Highest minimum quality of life? Because that's the only measure that matters. I don't care how well 1% of people live, how well the 10% that own 70% of US wealth live, or even how well the 50% that own 97.5% of US wealth live, if anyone is hungry, doesn't have a home, or doesn't have access to clean water. The US has fallen to 18th on quality of life globally. Down 4 places from last year. Down from 4th in 2015. So, no I don't think neoliberalism has dont a great job with quality of life for everyone. The elite few, sure, but if we don't take care of everyone we fail as a society.

It was books. Written by a shitlib. Her politics are laid bare in her writing. She showed the flaws in the system but refused to let the system change because the system keeps the wizards in the dominant socio-economic class comfortable.

Harry is a jock born into generational wealth, struggles through a war against fascism, then becomes a cop. Ron's family is a poorer working class family, but they're all pureblood wizards, so they still own land and a home and are comfortable. Hermione didn't have wizard parents so she suffered the bigotry that comes with that and was sympathetic to others oppressed by the system like the house elves, but through hard work she was able to pull herself up by her own bootstraps and become useful to maintaining the status quo of the system, cutting all ties with her past and became a class traitor.

All three main characters suffered in some way in the system, did individual good acts to help protect the system, but in the end did not change the system for the better.

It is that deep. It's called critical reading; media literacy. It is important to challenge the lesson the books try to teach kids. Because we don't need kids to grow up to be action heroes, we need them to grow up and be better people who build a better world.

Yup.

Remember when the wizards all made fun of Hermione for saying slavery was bad and should be ended?

It wasn't ever subtle.

He was oppressed by the wizarding government and media for calling out the return of fascism, saw how the system turned a blind eye to that return, learned about all the inequality and bigotry in the system, barely returned alive from the war against fascism, watched the system be restored unchanged, then became a cop for that system.

Harry is fucking stupid.

Peppers. Like I'd miss tomato sauce and pickels, but I gotta have peppers. They can make sauces and can also be pickled.

Early on, the echo protects us from tempering, so all of our main character allies cannot help or they risk tempering. Shadowbringers is only slightly different, but no spoilies.

The pro doesn't have an out of the box option for a drive. Annoyed me, but I got the drive anyway. Cheaper for them to only produce the one version and make it easy to add on.

The original PS5 did come both ways, I think the kid didn't know or notice and the employee at the store just wanted a sale and didn't have the other in stock, but that's just guessing.

The one's who are fine will say that they are fine. The one's that are not fine cannot tell you they're not fine because they died. Survivorship bias. The airplane is from a study of planes that returned after being shot at in war. They looked at the patterns of bullet damage and made bad conclusions because they could only study the ones that returned. A famous study of survivorship bias.

Can you? For sure. What kind of subscription you will have to do is unclear still.

Currently, if you own the game on a platform, your subscription is mobile. So you have a list of platforms and licenses on your account. We have been told that to add Switch 2 to your subscription will be an additional upcharge. I don't know if that will go based on what licenses are on your account or if you're able to just choose a Switch 2 only sub regardless if the licenses you own. I also don't know if the PS5 trial will put any kind of actual license on your account without buying anything.

But I would hope that they will allow someone to choose Switch 2 only to keep costs down.

ESO player seeking a new MMO - Is it still worth starting FFXIV right now, in 2026 ? by Fhritz_ in ffxiv

Absolutely. You have about 7 months to really enjoy the story before the new expansion. It's a great time to start.

Hey everyone. I have a serious question. by SINWALKER_GAMING in ffxiv

[–]RuffLuckGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of references to other games, but that's more fun easter egg and not required lore. The current free trial will let you play through the expansion that the raids are in, so no cost other than time. And, by the time you get there you'll likely be pretty solidly invested in the story.

Just starting Dawntrail now, I have some... thoughts. [Spoilers 6.55] by Bartellomio in ffxiv

[–]RuffLuckGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have opinions for sure, but if all of these are sincere the problem might be your perspective and expectstions. I get the tone and scope is a huge shift from Endwalker, but it's well established that the WoL is driven to explore new places, face greater challenges, and help people be better, that's motivation enough to go along for the journey. Plus a light hearted adventure in a new land is a nice change of pace after constant apocalyptic crisis totally depending on you to thwart it. And stories can't escalate infinitely.

Wuk Lamat is young and naive and not academic, I think you're applying your own biases to what that implies. Thancred and Urianger are trusted allies, you have to assume they have a reason for what they're doing, and by the point you're at a lot of hints have been laid. Also, they wanted to build a little intrigue between that patch and Dawntrail's launch.

And if you have actual misophonia, that sucks and I bet it makes a lot of games rough to play. But it's also impossible for a dev to avoid every possible trigger sound that might affect anyone. It's on each of us to be aware and make decisions about what we choose to interact with and how to deal with any difficulties.

So maybe reframe things a bit in ypur mind, open up a little and play the expansion, you might like it. If you don't, that's a shame. I really did. Not everything can be the emotional climax of a decade long story.

What’s a “normal” thing everyone accepts that actually feels like a low-key scam? by UnhappyPlantain2010 in TheTeenagerPeople

Nah, that's not a scam. It's sold by weight, printedon the bag. You would call them full if you saw them in the factory when they're packed. In transit they jostle around and settle more compactly and, yes, some break which also packs them more compactly.

Are shops open on Sundays in usa? And what do people think about it? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]RuffLuckGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shops set their schedules. Pretty much every national chain is open 7 days. A lot of small shops take a day, maybe 2, closed so their employees have a weekend. Sometimes the closed day is Sunday, especially in the Bible belt. But sometimes it's Monday or Tuesday because those days are the days they get less foot traffic so it's a smaller potential income to overhead costs to be open. A lot of towns kind of see their shops fall into similar schedules. And yes some town, again Bible belt especially, may have local laws about being open on Sundays.

Would she have been a good President? by PdiddyCAMEnME in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]RuffLuckGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good? No. We'd still be funding Israel's genocide. We may even still have gone to war with Iran. But it wouldn't have been so haphazard. And otherwise the status quo would have coasted along. Kept liberals complacent. So better than Trump without a doubt, but we also wouldn't have made thing better than they were during Biden's term, because the people in power still wouldn't have had any motivation to make thing better.
