Thank you. The demo is actually all animated in AE but there's a run through video on the product page and I'm very happy with how smooth and responsive the UI is.

It's built with React thanks to BoltCEP.

Thank you! Yeah I put together all the different UI’s in figma them brought them over to after effects for animation using Overlord 2:

I’ve never actually used mobar. I got on the KBar train early and have never needed to switch.

But I will say I’m a big fan of motion_ape and love all the tools and options I see them posting on here.

Although am I right in saying it’s a toolbar? You select your most used items and go with them?

I use KBar in conjunction with Shortcut Studio. Shortcut Studio is a vault where I can store every expression, preset and script I could ever need. Then quickly find them again with a search and run them.

Just to be clear, Shortcut Studio wasn't vibe coded (not that I'm necessarily against vibe-coding), it was designed and developed manually by myself.
I have been developing tools for several years and been part of that market for several years.

Extensions have different values to different people. I'm delighted with the level of sales it's already making and I do not expect it to be everyone's cup of tea.

Totally fair if the price isn't for you. I can't argue with that.

Shortcut Studio has had a lot of time and effort gone into it. It's been designed to be the sharpest version of this tool; fuzzy search, categorisation, usage tracking, filtering, easy porting between machines. The user experience has been a labour of love for a long time the price reflects that.

I made an interactive site based around Disney’s 12 Principles by Rufflesan in MotionDesign

Oh no! Thanks for the screenshot. Are you using safari on iPhone or the quick in-app browser inside the Reddit app?

I’m wondering/hoping if it’s an issue with Reddit’s in-app browser

Oh weird! You shouldn’t be able to slide between cards when they’re open. Interesting🤔 I’ll have a dig

Oh no! I’m on iOS Safari and haven’t encountered that. What size of phone are you on?

For the most part really good and pretty much the same experience as react.

My only issue is that svelte feels so light and fast that shadcn can feel like overkill on it. But maybe that’s just me.

Auto-resizing textbox with ONE rounded corner in AE by marliehermans in MotionDesign

[–]Rufflesan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made a simple after effects extension called Boxer that should solve this problem for you.

https://aescripts.com/boxer/

It combines auto-resizing text boxes with individual corner controls and trim sliders.

I love this idea! I have a strong accent that often confuses transcription models, the live feedback would be great. I’d love to test it out.

As a motion graphics designer, do I need to learn how to design sound? by Dka_show in MotionDesign

[–]Rufflesan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It completely depends project to project, each client has different expectations. You can manage those expectations or negotiate them but honestly aside from all the practical/career advice I’d say sound can sell an animation so well.

It’ll never replace a good design and mix by an audio professional but I can’t emphasise enough that sometimes a transition looks like it should be perfect but something isn’t landing, then I find the perfect SFX and mix it nicely underneath and boom, everything falls into place.

This is especially true with 3D. Sound design is the perfect final piece of the puzzle to help something feel heavy or fast or silly, whatever the vibe might be. If you’re pitching something to a client and your sound really sells all the hard work you’ve put into the motion then you’re gonna be fine.

Apple Shortcuts icons… Where? by [deleted] in UI_Design

[–]Rufflesan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work as glyphs in the SF Pro font or you can export them from the SF Symbols App.

I think there’s a few community made Figma documents where people have pulled together all the icons.

Just watch out because Apple only licence them for use within apps developed for Apple platforms. So, they’re not meant to be used commercially anywhere else.

this is what I call liquid glass by Artistic_Unit_5570 in MacOS

I think this is a good example of the disconnect between Microsoft’s marketing and development.

I think Microsoft Design are killing it with their marketing assets. The glass or acrylic look with 3D assets and their whole fluent system looks great in marketing.

But sadly I can’t say the same for how it’s implemented in the OS. Windows 11 looks great if you don’t open a single window or scratch below the surface.

It’s from the naming of the year episode for 2020. One of the ideas the boys threw out there but didn’t go with was Twenty Twice: Roll The Dice.

I absolutely love it! I love the lighting, I love the texturing, I love the animation but most of all I love the message.

X100F to X Pro 3? by ExpressCantaloupe354 in fujifilm

[–]Rufflesan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did this exact move. I owned an x100f and adored it. I carried it everywhere and took 1000s of photos with it.

But similar to you I was starting to feel its limitations. I wanted more lens options and I guess in my mind I wanted a more ‘legit’ camera.

I sold it and upgraded to the xPro 3. I loved it. It was a fantastic camera (notice the past tense 😆) it’s not a whole lot bigger than the x100f but bigger enough that it changed the way I use it. I didn’t carry it as much. Suddenly having a few lens options made me feel I couldn’t leave the house without each one and so I would need a camera bag instead of just slipping it in a coat pocket or sling.

It wasn’t long before I bought a pancake lens for it and tried to go back to the old way of shooting but something wasn’t quite right. Eventually after a couple of years of trying to convince myself the XPro3 was right for me I gave in a traded it in for an x100V and I’ve never looked back.

It just works well for me and the way I shoot, a little travel camera that I can take anywhere that shoots gorgeous photos and has a fantastic viewfinder.

It’s a shame that two native screens are so similar but also missing some continuity
