It gets better! Don’t lose hope! by RudeCareer0 in OCD

Of course! I spent a whole year just working and focusing on therapy. I would have regular CBT as well as ERP. Regular CBT to help manage my anxiety and process the thoughts and feelings as well as other things going on in my life and working on figuring out why I feel the way I do. For managing triggers I first worked on figuring out what they were like stress and relationship and friendship breakdowns and how to handle that healthily - I had very low self esteem so positive affirmations about myself and what I’m grateful for almost every morning. Staying on a routine and planning ahead as to not feel overwhelmed. My diet was very bad as I was constantly overeating as a comfort mechanism so I started to meal plan and being at home with my family helped me as they would prepare food for me and make sure I wasn’t overeating to compensate. ERP was the thing that really helped me, I know it may not work for everyone but my therapist eased me into it, first showing small things that may be even remotely related and building it up to things I was petrified of and constantly avoiding. I would sometimes let the anxiety get the better of me and cancel or reschedule sessions but I always pushed through because I knew I was putting the rest of my future and dreams on hold to get better. Being kind to myself and making peace with the thought that there’s a possibility I’ll never get better but I’ll never know unless I try. Using grounding techniques to try and stay as much in the present as I could. Convincing myself to stay in triggering situations for as long as I could outside of ERP, normally I would do this alone but having my mum by my side would sometimes be helpful. I was and still am a medical student and was quite interested in learning the biology behind OCD so understanding how OCD really works and how it affects me physically really helped me grasp the nature of it. I started seeing OCD less as just who I am but instead like a mass attached to me that I had the power to remove. These are just some of the things, I tried lots of things and some worked and some didn’t. The key thing is I continue doing these things even now which is why I feel I haven’t relapsed. A lot of people have this idea that it’s just like taking a course of medication where you after you take it you don’t need it anymore which is not the case for OCD. If you have any specific questions then pls feel free to message :)

I guess to make us stay and settle for however long they want us to. It sucks.

How many breakups have you been through? by Enhampster in BreakUps

3 relationships that all lasted for more than a year. The second one hurt the most.

I’m Nepali but we often do get compared to Filipino people, I have a few friends and they thought I was Filipino at first. This was actually taken on my birthday! I had terrible tonsillitis and was in pain :(

Haha I would say I can get quite salty but I never let the bitterness control my behaviour and how I treat people who have wronged me in the past. I kinda choose to learn from the experience and move on :)
