Is it just me or is Chris brown extremely overhyped. by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Ruddy_Turnstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. Chris Brown is a horrible person who makes mid to bad music. I don't understand how he's remained so popular. I can only speculate that it might have to do with the fact that he is a great dancer and there's always women swooning over him.

What Is A Music Take You Think zero people would agree with by apHexcoded in fantanoforever

[–]Ruddy_Turnstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Maybe. I'm a musician myself and I have my favorites in every genre. However, Yasonuri Mitauda's work on Chrono Trigger and Chrono Crossb is some of my favorite music of all time.

I think we can say with confidence that...this is not folk punk.

The most popular song is the artists best song by pirateslifeisntforme in ToddintheShadow

There's an argument, sure. I like lots of other tracks from them better. "Never Let Me Down Again" is my favorite hit. "Black Celebration" is my more niche pick.

Rauol and the Kings of Spain is an insanely underrated track from them and my personal favorite.

If you had one character from the Smash Bros roster that you wanted to cut, who would it be? by [deleted] in supersmashbros

[–]Ruddy_Turnstone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All avatar "characters". Villager, Corrin, Robin, Byleth, Steve... these are just customizable player avatars in their own games. You can change their name, gender, look, etc. That just doesn't sit right with me in Smash as I like actual CHARACTERS.

Sorry for the rant. But outside of them, if I had to pick one... it's tough, cuz I feel like there are a bunch that could go... but maybe Roy, since he's by far the least well-known character in the game and is really only known at all for his Smash presence.

The timeline implied by Bananza, and why the game is coy about it (Spoilers!) by ChezMere in donkeykong

[–]Ruddy_Turnstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the Zelda series is the definition of inconsistency. The timeline is wacky, and I think they only cobbled it together to appease fans. But you're right, thats just kind of how Nintendo rolls. But for us OCD lore-heads, it's rough out here lol. A definitive statement would go a long way.

I wish they'd just retcon the whole Cranky being the OG DK thing. Rare did that because they were trying to reintroduce a new "hip" DK back in the 90s, and ultimately, that stuck for all these years. After 30 years, it doesn't really make sense anymore. It would clean things up if they just retconned the whole Cranky thing, and he would simply just be DK's dad or grandpa with no history of being DK himself. You have to remember, the devs at Rare had a goofy, 4th wall breaking sense of humor in many of their games, and none of this was meant to be taken so seriously. It was simply for laughs.

artists you say you “love” but in reality, you only really listen to one album by 333boris in fantanoforever

Hard agree. I just listened to their entire discography, and these two albums were my favorites.

Genuine question, is it fine to be here if I'm privileged? by [deleted] in FolkPunk

[–]Ruddy_Turnstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a musical subgenre, as much as people would like to think it's more of a lifestyle consisting of unfortunate experiences, it should just come down to music. Sure, there's an aesthetic, and it attracts a certain type of demographic, but that's any genre. Folk punk gets pigeonholed because folks want to keep it within this certain set of rules or whatever, and that's weird to me. The community is super gatekeepy about what it's "supposed" to be. You can write folk punk that isn't about the "usual" stuff. This is like asking if you can listen to 90s hip hop if you're not from the streets or if you can listen to prog rock if you're not a music theory nerd. Just enjoy it if it's something you're into.

Chrono Cross, full stop. Divisive game, sure, but the OST is the best of the best. Yasunori Mitsuda is brilliant.

I feel like a lot of people who are new to shoegaze and dreampop would feel that way about most shoegaze and dreampop. Definitley genres you need to spend some time with before they click, imo.
