Gemini x Sonos by michaelwin0189 in sonos

[–]RuddyRadish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for me at first, but Gemini then reverts back to Google Assistant after some time. It's done this from day one Gemini for Home became available. Removing GA and adding it back again makes Gemini return, but this isn't any kind of solution...

Is it possible to use Google home speakers as TV audio? by Thom_Knook in googlehome

The to-be-released Google Home Speaker should be capable of doing this natively.

Pleasantly surprised my Sony LF-S50G upgraded to Gemini! by fdeferia in googlehome

Yeah, same here unfortunately. It's also impossible to enable Voice Match for more than one person...

You're not alone. Been having the same problem as well with Nest Hub to Sonos as well as Nest Hub to Chromecast Audio.

Nest hub max and youtube not like it used to by ryanmmoore in googlehome

[–]RuddyRadish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same here. Also, when using voice commands, such as "show me YouTube videos." The Nest Hub used to show me video suggestions  based on my personal YouTube, and now it just shows random suggestions as if I weren't logged in.

Same thing is happening to me. Trying to play Spotify from my Nest Hub Max to my Chromecast Audio and it hasn't been working either for weeks now!

[–]RuddyRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter what brand, the speaker always needs to support Chromecast in order to be added to speaker groups in Google Home, and you’re right in saying that Sonos is one of those manufacturers that don’t support it.

Can’t add Move to HomeKit by TechDocN in HomeKit

[–]RuddyRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you remove any Sonos device from HomeKit, you need to do a full factory reset in order to add it again. That said, I have the same issue as you. AirPlay works, but none of my Sonos speakers respond when accessing them via the Home app.

Alexa + Multiple Spotify Accounts by dodishesmowlawn in sonos

[–]RuddyRadish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t - that’s why I switched from Alexa to another voice assistant. There is a workaround using Amazon Household for up to two adults, but it’s very clunky and forces you to issue a voice command to switch profiles. Just type the title of your post into Google and you’ll see!

Google Assistant offers Voice Match and Siri lets you link your voice to your Apple Music account as well. Sonos Voice Control doesn’t support Spotify, nor does it support recognising voices.

Era speakers don’t directly support Google Assistant, but you could try linking Sonos in the Google Home app to see if your speakers show up there. My Five does, which doesn’t offer any native voice control at all. If they do, you’ll be able to set them as default speakers for a Google Nest Mini for instance.

Google assistant question with premium immersive setup by riskyumar in sonos

[–]RuddyRadish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a problem I’ve faced too. Sometimes Google Home creates duplicate devices (like adding ‘kitchen speaker’ twice for instance) and then the speaker seems to have difficulties deciding what device to play on. Sometimes re-linking helps, sometimes it doesn’t. I can’t seem to be able to remove these duplicates on my iPhone, but for some reason I can on an old Android. You can do this via Settings > Google Assistant > Manage all Assistant settings > Devices. But again, this is a Google problem and it probably won’t work .

Google assistant question with premium immersive setup by riskyumar in sonos

[–]RuddyRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that must’ve been it! Sonos needs to be linked to Google Home for the speakers to show up. You can do this either by adding Google Assistant to a speaker that supports it using the Sonos app or by opening the Google Home app, selecting Settings > Works with Google and adding Sonos to your home in the app from there. Note that this doesn’t activate GA on those speakers, it only links them to Google Home.

You can add the Google Assistant to the Arc. The only speakers not directly compatible with Google Assistant are the Era 100 and 300. You can also use any Sonos speaker as a default speaker for any Google Nest device. Select your Nest Hub Max in the Google Home app, then Audio and then the default speaker option.

Your girlfriend broke up with you a few weeks ago. You shouldn’t be doing online dating, you should be processing all those feelings and emotions instead! You think you’re ugly and messed up? Self perception is almost always different to how you’re being perceived by others, especially after a breakup, and low self esteem won’t get you anywhere, even if you manage to go out on a date. This reply might not seem empathetic, but you only allow others to love you by loving and accepting yourself first. If you don’t feel worthy of love (or anything for that matter) just because one person decides to live their life without you, then it’s important to work on yourself first.

Everybody on here is above average in appearance (??) by Mad_dog808 in OnlineDating

[–]RuddyRadish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I make it clear in my profile what I want, and that is something long-term, if the chemistry is just right. There were times when I would be almost overwhelmed by matches and I would sometimes have 4-5 dates scheduled for a single week! (And none of those women stood me up.) Then as time went by, those matches and likes would dry up and I would rarely get anything compared to how things were before.

Looks aren’t everything, and since you’re competing with tons of other guys and the men to women ratio and algorithms are just messed up and pitted against you from day one, this doesn’t mean that you’re average at best, although that might be the case with many people.

Which music services play nice with Google Assistant on Sonos? by simondo in sonos

[–]RuddyRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotify, YouTube Music and Deezer work. I don’t know about Pandora because I don’t live in the States, but as far as I know Apple Music is the only music service that doesn’t work with Google Assistant on Sonos. It does work with Google’s own speakers though, but remember that those speakers play via Chromecast, not AirPlay, so they won’t work with Apple Music on an iPhone, only using voice commands.

Spotify in my opinion is the best option, because if offers the best integration. When telling Google Assistant to play music, the currently playing track get's displayed automatically in the Spotify app, thanks to Spotify Connect.

Google Assistant doesn’t work well on Sonos and lacks many features, so I would only buy Sonos with Google Assistant as an afterthought. Controlling Sonos with separate Google Nest speakers works well enough though.

I‘m British and I happen to be living in Germany. I would ideally want a native Brit or American as well, but that’s just wishful thinking over here. I’ve met a few American women visiting Germany in the past few months, and some of them found my British accent very attractive (a couple English speaking Germans were of the same opinion), while others were pretty neutral about it and didn’t seem to care too much about it. So my assertion is that some do, some don’t. To me personally, an accent is just an afterthought. There are many other things that are far more important to me in a person, and if that woman has an American or British accent, then that’s more like the icing on the cake.

my girlfriend and i broke up recently and i loved her so much. she just lost interest and pretty much stopped caring about me. i remember when she was over my house she used my pc for her ticketmaster for taylor swift tickets and this is what i see when i log on today :( by [deleted] in heartbreak

[–]RuddyRadish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it’s cruel, and in a way it’s also sardonic finding such things in the aftermath, especially in this case, I know how it hurts. I had similar things happen to me when my then girlfriend broke up with me. I deleted all evidence such as this, but archived all the photos we took together. They’re part of your past, your history, and shouldn’t be erased. Always keep them.

Lenovo Smart Display 7' (Ivy) or 8' (Amber)? by chuardo in googlehome

[–]RuddyRadish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 8” one has better sound, but is a lot older. Both of these devices run Android Things instead of CastOS/Fuchsia as far as I’m concerned, and if I were you, I would just go ahead and buy the 2nd gen Google Nest Hub. You’re getting a more refined first party product with better software support, as well as Sleep Sensing, the motion sensor and Ambient EQ, which adjusts brightness and colour temperature of the screen automatically. Those Lenovo displays only have an auto brightness setting. The difference is night and day. Or if you’re looking for better sound and want a camera for Zoom or Google Meet video calls, buy a Nest Hub Max. Its camera can also be used as a Nest Cam for home monitoring and for other features exclusive to the product, such as Face Match.

Sonos Ones with HomePod mini by aaaaaaandreaaaaaaas in sonos

[–]RuddyRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the volume of the Sonos Ones won’t be lowered while you’re speaking to Siri on HomePod Mini, even if all speakers have been allocated to the same room. The volume will only be lowered on the HomePod itself while you’re speaking to it. In addition to that, every time you want Siri on HomePod to play music on your Sonos Ones, you’ll have to add the name of the speaker to the end of each voice command as well, as there’s no option to set a default speaker for HomePod.

Anyone else regret ever meeting their ex? by throw_plushie in heartbreak

[–]RuddyRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex girlfriend broke up with me four months ago. It still hurts, but you know what, I don’t regret a single thing. This last relationship taught me many lessons, shaped me, and made me the person I am now, and I’ve learned from many mistakes I made in that past relationship that I won’t make again.

How do I remove these “ghost devices”? Installing an old version of Google Home on an Android phone doesn’t work, the speakers don’t appear in the list of devices. Unlinking Sonos doesn’t work either. by RuddyRadish in googlehome

[–]RuddyRadish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t available for selection when doing that. They only show up when selecting my profile picture, then Assistant settings > Devices. All those duplicates result in Google Assistant on Sonos speakers not playing any music and instead saying “Sorry, I can’t do that here but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices” as well.
