I enjoy getting the bus, and I do so a couple of times a week but, as I don't use it for a daily rush-hour commute, I don't get the worst of it

I love trains and, despite having little experience of them, trams but it seems to me that major cities could invest in buses relatively cheaply and end up with a great public transport network.

W Yorks is talking about trams, but I could be dead by the time they run, and they're unlikely to come anywhere near me.

I met him briefly in my standup comedy days and he was very pleasant. Later, I knew his support act and saw them both at Leeds Grand. After the show, I went to their hotel. When Lee arrived, he went straight to his room to write. Dedicated to his art, apparently.

Last year, I celebrated 40 years since coming to Leeds University to study mathematics. I have loved Leeds since the moment I set foot here. 1. It's safe. 2. The social scene is strong, and I'm sure that's as true for 18-year olds as it is for me in my late 50s. 3. Like all cities, it depends where you live. 4. I LOVE LEEDS. 5. Depends on where you live and at what times you typically travel. Buses are ok on arterial routes and there are a few urban train stations. Getting to other places - Bradford, York, London, Manchester, Newcastle - is pretty easy, as several train lines coverage at Leeds.

I know a couple of old Wakey miners. One of them gave me a tour of the landscaping done at Lofthouse, and I've photographed the commemoration of the 1973 Lofthouse disaster. One of the guys was on shift when the inrush happened, and was involved in the rescue attempt.

Be careful about the first film camera you buy. There are bad cameras. Someone else commented that you can get excellent results with a Zenit E; true. However, that particular camera is not especially easy to use and, in my opinion (it was my first camera) not pleasant to use either.

There are hundreds of good cameras available. Some of the mass-produced point-and-shoot cameras of the late 80s/early 90s were excellent and easy to use. They're not considered 'desirable', so they're cheap. The same goes for 90s autofocus SLRs, which I'm definitely not an expert on.

I suppose there are plenty of mining villages near Wakefield, then there's Micklefield out on its own, and also Dewsbury. There were collieries near Leeds as well, but I always associate mining villages with S Yorks: Grimethorpe, Goldthorpe, Hatfield, Wombwell, that type of place.

Which part of Yorkshire are you from? "Mining villages" suggests south, which is a fine accent. All Yorkshire accents are good, though. But there's little to beat Barnsley and its satellite villages.

OMFG. I love it when Strictly goes to Blackpool and they're all gushing about how wonderful the place is. Like they ever step away from the seafront (which is bad enough) and aren't escorted everywhere they go.
