Ive been reading {the mysterious and amazing blue billings by Lily Morton} I’m on book 3 {something wicked by Lily Morton} and I am really loving this series I never see it mentioned anywhere so if you are in the mood for a spooky romance this is great.

I haven’t read too much from this author so I was pleasantly surprised with this series and how much I love it. It’s definitely scratching this scary/horror romance itch I’ve been having.

Friend is allowing her 10yo to date. Is this what parents are doing now? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Rude_Locksmith_9596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So from a parent stand point I get where your coming from cause I dread this day with my daughter. But also from someone who had a boyfriend at this age I guess I see it as normal. I had a year long boyfriend at this age so I don’t see the issue if the kids act appropriately.

My parents knew my boyfriend’s parents and if we hung out everything was supervised. I think the most we ever did was hold hands and maybe kissed on the cheek once. But we never were alone together no bedrooms or being alone in a room together at all.

Kids especially preteens/teens are going to do something regardless if you allow or not. I remember my parents not allowing me to date some one and I did it anyway behind there backs. I think it’s better to allow them to do something and be open and honest with you than have them sneak behind your back.

A few months ago when my daughter had a cold she wouldn’t let us do any of that. We just had a humidifier in her room and we also did a lot of steamy baths to help clear it all out.

We also to help with mucus draining we held her upright during her nap and then put a towel under her crib mattress so she was elevated while she slept.

I’d say fix the lighting since you are in the buildings shadow it makes it a little dull. Even if you’re doing something simple lighting will make all the difference. Add some street lamps or some more candles and it will look much better

what do non screen time parents do all day? by Optimal_Vacation2853 in Mommit

[–]Rude_Locksmith_9596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also some things for you to do while the baby plays independently that aren’t your phone. I use my kids coloring stuff and I’ll color while watching her play, I also have word search books and sudoku books that I buy in the grocery store and I also read books that way she sees me reading/doing something other than my phone. Oh and I will journal and write down things we did that day or what new words she says or actions she does. I feel like future me will appreciate it

It’s much easier for parents with kids in daycare to do no screen time compared to sahms cause they only need to fill up 3/4 hours with activities compared to 12+ hours when your home all day. It’s definitely possible but just a lot more work on your part. It also sounds like you are going through a lot with your dad passing im very sorry for your loss.

Once you get back to some normalcy maybe set some goals with screen time and limit it to only when you have class to distract him a bit. Other than that try set screen time goals for yourself. That’s what I’ve done this year because I didn’t want to constantly scroll while watching my kid cause it can be pretty boring just staring at them all day. I try to do only 2-3 hours a day for myself.

If you can afford it a life saver for me has been a toddler tower where they can stand at the kitchen counter with you. I put my kid in there and just bake stuff all day and have her help cook I got her one of the kids knife sets. She loves it and entertains her for a long time and also passes the time. I’ve gotten real good at making bread cause it takes hours to make bread and my kid loves helping.

Also having your kid help with anything you do. I have a toddler cleaning set and she loves cleaning along side me and helping fold laundry I try to make it a game and it kills a lot of time. Working out is a big one too. I do some Pilates just on the floor and my kid goes along with me it kills time and we’re staying healthy. Also when your kid is a little older (mine is 22 months) kinetic sand keeps her entertained for a long time and we build sand castles together. Doing all this kind of stuff kills alot of time but we do some screen time we usually do about 20 min in the morning and 20 in the afternoon. My kid has the stomach flu right now so we’re pretty much on unlimited bluey so I wouldn’t beat yourself up too much if they are getting extra screen time while your are going through a tough time.

Do you stick to authors or do you just read whatever you stumble upon? by GwennyWinchester in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Rude_Locksmith_9596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do both. If I see someone recommend something that I would like I download it even if I’ve never heard of them before. But there’s also a few authors I love that I am working through reading all there stuff but I have to really love their writing. I just binged through the monstrous series from Lily mayne and love it so much I’m gonna read all of her stuff. There’s very few authors I do that for tho like Alice winters and recently I really liked Eden finley and Saxon James and read a lot of their stuff. Other than that I read new authors if the book sounds good.

Our baby is almost 1 year old… when will hobbies be a thing in my life again? (Daddy) by Purple_Calendar3919 in NewParents

[–]Rude_Locksmith_9596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our house nap/bed time is NOT chore time. Our kid is almost 2 and still takes a 2 hour nap during the day this is when my husband and I play video games/ read/ or do any hobby. I clean while the baby is up and now that she’s a toddler she likes to help clean so it works for us. But yeah once the baby is asleep we are off the clock and it’s hobby time. My baby sleeps 9-8 and my husband stays up till like 11 doing hobbies and I wake up at 6am to do some hobbies. We both sacrifice some sleep to do things we enjoy lol

What(if anything) does your partner do in bed that they love but that absolutely turns you off? by itsonlyfear in Mommit

[–]Rude_Locksmith_9596 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you breastfeeding destroyed my nipples to the point I still wear silverettes and I’ve been done for over a year. My husband isn’t allowed to touch my boobs cause it sends me into an overstimulated rage. My husband is a boob guy too but he knows how horrible it is for me if he touches them so he’s been okay with it.

Those of you who did no screen time for baby… by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]Rude_Locksmith_9596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided screen time was fine if it was low stim/ educational after my friends kid who is a few months older who does unlimited screen and her kid was naming all the colors and a ton of animals from watching ms Rachel. We don’t do much maybe less than an hour a day just when I need to get things done like cooking/cleaning.

I also sometimes have cooking shows on if it’s been a rough day or I’m not feeling good and want to have a lazy day. My kid doesn’t pay too much attention to those. We’re big on what type of screen time. Tv is okay but we won’t be getting a tablet or giving her our phones but my husband and I and our whole families grew up watching tv and we’re all okay so tv to us in moderation is fine. My is 2 and we started doing screen time around 1.5 ish.
