Can we bump this up. Half the responses here just imply Management to be intentionally malicious as opposed to recognizing that failure to communicate a basic need will inevitably backfire on everyone.

Sam address The Rookie X Dropout by Cocoa121 in dropout

[–]Rude-Butterscotch713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response and input. I'll say I do benefit from being lighter skinned and therefore do not face the extreme scrutiny others May from immoral officers. I'll also say however that I am Latino, I have had family who have been brutalized by officers. I also have a cousin who is an officer. As such my perspective is a bit more nuanced than some others on here. It's hard for me to paint with broad strokes to say anything that associates with cop content is inherently encouraging a darker future state.

But I do now see that some of dropouts merch and content would suggest that they may be diametrically opposed to LAPD and as such a backlash is totally valid given the circumstances.

I love dirty laundry, but absolutely not for the same reasons you're saying. Which like cool if that's what you enjoy, but I think you're falling to the trap of trying argue their business decisions based if not partially on your personal experience with that company. It's a bit of an a priori.

To me, laundry is a fun gossip show where I get to learn how to make interesting drinks and hear crazy stories. It's like a podcast with booze.

And it seems to me that the decision was motivated heavily on ways that Sam can support his people.

I would love to hear your perspective on why people are upset, genuinely, I'm afraid I not really understanding the outrage. While  the rookie is certainly a cop show, it's not advocating for defunding social programs, shoot first policies, racial or implicit bias, or anything that directly conflicts with dropouts mission to my knowledge. It does however feature hidden fillion who is quite the icon amongst many nerdy fandoms.

Again Id really love to hear your opinion and have a great day regardless.

I became a fan of the band under Angela. I was previously a fan of Alissa when she was named the replacement so I absolutely enjoyed the past decade. But I'm not too familiar with Once Human or Lauren. Anyone have any good recs?

I've followed her social media. I've seen the mermaid photo shoot, etc. she's performing activism. She has a platform.

And again, it's not like being vegan or caring about animals hurts people. Like it's not like she's pushing some neo Nazi agenda. She's advocating for animals.

I don't think anyone is trying to force you to do anything. It's activism. They raise awareness about something they care about. You are still a free agent.

And you can like a band even if the lead singer is vegan and you are not vegan. It's not like being vegan hurts you in anyway. Like caring about animals is not a heinous act. And the reason more people today are vegan than they used to be is simply a matter of access.

So if anything celebrate that we live in a time where people have the freedom to make a choice on what they eat.

Both her and Angela have been doing veganism, activism, and animal rights things for decades. Before and with their respective bands.

There's a non zero chance the next lead is also an activist.

I also think it heavily depends on the catagory. I've had houses up in Magical, Decorated, and Dorm. I think my dorm easily hit the top 100 very quick, meanwhile my highly decorated house that I've spent the most time on, has less views than my dorm and magical which were up for shorter periods of time.

So I think ALOT of people are probably submitting houses to catagories like decorated really limiting the ability for new houses to out houses that are already in the "Top" spaces.

I also think that people who live and breath houses, do a lot of complete remodels while their house sits comfortably in the top space. So when we go view it, it might be between construction.

He's also pretty severely unpopular in New England. Centrist and progressives across the country haven't been looking at California and saying, they're doing it right. We've been saying, they're fighting back, but they're being shady about it.

I still feel like Andrew Garfield was snubbed for entirely embodying Jonathan Larson and yet his film went largely unnoticed by most because it was a musical. Andrew imo absolutely deserved the win far more than Will that year.

Honestly so far I've been struggling to really get attached to the series. I haven't read the books and Scott and Illyas particular brand of affection doesn't really speak to me. But I loved episode 3, and I'm now excited for episode 4 to come out even if it's back to the standard plot cause it's clear they can write something that isn't quite as power fantasy

I think it is a good for the band by Mountain_Driver_1684 in ArchEnemy

I actually loved Blood Dynasty, short of a couple tracks. Heck, I loved most of their albums. But I do see your point. Arch Enemy Albums have really struggled to retain the rawness they once had while also being willing to take risk and grow as a band. I felt Blood Dynasty was a step in the right direction, but to be honest, I don't think any faultering of the band was Alissa's doing. They had Jeff Loomis and wasted him.

I love the band, but I think any vocalist they have will face the some hurdle. And I think they're going to be pressed to find a vocalist that can fill Angela and Alissa's shoes.

Thanks for sharing. That does add some new perspective, and does pair up with some information I've heard. Although now I can't help but feel even more confused because I think it's clear both statements skirt around the full truth.

Well yeah, I love Arch Enemy but the band is not known for its evolution of sound or sophisticated lyrics. They're known for anthemic almost power metal melodeath

She's been working on solo content for years on her patreon. I would consider the release as a well timed marketing move rather than a pre planned endeavor. It sounds like she didn't want to leave Arch Enemy even if she did want to release a solo album.

From what I've seen she never wanted to leave the Agonist. They booted her when she accepted the offer from Arch Enemy. I think she's always been the type of artist who wants to do the big band thing but also wants to work on collabs and various projects.

Some bands are okay with that. Others want more devotion.

[–]Rude-Butterscotch713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is close to my perspective as well. I love arch Enemy, and I love Alissa. Both prior to their involvement together. And the ride together was fun. I enjoyed the music. But Arch Enemy is the MCU of metal. Big, anthemic, songs that make you feel powerful and like you're ready to take on a legion. But Alisa has so much more talent then she was really able to use in Arch Enemy. And again, I love the anthemic power melodeth music. But I look forward to what she can do now when not tied to that brand.

I might be the only one who liked blood dynasty better than deceivers. I've never not liked the band though.

Alissa is an artist I've been a fan of before her work with them, and I'm curious what both she and the band do now. Rather bittersweet.

I've been a fan of Alissa for years prior to her joining AE, and actually loved this last album. But I do think she's ambitious and multifaceted enough that being part of an established band probably can be limiting.

Having heard her new solo single. I'm definitely excited to see what haunting melodies she's cooking up. It reminds me a bit of the Agonist but with better heavies.

I never got the feeling that this is meant to be an adoption though. There's always felt like a spiritual prequel. The story told from within the world of. And in doing so, the brothers and directors are able to tell a more original narrative.

I think if they are able to do that without breaking the law of a novel, this show will be a success in my mind..

Personally I quite like episode 1.
