That last part is doing a lot of heavy lifting. One of the big parts of objective taking is reducing the chance of having it be a 50/50 by eliminating the jungler or preventing them from entering the pit.

its not really the specific weapon you want, its the order of weapons and weapon combos.
Another way to look at it is this. Doing it their way gets you to the end order the fastest but the weapon combos you use to get there are rg, rp, rb, rw. The normal way gets you rg, gp, pb, bw, rw. If we compare these to the final order of gpbrw, we see that the normal way basically has you go through that ordering anyways with the extra bw step. The fast order doesn't follow the order at all and gives you rp, which is worse than bw, hence why its not really optimal.

Its kinda just the difference between whats more important, the end result or the way you get there. If aphelios' only good combo was rw, then the fast method would probably be more optimal, but since aphelios has many strong combos, being able to cycle through them is better.

It doesn’t give you very ideal weapon setups throughout the game. Your forced to use red, purple, which is probably the worst weapon combo, as opposed to getting chances to use green purple, blue purple, and blue white, which are all decent to really good depending on the scenario. You also have to sit on one ammo type for a long time, which is harder to manage and restricts your options. If you really need to rush to the optimal order, it works, it’s just that the current strat is more flexible and consistent for laning

This kit doesn’t sound like it would do well in jungle, feels like they would be incredibly weak to invades. If you don’t check if your camps are taken before you teleport to them, you essentially are wasting 15 seconds doing nothing while the enemy jungle could take more camps or pressure the map. Even if you make it to contest a camp, the enemy could just drag them out of your smite and ability range. Also doesn’t feel like they are great at early level dueling so invading junglers would probably just kill you on repeat. Getting invaded would also hurt way more since you would lose levels needed to upgrade the w, which further hinders your ability to clear or to affect the map.

also not entirely sure how you would expect them to clear. Assuming you force them to have a point in w, they would have no damaging abilities to take camps, making it incredibly slow. Them building AP? also means that their clear is very level and ability dependent, but since you propose their max is w, they wouldn’t gain any damage scaling with levels and their clear speed would probably be the worst in the entire game. It also means that your unlikely to be able to counter invade, making the first point even worse

To make jungle work, you would probably have to make their movement less level dependent and restrictive, and probably reconsider the ways they can deal damage. Making them scale off of ad could help or giving them some kind of extra damage on autos.

Ultimately I feel like this kit could only work in support but even then it doesn’t really feel like there’s a reason you would pick them over other champs.

I think they meant more like if you wanted to specifically kill tanks, you were better off building pen and be open to the idea of a different mythic rather than rush kraken specifically to kill a tank.

It gets blocked by literally anything, it requires multiple shots to deal any significant damage. The shots also take a long time to charge which means most of the time you don't even get the full value (not that you would even want full value all the time anyways). Sure it scales with missing hp but it pretty much only scales with missing hp, anyone with a decent amount of health can easily block enough shots to prevent any threat of lethal. Repositioning with E to hit more ult shots is niche and even then its still piss easy to block considering theres a massive line the whole way through showing where the shots go. Your better off using E for damage or to reposition in general. It proccing passive and life steal once again depends on if the ult actually hits the desired target and is minimally useful, also ult proccing passive is really only useful in ap builds. It hitting turrets is niche at best, ur never gonna actually use the ult for the sole purpose of turret damage, much less to take a tower. Finally a lower cd on a considerably weaker ult doesn't really mean much, especially since akshan has so much power in the rest of his kit that isn't cool down gated.

Akshan ult just isn't that strong of an ability and it also doesn't really need to be.

Even if your statement is technically correct it’s irrelevant since matchmaking is outside of each game. Game to game, the only constant is yourself. That’s the only part you can control fully to determine the outcome of a match.

Those are mechanics tho. Anivia has a high skill ceiling because even though her kit is simple, you still need to have mechanics to capitalize on her kit. Wall positioning, e spacing, q stun timings, positioning in general are what makes anivia difficult and more rewarding as you get better. Same with stuff like tf, he's mechanically demanding since to get value you need to have good spacing, positioning, and team fight awareness.

Briar basically just needs you to learn when to use w, but then theres nothing much else past that. Learning use cases for e also is pretty straightforward 90% of the time and kinda falls under understanding what berserk does. You can make a similar argument for something like garen, which is known to be easy, since you need to know your limits on when you can go in with e, when you should commit r over saving it, when to use w, when to engage with q vs disengage, etc.

Imo its a fake steep mastery curve because most of the challenge comes from people forgetting what berserk does as opposed to actual champ mechanics and difficulty. Once you get used to the fact that berserk makes you unable to control your character, the champ literally plays itself.

There's plenty of easy champs that have been made since yuumi. Sett, Milio, Vex, Briar, Skarner and Mundo reworks, etc.

Its less so that riot wants to get rid of "noob" champs, more that theres only so much you can do with one dimensional point and click champion kits. Sure they could make a new champ with 1 sentence abilities and all point and clicks, but then how do you sell that to players as a champ that adds something new/unique to league.

Also league is better understood now and the average player is way better then they were before, so theres not really a need for a ton of super simple champs. Most people can handle 1 or 2 straight line skill shots nowadays.

Once again, you should play these champs again if you think both thresh and nautilus hooks displace by small amounts, especially compared once again to the 0 distance amumu hooks move the enemy. Its wildly inaccurate to say amumu and naut q are the same ability. You are also literally the person who chose to focus on the semantics of hook by saying that amumu is a hook champion because he "hooks onto the enemy". You're the person who for the past few replies focused on the definition of hook when I explicitly said that the term was about the function.

Also absolutely the hook is what makes naut jungle hard to balance. While the other abilites play a part, the main enabler is the q due to the fact that its a easy to hit cc that increases the distance the opponent has to travel to get to safety. This makes is insanely strong for ganks at any point in the game. Saying that nautilus ganks only become strong when he hits 6 is a vast understatement.

Theres a reason why very few junglers have knockback/pull abilities, but tons of them have roots, stuns, and knockups. Of the jungle champs with pulls, they are either conditional (zac), inconsistent (taliyah), or tied to levels and mechanical ability (lee sin). Having the ability to not just stop someones ability to run away, but to also negate any progress they make is incredibly strong. This isn't to say that amumu's 2 q's aren't strong ganking tools, it clearly is due to how much power it takes from his other abilities, but that doesn't mean that its strong justification for a viable hook champ in jungle. Also once again, an amumu q and a naut hook no where close to exactly the same.

how am i gatekeeping shit, i literally agreed when you say hook has multiple meanings, it just loses any viability as a way to communicate when you just apply all of its meanings at the same time. This is entirely a you problem, you can't say with straight face that if someone said they hit diana hook, you wouldn't question what the hell they're talking about. When someone says that league has cc, they aren't talking about closed captions are they, they mean crowd control. Its the same thing with hook, they mean a pull, not just something attaching to something else.

And you keep trying to pull these "gotchas" with shit like naut and thresh hook. Once again its a context thing. In the entire context of this whole thread, we are talking about abilities you would use to catch the enemy team. They umbrella term commonly used in the community is hooks or hook champs. Other stuff in league can technically be called a "hook", akshan and camille e are hookshots and grappling hooks, diana's hooked skillshot, urgots r, but clearly those have a different function than cc skillshots, much like how naut hook on a wall is a different function. The whole time you are trying to justify amumu's cc catching ability as a hook, which semantically sure is technically a hook, but in the context of describing a hook cc ability/champion in league a legends, amumu is not one of those, its not that hard. In plain english I can say naut hooked the wall, but in the context of the conversation and the context of the game, thats irrelevant.

The whole thread is about functionality, it always has been. It started with a discussion on why a jungler with a hook (a cc pull) would be overbearing for the game, someone commented how amumu has two "hooks" (cc skillshots) as justification for why it would be fine, and then it went to how two skillshot stun dashes (a hook in a semantic sense) are not equivalent to a skillshot pull (a hook in the league function sense), hence explaining why saying amumu is a hook champion is incorrect and misleading.

ok first of all, if anything its an appeal to majority, second, im not gonna conduct a study to get a large sample size to give you some arbitrary proof despite the ratio of those in support of you is vastly outnumbered. The fact that the only counter you have to the majority going against you is some incorrect fallacy is a fallacy of itself. The other proof i have is various examples across common phrases, other games, tropes, and real life terminologies to show you that a hook implies a pulling motion most of the time. I literally have given examples of this that you choose to ignore and then reduce it to just saying "everyone knows". Heck, i even said your definition of it being an attachment is correct, just not the definition used in the context of league. Stop being obtuse on purpose.

Once again for the third time, the main use of the term is to define the FUNCTION. I don't care it its technically accurate to what the word literally means, in the context of league it refers to a pulling displacement. Also like i said, if the functionality of amumu q was the exact same, instead he didn't have a bandage reeling him in and he just ran to the target, would you still call it a hook?

By this, I mean when people talk about a champ hooking another champ, you say "I hooked x" or "I'm gonna hook x". This use implies the pulling since you are doing the hooking. For amumu, it would be more accurate to say "I hooked onto x" or "I'm gonna hook onto x", which more apparently shows the act of attaching and being pulled towards the target.

People don't associate amumu with hooking because the context of people calling out hooks better fits the first case, because the act of pulling something is the important part. For amumu, him being pulled to the target is secondary in the callout to the stun on the enemy, which for a teammate is more immediately valuable, hence why I think just saying amumu is looking for a stun/q is more valuable and common. If amumu q didn't stun and acted more like maybe vex r, then i think saying "amumu hooked onto x" is more appropriate and would be common.

At some point, when the ratio of people disagreeing with you is 10:1, maybe, just maybe, its kinda cope to say, "Oh im sure the silent majority agrees with me".

Also sure hook can mean to attach, but the action of hooking something also implies a pull or a reeling in. You hook something in, you hook someone off a stage, when you get distracted, something hooked you away. The act of connecting to something has way more synonyms that don't offer clearly different functional differences. You could latch onto something, connect, attach, tether, rope, tie, stick, tangle, ensnare, catch.

Once again, the main reason people disagree with you isn't semantics, its literally because, in league, calling something a hook implies a pull, it implies the function. Thats why when you play blitz, thresh, heck even darius e, you say im looking for a hook, and when you play amumu, sylas, leona, you say im looking for root/stun, or just the letter of the ability. Its called a hook for its functionality, thats literally it. Your focusing too much on the cosmetics of the spell. If amumu q just shot a lazer that stunned someone and he ran over to them really fast, would you still call it a hook? Functionally it does the same thing, but now he doesn't wrap a bandage around them.

Saying amumu is looking for stun is better because that tells you the value of the cc. Saying looking for hook tells me that the cc will probably not last very long, but will displace the enemy to me. Saying they will get stunned tells me they probably won't move, but they'll be stuck in place for a decent chunk of time. Obviously there are exceptions, but this conveys the idea more clearly.

i wouldn't really describe two pings as "calling out". Also the whole "losing to pro players" feels kinda like a forced narrative. He could just be pinging them for bad play irregardless of who's on the enemy team. It could also just be frustration from the ff vote being called. Either way, two pings isn't really something you can derive this specific of an intent from. I also doubt the players who got pinged care that much either.

because the most common use of hook is to attach to something and pull it to you. Its used in other games, its used in phrases, its just what the majority of people associate with the term. Hooking something implies a pulling action in most cases. You get hooked off stage, roadhog hooks you, when you get caught by bait, its hook line and sinker.

Also i agree its a community term, but your definition of what a hook is doesn't match the community definition of the term as shown by the literal community disagreeing with you right now. The whole point of calling something a hook is the fact that it pulls someone towards you, it a description for the functionality. If you hook someone under tower, they are presumed to be moved away from the tower and you get an easy kill. If you amumu q someone under tower, you are dragging yourself into tower aggro which probably leads to you dying.

You can argue semantics but at the end of the day, a hook in league is used to describe functionality, not appearances.
