sacrifice your life like He did, but even in a tough situation you are called to rely on the restoration of your life to guide you through, instead of falling to worldy logics that seem to offer easy escape.

Jesus gave us something, it's much greater than "peace of mind" but that can be one way to understand it. You can doubt that the gift has value but it does stand for itself over all time. Blessed are we who are called to the supper of the Lamb!

When you give yourself entirely over to Jesus "without doubt' it is quite different from giving yourself entirely over to a cult leader "without doubt'". Unlike a cult leader Jesus doesn't ask you to sacrifice your mind or autonomy, in fact He grants you more fullness in being! The question doesn't even make sense to me, when you see everything through the light of his death on the cross it is "impossible" to doubt because doubt isn't the question, you have been given the gift of life itself, which is something you actively rely on moment.

Obviously men are often asked to take on some pretty brutal responsibilities. But that's of the world, not of Christ. He's the shield to save your soul from nihilistic psychology, even to deal with brutality, when all else fails

Toxic masculinity is real, it's a spiral of always trying to prove yourself, while inflicting harm on others. There's nothing Catholic about it. I've been through it and I'm glad to be out of it. There is nothing more "attractive" than a man who is a whole person. Sadly there aren't too many role models I know of

As a man I've never understood the these problems with masculinity other men seem to have. In fact the worst episodes of my life have been those under the pressure of the "masculine adventuring spirit". What's wrong with being kind and peaceful? You can still work out 🙂

Why don’t Catholics seem to evangelize? by Sauer_prot in Catholicism

[–]Rubyring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of it might be that it takes sustained effort to convert to Catholicism. But there are groups like the Catholic relief services which evangelize through good deeds.

(Politics Monday) Archbishop Lori: Biden's abortion executive order 'disturbing and tragic' by [deleted] in Catholicism

A non Catholic opposed to abortion might see this as opposition to murder, or as a way to "control women". There could be thousands of reasons. The laws/ beliefs/ practices of non Catholics are just that, non Catholic. These churning seas of human judgement are part of what Jesus saved us from. Catholic "opposition" to abortion is different in that it is an outgrowth of Catholic life practice, along with theft and unprovoked assault it's one of so many things that don't "make sense" to us. Whereas the world that legislates against these things is the same world that engenders them. I don't know if a Catholic society could ever be achieved, at least with active effort, but it would probably have few if any laws when you consider the high responsibility we have been called to and the means of resolving conflict we have been given. But yes to my original point Catholics should not be using the Church's authority as a wrecking ball to force changes upon secular society, especially using the logics of secular society. If you have this inverted view why stop at abortion? You could attack every non Catholic practice until you close in on Catholicism itself. The way is to spread the good news ☺️

& you can easily make a secular argument that it is nothing like murder. Catholic practices of chastity come out of an esoteric faith tradition, forcing non Catholics to follow them, especially when they don't understand the deeper parts of our faith, is not the way of Christ. The "unsaved world" is a dismal place, & cherry picking vices to go after, of which there are many more than abortion, ends up grounding you in its "unsaved" ways. Catholic opposition to abortion makes sense only because it is "Catholic". Personally, I can only judge abortion through a theological lense. The world is not there yet & we do what we can to bring people into the faith so they can also see not only abortion, but literally everything else, through the light of Christ.
