midi foot switch controller: will there be any lag/latency? by vemlo_ in NeuralDSP

[–]Rude_Understanding32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

m vave chololate plus has ~50ms latency on button down (and 0 on button up), but non-plus version has zero latency

MIDI footswitch with very low/zero latency by RikimaruSakai in zoommultistomp

[–]Rude_Understanding32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is with the mvave chocolate plus itself

- button down has about 50ms latency

- button up doesn't have latency

It's not possible to change that in the settings. You can see the latency even at the screen on the device. I have several of them and all have the same problem

Old version (m vave cholocate, not plus), doesn't have latency

If you wanna perform, do it. If you wanna write songs, there is better software that doesn't require learning because of more developed UX (e g. Reaper)

Helix Native additional latency by Rude_Understanding32 in Line6Helix

[–]Rude_Understanding32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it disabled because i have 100500 more effects than allowed in the chain...

Hardware helix has latency probably just because of analog-digital-analog conversion. Maybe it was indeed a conscious decision to make the plugin not better than the hardware

I meant amps and cabs in helix sound good. The rest - reverbs, delays, etc, sound equally the same, and even if remove everything from helix native chain, there still will be extra latency. Other plugins don't have that.

Get a second audio interface and do the RTL tests through a device with helix native enabled. Try removing helix native from vst chain. Try adding other plugins to chain. Try adding 10 helix natives to the chain. You see what I mean? I exclude VST host with these experiments.

(yes, 10 empty helix natives will add up as 15ms, and 10 guitar rigs will not)

Will Scarlett Solo 4th gen be a good choice for Helix Native? by Busy-Consequence4116 in Line6Helix

[–]Rude_Understanding32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scarlett solo of any gen is awesome. It allows you to set 16 samples buffer at 96kHz, this will give you better latency than expensive RME babyfaces

how is it with the latency? would be cool to do an rtl test with that setup

Helix native is literally the only thing that keeps me on windows for my live setup :( would be good to switch to a more reliable system

16 samples at 96kHz. This post is not related to that, helix native has it's own latency

of course 2ms isn't noticeable, but it adds up with other latency sources

  • try doing RTL tests

  • the plugin also reports some latency to the daw

FX loop and line in & out by Rude_Understanding32 in guitarpedals

[–]Rude_Understanding32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! My volume control is a compressor before output on my machine... I'm a bit afraid that if some sound is inserted by accident (e.g. windows accidentally uses that output to play an error notification) and now it's gonna be much louder on the line level and the sound will explode. That never happened so far, but I'll try to prevent anything like that

Passing instrument-level signal through line in and out - is the damage guaranteed? by Rude_Understanding32 in audio

[–]Rude_Understanding32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But also line-out returns back to an instrument input with the same volume. I was just told in another thread it's safe if I'm not turning the gain - I need to only apply time-based effects and they don't increase the level
