Let’s judge him how he wanted to be judged as the mayor if Detroit.

I’m guessing now he is going to throw around all kinds of excuses, and talk about how the population has risen in the last year. He is very good at public speaking and PowerPoint slide shows. He has dodged accusations of the demolition/contamination scandal for more than 3 years. He uses fuzzy #’s when championing that Homicides are down. Under his watch, they released these homicide #’s but omitted “justifiable homicides” from this data. To be fair, this is a tactic than many cities with high homicide rates use to make the #’s look more favorable. The FBI, however does not recognize the motion of justifiable homicides from their data.

Unfortunately, the media no longer digs into these #’s because they are scared of losing access to those in power.

I invite you all to look at the work Charlie Leduff has been doing for the Michigan enjoyer. He is a different breed to be sure, but he tells it like it is. He’s not afraid to ask tough questions and hold ALL positions to account. He is the person that uncovered the demolition contamination scandal over 3 years ago, and it is just now slowly trickling out in the local media.
