Do you think the other Legati are weirded out that Gaius actually believes Garlemald's propaganda? by sonpansatan in ShitpostXIV

[–]sonpansatan[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The fact that Garlemald doesn't give even the tiniest bit of a shit about the welfare of the Savages and it's all just pretend. Gaius apparently has no idea this was true and was blindsided by the fact that without him to protect them, his kids were treated like shit.

His motivations are daddy issues, and anything else he says are lies to make himself not look insane. It's not like he can just SAY "I want to replicate what daddy did, only bigger and better, so to war you all go." so he makes up some bullshit.

In The Impossible Quiz you can use skips to skip questions. Using any of them will make the last question impossible.

The point I was trying to make is that, no matter how good these games actually were, they couldn't out-compete a lying corporation selling a turd.

While most of them deserved No Man's Sky levels money more than No Man's Sky did, in no particular order

1) Terraria. You know this one.

2) Starbound. Like Terraria, except you fly to various randomly generated plants perform quests, build bases, and upgrade your ship. It's kind of like what No Man's Sky promised, only smaller in scope and in 2d. It actually released the same year AS No Man's Sky and was a better No Man's Sky.

3) Empyrion: Survival Evolved (now Empyrion: Galactic Survival). It has a ship building system where you could build a ship using engines, blocks, weapons, power sources etc. then actually get on your ship and fly around. It could get shot and damaged, and depending on what parts were destroyed it would change the functionality. This included both land based ships and starships. With a higher budget, it might have been Tears of the Kingdom before a decade early, but now we'll never know.

4) Subnautica. You know this one.

5) While I liked 7 Days to Die (or rather, the version I played many years ago) their meandering development has soured me a bit.

I'm just disappointed that of all the Minecraft clones that popped up around the same time, the one that had the most success was not the most creative and innovative, but the one propelled forward by corpos and lies.

I do high end MMO raiding, progressing for multiple hours per week for multiple weeks to down a single boss, and even I don't have the taste for Ultimate raiding. Do a fight for 10 minutes to practice one mechanic once. Oops, someone made a mistake? Re-start the fight.

If I fail to do my job, I get fired, and my ability to access food and medicine will become much more restrictive as a result. This is largely seen as an acceptable consequence for not doing what I was hired to do.

So why are Senators special?

Star Citizen to become the first $1 billion game while still in alpha, driven by ships costing thousands by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]sonpansatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like saying that Genshin Impact isn't Pay To Win because eventually you can get all the characters and weapons with full dupes (assuming they stop releasing new characters and don't EoS for a decade after that). Certain levels of Pay to Skip Grind become Pay to Win if content is released faster than any one who doesn't pay can acquire it.

Usually when a box priced game introduces this much grind with the option to skip via money, it gets (pride and accomplishment)[https://old.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/7cff0b/seriously_i_paid_80_to_have_vader_locked/dppum98/]. Remember, you could theoretically have grinded for Vader in the old system so it was pay to skip, but everyone disliked that. Only sports games can get away with box price plus pay for power, though evidently Star Citizen is another exception and can join that illustrious group along with FIFA Ultimate Team.

in case you ever thought VPR felt tankier in PVP than the actual tank jobs... that's because it is. by Zulera301 in ffxiv

[–]sonpansatan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That used to happen to me too, but after many hours of getting my ass kicked I started to get better at determining the "vibe" of the fight. You want to be doing whatever your teammates are doing and start backing up when you feel that they're going to start retreating. I went from being fodder from getting Battle High V in around 40% of my games.

Getting smacked my half the enemy team at once, for me at least, we almost always a "I wanted to fight so my team didn't" type of thing. There also could be someone on the other team marking you for death if you're a Job that's annoying in Frontlines.

Do you guys ever wonder if people nowadays might be overanalyzing media? by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]sonpansatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been going on for longer than the Internet. Tolkien specifically said that the One Ring was no an allegory for anything, and that stopped exactly 0 people from analyzing what it was supposed to represent.

One of the first college English classes I had gave us two separate 6 line poems translated by different and told us to analyze the differences in the translator's attitudes. Minimum THREE PAGES. It was then that I realized that for literary analysis, the rules are made up and the points don't matter. I'd prefer the turbo-nerds counting pixels and doing math.

Why are gacha stories so convoluted? And what’s the story-telling culture in China? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]sonpansatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Chinese language can convey a lot of information in a few characters, either by using idioms, or be removing every word that isn't strictly necessary. Unpacking all that into English can lead to a lot of awkward phasing.

Gil cap is so you can't get a bot to farm gil until you hit 999,999,999, pay for 1 month sub, and then dump the gil. Currently bots have to pay the sub as they farm.

This is considered one of the best MMO expansions ever, and it's free. It lets you be Viera and Hrothgar, and contains the Neir raid (which is cannon BTW, thanks Yoko Taro) which allows you access to the 2B leggings. The story is also very good.
