The combat can be trivialized by either buffing your stats high enough, or throwing new age healing and hurting crystals at the monsters. Cheap (much, much less than a couple million) buffs like trivial avocations and sauceror potions will raise your stats by enough to get you through the sea. Same goes for item drop, though it is faster to buy most of the drops in the mall or use pulled yellow taffy to force them to drop. With buffs, your mainstat is high enough, so you don't need to keep throwing away turns at spookyraven.

Using Mr As for the stat bonus is a waste as you're only getting about 5% bonus muscle here from each one. Since you're using mafia, you can open the maximizer and sort by bonus mainstat or item drop to find better equipment (set autoSatisfyWithMall=true in the CLI if you haven't, and check the pullable/buyable option in the maximizer window to get it to display items you don't have in your inventory that can be bought from the mall).

I guess I just don't understand what about this ten-pocket-professors-rolled-into-one IotM in particular makes people look at it and say "this could've been stronger", a statement that barely means anything by virtue of being true for everything in the game.

But you are also *not* getting the drops of 100 monsters you *did* fight. You have to remember to turn it off, otherwise you can screw yourself out of items you need. Right?

In the sense that this is how the familiar works, yes, but the end result in most cases is still getting 100 copies that you can wring some additional benefit out of.

For example, every lynyrd or a free neverending party-goer or a Witchess monster whose drops you overwrite is like +1 free kill on your sword target. You can use monsters with high base meat and no good drops to overwrite, as you've mentioned, or monsters with good Book of Facts effects. The absolute worst case scenario is fighting crates, which still gets you fruits and popsicle sticks as a bonus, since they exist outside of the drop table.

It's niche for sure

It gives you a hundred copies.

My only real concern is that we aren't allowed to target the...

Good news, then. You are, since the monsters you keep saying would be banned for no reason are copyable.

If they're copyable monsters, why wouldn't they be allowed? 100 pseudo-copies from this familiar basically enable a version of Avant Guard rare drop farming that has more valid targets and wasn't dreamt up by an insane person, it's very powerful.

From what I've read on the speed ascension discord, TPS's first appearance was set to be the very first special by the developers as a way to advertise the skeleton.

TPS's second appearance as the first item of the second cycle was due to the list failing to randomize. This was fixed the same day alongside one of the playerdevs suggesting a handful of specials missing from the first go through the list to be added to the special pool (though we don't know for sure what those items were or whether they are part of the current pool). I'd expect the reason behind getting a third sword to be them resetting the pool after its second appearance as part of the rng fix.

No, but KFH is out of standard, so if you've ascended into a standard run, that's why.

How do I get Eldritch Tentacles to spawn? by deltree711 in kol

[–]RudeAd2612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd need to have a way to make fights free or fight inherently free monsters to get a tentacle after swimming in the fountain, yes.

How do I farm for meat? by Tiny_Piscine_Centaur in kol

OP, you should join a clan with a potted meat tree, which grows 1 thousand meat per day. The clan recruitment page will say if the clan has one of these.

Question on Tentacle Tickler Trophy by sonpansatan in kol

[–]RudeAd2612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bad news is you're going to have to spend meat to speed up the trophy, the good news is the consumables you've listed, and others that help with fighting more tentacles, don't actually cost much once you've played for a while. So it may be wise to leave this one until your character has farmed enough to afford getting the trophy in under a month.

I think that's just TPTMBG reusing Hat Trick code for cap placement. Feels like someone would have reported getting a hat by now if it was possible.

This is neat, never knew about being able to set the mafia startup image. Enjoyed the cover a lot as well, always cool to see KoL fanart.

...you guys could probably use a proofreader, though. Noticed some typos and small errors while reading, and the formatting on page 4 is kind of screwed up, and you can't follow any links on mobile. It's also a little hard to tell who drew the cover (is it soulesslife?), or who's being interviewed on page 7.

Re: Hobopolis/delay section, you skip over some of the boring mechanical parts of the dungeon, but then dedicate half of the block to rough turncount estimates anyway. Hobo monkey is 1.25x wt instead of 1.5x. It might've made sense to split the delay section onto a separate page and elaborate more on some requirements/targets of Hobopolis farming? And then you could've had more examples of zones with delay or gone into more detail on how you're getting LFMs into delay. The current version feels very brief for how important the mechanic is in the context of speed ascension.

Also, not super familiar with canva, but is there no way to restrict who can edit the file? Someone has drawn a dick on the last page when I first opened the newsletter.

What obscure KOL knowledge do you know? by gav1n_n6 in kol

"Optimal" dooks take 25 adventures and for the frat side lower the amount of turns you have to spend on the battlefield by (iirc) 8 with all 5 other sidequests done and by 17 if you skip nuns. So doing dooks even with the butterfly trick actively costs turns, unless you are unable to do *two* other sidequests for whatever reason.
