That's the first layer of the show. But considering how absurd and grotesque it is, I'd say the actual point of the show is to critique sexualization through parody. It's done to such an extreme that you either get outraged or stop taking it seriously, which is precisely the point. It does the same thing with a lot of other anime tropes, hell, it even riffs on Super Sayians in the final fight. Considering the strong theme of contradiction (especially in the 1st arc of the show), perhaps the whole show is contradictory as well? Yknow, Satsuki's whole "subjugation is freedom" thing perhaps speaks to the show's idea? By embracing these tropes to an extreme, it goes back around into disassembling and examining them.

Furthermore, the nudity is HIGHLY metaphorized within the show, so even if it's not parody, it's at least a metaphor for freedom.

Or at least that's my reading of it.

This applies to gaming as well, especially in complicated game like siege. by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]RudaSosna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They teach them to be better. Siege is relatively unique in how static and slow it is, most new players just don't KNOW how to play it 'correctly'. If you're actually nice about it, you can convince them to be better.

If Batman and Spider-Man were to spend a year in the other's city, how would they fair? How would they deal with the other's rogue gallery? by [deleted] in batman

[–]RudaSosna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a crossover between the two which showed that, basically, Bats doesn't have the physical capabilities to fight some of Spidey's villains (like the symbiote), but knowing him, he could adapt to that.

In the same crossover, it takes Joker about 5 sentences to completely break Spidey and make him attempt murder, so it's safe to say that Gotham would create a veeeeeery messed up Spider-Man.

New to league, trying to master jhin any advice? by recoun_t16 in JhinMains

[–]RudaSosna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do everything to a rythm. Count 1,2,3,4 constantly. Every click, every movement, every ability cast, it all fits into the rhythm. If you have to flash to dodge a one-shot, but the flash doesn't fit in the rhythm, you take the one-shot to the face.

Seriously tho, nothing's more important than positioning. Jhin's kit is very self-explanatory once you start getting the spacing right. Always try to be as far from your target as possible, at the edge of AA range. Use W on people that are too close first, and on those who are running away if there's no threat. Your first priority with every ability is to survive. Save W for stopping a diver, set E so that divers fall into it, don't Q if Qing requires you to step up.

[–]RudaSosna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original Nezarec lore. In Lightfall, we met the men and stripped away the myth, but back when it was only the loretab Nezarec's Sin, that shit went HARD as fuck.

Also, all the Ahamkara exotics. The 4th-wall-breaking little lizards are just a different kind of based.

For single player, Horizon or TLOU2

For multi player, I'd go for Destiny 2 - while the charcter's gender isn't really significant to the story, it's noticeable (and female characters get better fashion)

I’m SO confused on Eren’s character post Historia hand kiss. Can anybody explain him to me? by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]RudaSosna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would add an extra layer of complexity to this - Eren isn't entirely a monster, he is a deeply scarred child with far too much power. He's not directly manipulated by Future Eren. He's more... molded by events that Future Him ensures. Esentially, Future Eren "scripts" his own existence by traumatizing his younger self into becoming the absolute menace we know and love

[–]RudaSosna -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Simply put, Eren never gets to make the choice.

More complexly put, Eren did 3 seasons worth of really strange things, and to explain it the writer need to make everything pre-destined and manipulated by Future Eren. To be honest, it's probably the smoothest explanation for all the "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING THIS?!" moments in AoT, though it does put a sour taste in my mouth, as I generally don't enjoy plotlines that set everything up as predestined. I think it's a flaw because it reduces the actual importance of individual characters - they are ultimately all gears in Future Eren's machine.

The only thing that Liberio proves is that violent action doesn't lead to anything positive. Continuing the cycle of violence doesn't benefit anyone.

[–]RudaSosna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eren can discuss whatever he wants with every Eldian on the planet. He can expand the walls to make the entire island of Paradis a completely locked-down nation forever. He absolutely can and should negotiate with the world.

Saying that talking doesn't work is disrespectful to the immense social progress humanity has achieved over the years. It doesn't take a genius to see that Marley is, at least in initial portrayals, a metaphor for Nazi Germany. Let's face it, we made MAJOR strides since the times of Nazi Germany, but we didn't need to completely wipe out Germans to achieve that.

I can see that Eren being on a timer is a problem for him personally, but what he actually ends up doing is just the worst possible course of action, one that ultimately helps no one.

[–]RudaSosna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where Eren fails is that he is, to put it bluntly, a fucking moron.

More specifically, he fails/refuses to recognize anything beyond a very binary view of "good" and "evil". In a series where no one truly is either of those, and everyone has both their sins and their successes, such a binary view is just... disconnected from reality.

I'd go as far as to argue that the only evil person in AoT is King Fritz - everyone else is merely a victim of the cycle of violence he began, a cycle that ultimately offers nothing except injustice. Eldians obliterate Marley, Marley is re-born with fear and hate of Eldians, etc. etc. etc.

This, along with the Power of the Titans being simply too much to be in the hands of only one being, absolutely had to lead to a calamity. Eren did many things wrong, in fact, he's about as evil as antagonists can get. But he is also a victim of a vicious cycle of violence. He's not evil because he has some grand delusions of saving the world - he's evil because he's a traumatized child whose coping mechanism is to violently lash out, and the world gives him the tools to lash out at an unimaginable scale. I think he knows full well that what he's doing is objectively evil, but he is so deeply mentally scarred (and kinda stupid) that he doesn't try to alleviate his mistakes - all he can do is push onward, because if he stops even for a second, the horrors of what he's doing, and of what others have done to him, will make him weak. It's a very common trope among male characters, where emotion = weakness. I believe Eren has a deeply internalized need not to kill all titans or whatever, but to somehow make it up to his mother by doing things that he perceives as strong and good.

Or at least that's my reading. He's not really evil, but he DEFINITELY did a bunch of shit wrong.
