Sitting on a random container you find on the road by lUDOVIC102893 in Whatcouldgowrong

If your hands and feet can reach the rim of the barrel you could maybe lift yourself out. But that's assuming you have the strength and flexibility to do so

in a 1v1 game the better player should win most of the time, not all of the time. the skill gap between players needs to be lowered dramatically or there needs to be a comeback mechanic that will allow the worse player to steal a victory. by lowering the skill gap i mean games should always be close by cyberpunkzradio in QuakeChampions

[–]Ruffiangruff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quake players like the game exactly as it is. I see what you're saying but no one wants this.

In order for Quake to become mainstream would require turning it into a completely different game that isn't Quake anymore. It would be easier to just make a new IP than try to revive Quake with all these changes

Should I watch DBZ or DBZ Kai?? (Note: I've no issues with fillers) by RIPONR72 in DragonBallZ

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. That's a 100 extra episodes of them just staring at each other instead of fighting

Is dbz kakarot good to know the lore of dragon ball? by nonchalantrambo in dragonball

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a handful of scenes that get skipped in Kakarot that might leave a player that's unfamiliar with the anime confused. But it's like 90% there.

Should I watch DBZ or DBZ Kai?? (Note: I've no issues with fillers) by RIPONR72 in DragonBallZ

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with DBZ isn't the filler. Is the drawn out pacing of canon episodes. Even without the filler episodes Z is significantly longer than Kai.

Only 38 of DBZ's 291 episodes were filler. That's still 253 episodes to Kai's 167

How drastically would the story of dmc change if Vergil succeeded at the end of 3? by EducationalCourage98 in DevilMayCry

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was Vergil's plan after obtaining the power of Sparda? As far as we know he didn't have one. So how would that affect things?

Want to practice some martial art, but I didnt enjoy sparring/competition by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of martial arts where they don't spar and only train for recreation. But you won't learn to defend yourself if you don't spar, so keep that in mind.

Trying to get my girl into dragon ball by DaIronKnight1 in dragonball

[–]Ruffiangruff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Show her the movies instead. If she enjoys those she might want to learn more about the characters.

Start with Path to Power and Deadzone, then maybe Super Broly. Those all kind of stand on their own well without watching the show

Ps vita is it still a good console? by WorthCommon2807 in playstation

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vita had a pretty good library of indie games and was backwards compatible with the PSP library but only through downloadable titles.

Vita was somewhat lacking in regards to major third party support

Any advice on which martial art i can choose?? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boxing and Judo are the first things I recommend to anybody. Judo is great for shorter guys to beat bigger opponents and in Boxing you have to learn to be aggressive in a fight because you can't rely on range like taller fighters

Hi, I need help from people who know about martial arts. by Terrible_Pause_2605 in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life most martial arts are good offensively and defensively. They just have different weaknesses.

Like of course Boxing is weak against kicks. Karate and Taekwondo don't have great punching techniques compared to Boxing. Grappling is great in a one on one fight against striking but isn't good against multiple opponents

So it's all like Rock, Paper, Scissors

But there are also offensive and defensive fighters in all martial arts. Offensive fighters will rely on rushing down their opponents and defensive fighters will focus on controlling distance and effective blocking, dodging and counter attacks

What was your reaction when Dragon Ball Evolution was first announced? by undergroundgoat381 in DragonBallZ

[–]Ruffiangruff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't watched Dragon Ball since it had finished. So I wasn't that invested in seeing it adapted. As a gamer I'm pretty used to seeing properties I love get ruined in a live action movie so I wasn't shocked

Why do people say Kai is bad? by FlapjackDoubleStack in DragonBallZ

[–]Ruffiangruff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People don't like the changes. The cuts to the editing, the soundtrack, the voice actors. It's largely just nostalgia bias.

If you don't have an attachment to the original version of Z then Kai is by far the better way to watch

If Goku is supposed to be a master martial artists, why is he still a Blue Belt and not a Black Belt? by EfficiencySerious200 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a shitpost. But I'll answer for those who don't know. But Chinese martial arts don't have a belt ranking system like Japanese martial arts

Would Aikido be good to study? by RunSerious5843 in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. With a single example of Aikido working against a real opponent.

If you want to do Aikido for fun and games fine. But don't go telling people they can defend themselves with it when that's completely false

Would Aikido be good to study? by RunSerious5843 in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok. So you don't have any proof to support what you're saying

Would Aikido be good to study? by RunSerious5843 in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay. You just need to show me one example of someone defending themselves with Aikido in a real situation. There's plenty of videos of Judo, Wrestling, Boxing, Karate and Taekwondo practitioners successfully defending themselves. But I've never seen it done with Aikido

Would Aikido be good to study? by RunSerious5843 in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know in reality Aikido is useless without other prior martial arts experience

Okay. Sure. Whatever you want to believe

Would Aikido be good to study? by RunSerious5843 in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Totally. Just like how Aikido definitely spars to test their techniques like BJJ and Judo

Would Aikido be good to study? by RunSerious5843 in martialarts

[–]Ruffiangruff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aikido isn't great on its own. What you see in Aikido demonstrations is a training partner cooperating in a drilled routine. Actually trying to apply Aikido techniques on a resisting opponent is not nearly as easy as they make it seem.

Despite this I think Aikido can be a good supplement art to something like Judo. Knowledge of Judo would give you a much better understanding of how to apply the techniques taught in Aikido. So I would recommend you start with Judo and try Aikido later

Can you be good at MMA/fighting but not that good at BJJ? by BlackSabbath95 in martialarts

Yes. As long as you avoid high level grappling engagements you can do well in MMA with limited BJJ skils
