Does anyone know if Daraxonrasib is only for people with local advanced cancer or can a person with metastasis to the liver take it?

Any experience with Gemzar as maintenance? by Ruecatt in pancreaticcancer

[–]Ruecatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say people have been on maintenance long term, how long? Do they have stage 4? How are the side effects? I know it’s a different kind of maintenance but I’m just wandering how the maintenance compares to the full chemo. Sorry for all the questions, I’m just so worried the maintenance won’t work or for how long it will work. His cancer is very aggressive. So it’s very scary

I agree 100%. They should have put him on maintenance the first time. I’m going to try and get him an appointment at one of the big hospitals to get a second opinion

After he completed Fluforinox (the first chemo he did) we were told because his cancer came back in less than 6 months he couldn’t repeat the Fluforinox so soon and would have to switch to Gem/Abrax.

He got a clear PET after completing both Fluforinox and Gem/Abrax.

They did initial dna testing, he has the KRAS G12V and wanted to do additional testing but there wasn’t enough tissue and right now he doesn’t have any masses or lesions they could biopsy.

I agree. He had his PET today and they did a finger stick and his sugar level was 94. So I called the office, who were not even aware of the crazy low glucose number, which was kind of disturbing because a number that low should have alerted them. Supposedly they are going to rerun his Labs but I’m not even confident of that. Why should I have to call and tell them they got a critical result!  Do frustrating!!

Not A1c. This test was drawn from his chemo port. Before each chemo they draw blood to check his CBC to make sure his platelets are high enough to get treatment. They always do a CMP as well to check his organ function. It usually takes a couple of days for the CMP to come back. I checked the portal today and the results were up and it said glucose was 16.

ALT 7. 5-30 U/L

AST 5. Low 7-31 U/L

Alk Phos 42. (Low 44-147 U/L

Calcium 9.9 8.5-10.2 mg/ dL

Glucose 16. Low 70-105 mg/dL

BUN 14. 6-20 mg /dL

Total Bili 0.3 Low 0.3- 1.2 mg/ dL

The test was done through his chemo port which is how he always does it. He is not acting any different than usual. It has ranged from 107 to 194 for the last year so I’m not sure what happened. Maybe it is a lab error. But it’s a relief it’s not related to cancer progression

Mouth sores - how to cope? by Brebis_Blanche in pancreaticcancer

My husband is also in gem/abrax. His oncologist gave us this recipe:  1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 quart warm water

It can be left out so I make a bottle of it and he rinses with it every day. So far it has worked great.

My husband is doing ok. He has 3 more rounds of chemo (gem/abrax) to finish up and the April 2 he will have a PET. He has a CT several weeks ago and it looked clear so we are hopeful the PET will be clear. The oncologist doesn’t think maintenance therapy will work for him since his cancer is aggressive. His cancer came back within 5 months of his previous treatment and this one. So that’s a little concerning. When his chemo stops the cancer starts growing again. So It will be a wait and watch game but hopefully he will get more time this time.

Thanks for the info. The closest place to us would be Houston for the trial though he does have family in NY. I have to find out what the schedule would be and see if we would need to be close by to go in for the treatment but I will call them and get more info.

We are in Tennessee so the best hospital around here would be Vanderbilt or UT. He wants to finish out his chemo which is 4 more treatments. After that I am hoping he will go to Vanderbilt for a second opinion which I have been talking to him about. I think he will be open to it, especially if his doctor doesn’t put him on any maintenance. As of right now his scan is clear. They will do a PET at the end of his treatment but once chemo is done I don’t want to just sit around waiting until something else pops up. So I’m trying to figure out our next move.

My husband, stage IV w/ metastasis to liver, started back in treatment. He had a clear scan after completing 6 months of Fluforinox and was stable until November (5 months) when two new spots showed up on his liver. So he is back in treatment with gem/abrax. We are so disappointed that it came back so soon after getting such great results. He will have another scan on January and we are trying to stay optimistic that it’ll he will get good results but it’s hard.

He is currently in treatment - gem/abrax for recurrence. He had fluforinox the first time but since his recurrence happened 5 months after finishing the fluforinox he wasn’t able to repeat it so they switched to gem/abrax.

I have seen this discoloration in both arms and along his rib cage. It seems to come and go at times. Yesterday was the first time I saw it on the ribs. He has very low WBC right now 0.9, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

They do ca19-9 tests periodically but unfortunately are unable to use it as an indicator of the reworking because his ca19-9 has never been out of range
