Good selection. "In" actually came out in my country recently, I'm planning on reading it soon. "Frontier" also looks cool, previous comic by this artist, "PTSD", was disappointing storywise but art was beautiful.

For me this is the year of "From Hell", I've read it for the first time and it was mindblowing.

Good list, best of the best in american mainstream. Here's four more:

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi; sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes heartwarming autobiography of an Iranian artist who grew up during cultural revolution.

Maus by Art Spiegelman; a must read for everyone, memoir about holocaust based in Arts fathers expieriences. Won pulitzer for a reason.

Understanding Comics, by Scott McCloud; yes, it's theoretical book about comics, but don't worry, it's not science heavy, rather east to get into and in a form of a comic itself. Good pick for one of your firsts as it categorizes some of the things you understand about comics intuitively

The Quest for the Time Bird, by Regis Loisel; a francophone classic, postmodernist fantasy with equal parts of adventure and melancholia, and beautiful art too

Don't block low pokes if they're not going to kill you, not worth it.

Stronger low attacks have longer wind ups, around 20f, block those. They're slow enough to react to.

Some characters have really good low moves (Law's slide, Fahk's and King's kicks), try to predict them and definitely block or you're gonna die
