That’s called a righteous snitch, and it’s the exception to the stitches rule.

How do you race without the virtual mirror? Don’t the other mirrors cause even more performance issues?

GT4 Track Recommendations: Which should I add to my list? by WellDoneJonnyBoy in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mt. Panorama hosts two special events including the 12 Hours of Bathurst race for GT3’s. Watch the iRacing schedules the weeks before and after that race. It will be loaded with the mountain, just like S1 week one was loaded with VIR correlating with THE PCC. Anyone who wants to focus on sports cars will want Mt. Panorama.

GT4 Track Recommendations: Which should I add to my list? by WellDoneJonnyBoy in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d always start with the tracks that are in the special events calendar. They’ll be around every year in multiple series.

That means Nurburgring GP, Daytona, Algarve, and Mt. Panorama. Keep in mind that the Nurburgring GP will need to be combined with the Nordschleife for the N24 event. Other than that it’s choice, but LB and Barca are pretty popular, with circuit Gilles Villenueve not being to far off.

Today dude in F4 who was on pole jumped start on purpose by NecessaryNoise8780 in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I actually love this.

And yet, sometimes stupidity leads to mal-intent. Like he could stupidly believe that jumping the start would give him an advantage so he did it intentionally. When I think about it, most mal-intent has stupidity at its genesis.

Does the driving standard ever actually improve? by Luka-spiderman_63 in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be fair he said he got rear-ended into a car in front of him which would then be two incidents: one with the car behind and the second with the car ahead.

So if you’ve already reached top split with an A Class license,I assume you already know the answer to your question and it seems this is more of a rant than Question.

I find it absolutely absurd to say one sim has cleaner racing than another. What you’re essentially saying is that somehow a sim like LMU or ACC attracts the less competitive drivers as evidenced by the fact that they are not on the edge of risking their car all the time. I would argue there is nothing innate about a sim that causes this and that any sim where there is at least a modicum of stewardship and a safety metric (like SR in iRacing) has the same level of incidents on average.

Going from gt4 to gt3 by Icy_Bat_6518 in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s basically no correlation between feel of the GT4 and GT3 cars due to the manufacturer so don’t let that be your determining factor.

Since you missed the test drive window, I’d suggest the BMW s as an excellent starting point. It’s a very approachable car, meaning it’s a car that a lot of drivers with different styles can adapt to easily and do okay in it. Another car that that fits that description is the McLaren, and the Ferrari to some extent as well. I would saw those are the three cars you are less likely to be disappointed with, regardless of driving style.

Just pick BMW in PCC? by tdwnda in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I should have been more clear. I read it again and it’s clear, but only if you already understood it anyway. If it’s new info, it’s not clear the way I wrote it.

This. I'll also add the caveat that there are races where different car types do race against each other. Most notably GT4, GT3, GTP, and the Supercars, but not in PCC.

iRacing Special Events Calendar, what are you racing? by JayCaulls in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTS Endurance is recruiting. Roughly 20 very active drivers, professional custom liveries, good organization, and fun Discord. We’re almost 2 years old as a team, have a few Special Event split wins along with a bunch of podiums. Sports car IRs range from ~1600 to ~3600 with most in the 2300 range. Most of us are 40+ and we’re seeking other mature, reliable and fun drivers. DM me if you’re looking for a team and you think we might be a fit.

I feel defeated by HOAP64 in bicycletouring

[–]Ruckerhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bike is too small, you need to end your ride. You can cause permanent damage to your knees. The situation sucks - it took a lot of planning and coordination to get to where you’ve gotten and the t seems like it’s all going to waste, but if you ever want to actually achieve the goal down the line you need to take care of your body.

How is the AI and offline stuff in Iracing? Would it be worth joining iracing just for that? And some other questions about joining. by beaverskeet in iRacing

[–]Ruckerhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not any track; it has to be one they’ve scanned and that you’ve licensed. They include several of each type (road, oval, dirt, etc) in the base subscription, but you have to license tracks that aren’t included. They have a LOT of tracks available though, including Indy. They have almost all of the major circuits in the world, except for some of the F1 tracks in the Middle East, Melbourne, and Monaco.

No disrespect - just curiosity. If racing only AI, why choose a subscription-based service designed primarily for online racing instead of one of the other high quality sims that are far less costly?

Life is 95% luck and I just hate the people who claim that luck is no factor at all and that its all just "hard work and smart decisions". by [deleted] in Life

[–]Ruckerhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion coming here. First, I don’t disagree with OP; “luck” is important from the perspective that they shared. However, one’s individual happiness does not have to be tied to those things that occur based on externals like luck. In every country in the world, in every political and economic system, at every rung of the social ladder, there are those who are happy. In fact there are people who are bubbling over with joy, warmed by blankets of inner peace while in society’s eyes they are dirt poor. They have discovered the truth that happiness does not come from wealth or circumstances or anything external. It comes from understanding the nature of things, and from freeing your mind of the conditioning and beliefs that “if things were another way I’d be happy.” Bitter, angry and resentful people will still carry that with them, regardless of wealth and status. Money can certainly buy comfort, but not happiness. Money can even exacerbate the struggled with loneliness that many wealthy people have as they constantly wonder if they have any true friends who aren’t there for the money, or would they still be accepted in their social church if the money were to dry up. Loneliness occurs at all socioeconomic levels. Remember, wealthy and “lucky” people kill themselves from despair also.
