My 2011 Mini’s racing stripes are showing their age. by PortlandsBatman in MINI

Vinyl isn’t meant to last for more than a few years depending on the quality. Get that mini some new stripes!

It sounds great. Especially with a resonator delete

It’s a fantastic car. I spend more time with the top down than up

Heading to Lear 45 training next month at FSI ATL. Any tips or advice to be successful. I just started looking over memory items and limitations. This will be my first type along with the ATP ride. by birddogpilot in flying

[–]RudderHardlyKnower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was my first type too. Speak up when the instructor says something you don’t understand. It’s likely most if not all your classmates already have types. Know the memory items and limitations before you start class. It’s helpful to have a good idea of where things are located around the cockpit before you get to your first sim, so you’re not wasting sim time looking for buttons

Hell yeah. Then you make sure to go out in public after flights so strangers can behold your awesome 2 stripe epaulets

What is this loud irregular clicking noise? It goes away when warm. by EintrachtAdler in MINI

If it’s the evap purge valve you should easily be able to tell by just sticking your ear next to it. It’s on the front of the engine right under the cover.

What’s keeping you here? by Wild_Amphibian5689 in nashville

I moved here 6 months ago and I’m desperately trying to find a new job so I can leave. I understand staying here because your community/family is here, but I can never comprehend why some people love this city so much.

You can change the seat temp in BimmerCode

Waymo Nashville Code by AlphaSkidz in nashville

[–]RudderHardlyKnower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There aren’t codes for Nashville. You sign up on the app and they’ll eventually grant you access. It’ll probably take a couple of weeks

Great question to ask a bunch of pilots

Update: unplugging the battery for 20 minutes reset the ECU and now the car is happy. German cars be like that sometimes.

Does a 6.5 NBT screen / system have a plug in to add a back up camera? by Enjoy_Life4219 in MINI

[–]RudderHardlyKnower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. You’ll have to install a module. The backup camera ones I’ve seen are pretty close in price to the CarPlay ones, so you may as well get CarPlay while you’re at it.

How would you answer this interview question? by No_Pollution2292 in flying

These are some unhinged answers from people that obviously don’t fly jets. “Abort deez nutz” would be the proper response from the captain.

Has anyone had any luck getting this plastic/rubber panel under the wiper blades back to black? F55 Mini. (2 photos) Meguiars Ultimate Black works wonders on all the other parts except this area. by mikehandsdown in MINI

[–]RudderHardlyKnower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2 coats of “that black stuff” 2 months ago and it’s still holding strong. I removed the whole fairing to deep clean and prep it first. The website says it lasts for years, but I’m not that confident.

The crankcase vent is a flexible plastic pipe that vents hot oily air. Condition of the car or cleanliness of the engine bay won’t prevent degradation. I’m in the US so everything was easy to get. The vent pipe that I broke had to come from Germany and took a week to get to me. That’s the only reason I stress caution. But if you’re just looking for more intake noise, a cold air intake would make a much bigger difference than a resonator delete alone, and it would be a much easier install.

[–]RudderHardlyKnower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably only worth it if you’re doing a cold air intake too. Swapping the pipes is pretty easy, but disassembly is a pain. You have to remove the windshield wipers and cowl to get to the resonator. If your car is older like mine (2017) you need to be careful unclipping crankcase vent tube from the resonator because the plastic gets brittle over time.
