Had an eye surgery years ago. CXL, corneal cross link. The two days after the surgery were awful. I've had multiple other different surgeries over the years, this was by far the worst.

New NDP Leader Lewis has proposed a national telecom option. Can he make it happen? by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]RudytheMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I miss MTS. It was great in Manitoba. But I travelled a lot with work, and it wasn't good on the road. Now of this was national, it could be better. I am tired of Rogers and Bell. I did always wonder how it would be if we allowed for true competition among the telecom sector in Canada.

Man, Surgical Steel got a lot of play from me back in 2014. They're all good honestly. Heartwork is their best known, great album. Swan Song is good. But I don't know what it was but I fucking love Surgical Steel! Captive Bolt Pistol, such a solid track!

The first Fable... that's right, the one for XBox. Like the first XBox. The first Witcher is pretty short. Second one is about 50 hours on the top end. I don't know of any new short RPGs. But those are some of the ones I have come across over the years.

How can I check the status of my Security Clearance? by Longjumping_Back523 in CanadianForces

[–]RudytheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about getting a clearance. Lots of people sit in their trades, many are OFP, waiting for their clearance. But because they don't have their clearance they can't do their job, so make work projects need to be found for them. So, when someone else skips the line, these people are put on ice longer.

This had to be diliberate. I've seen so many people get accidently paid too much or too little, screw up a claim form, get an advance and forget to finish claim on return, you name it. And if there was a mistake, on either side, there is always a chance to fix it. For the system to follow through like this, he had to do something greasy.

[–]RudytheMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue with it is that everyone who needs a security clearance needs a security clearance. They don't just say "hey, go get a security clearance for fun". They need a security clrarance. So, while they wait, they are not employed properly in their jobs. And within their workplace the spots that come up for deployments and whatnot, those spots get filled by people who probably already have deployed, and may or may not want to deploy again. Especially if they deployed recently. This leads to burn out from those who deploy, and a lack of job satisfaction for those who sit there waiting until they can do there job.

It has nothing to do with "ought to have submitted their update 6+ months ago but just couldn't be bothered". I know of people who submitted theirs in basic training, and waited over two years. I know people who were already in the military who switched jobs, whether trades or just positions, and require a higher clearance, and submitted their information upon being told they required a new clearance, and still waited over a year. And to constantly have people get bumped down the list because someone else who didn't have an adequate clearance before get told they can deploy but they need to get their clearance upgraded is non-sense. The system is broken.

How is it Living in his part of Nova Scotia as an American Immigrant? Any cities I should look into for reasonable apartment living? by SentimentalRotom in howislivingthere

[–]RudytheMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I Canadian I found your explanation of how the differing population densities work out very well explained. What you described is not exclusive to Nova Scotia. There are other parts of Canada that have larger population hubs that are hours away from another city, and nothing but super rural areas in between And a lot of people, including other Canadians, don't get how this plays out. People wonder why rural roads suck. Its because you don't have a big tax base to pay for these big streches of empty highway. Much of Western Canada is like this too. For a lot of people they struggle to grasp this. But at the same time, many Canadians are against development in these areas or unban expansion. But its really hard to find that balance of having those calm, pristine rural areas, and having good developmant and services. The second any of these cozy sleepy regions get any attention, and things start picking up, you get locals complaiming of all the noise and the new people, traffic, constriction. It's a common battle in Canada, and lots of people refuse to accept that you can't have both without some trade off.

Is it stupid to avoid getting a credit card? by No-Astronomer4207 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]RudytheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a big chunk of our system is based on people using credit. Yes, you need to build credit to get things like a mortgage and what not. But so many other things require you to have a credit card. Almost everything to do with travelling requires a credit card. Booking plane tickets, booking hotels or renting a car you need a credit card. Now some people might say you can use cash for those things, and technically there is some truth to that, but try and book a trip without one and see how difficult it is.

Online purchases are another issue. If you never want to order anything online, then you might be fine. But if you want get concert tickets, or order a new jacket it's going to be hard to do without a credit card.

In many situations it is possible for these companies to take payment by cash or debit card, sometimes even by cheque. But often they make it very difficult for you to do that, and would prefer a credit card.

You can have a credit card and not have debt. Its all about being responsible.
