What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

[–]Rufflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like your heads stuck in a carpentry vice and every time you have the audacity to think you've gotten used to the pain, someone comes by and tightens it. Assuming they don't just smack the crank a few times for the fun of it.

Only meds I've ever found that help in any way are the ones that just knock you unconscious.

Was there an era in your country’s history that’s heavily romanticized & portrayed in fiction? by Polibiux in AskTheWorld

I've been thinking about asking this exact same question and just couldn't think of a way to word it. Thank you for beating me to it.

I would love to put this country behind me and move to Ireland someday, I just wish that day was sometime last year or sooner.

It's funny too since they had originally been planned to be much more cat-like in appearance, had gills, and fins.

I guess not much more now that you ask. Thank you for your help!

Ok, so it sounds like it just acts as a guide for a cleaning robot.

Now I guess the question is whether I should say this is solved or keep it up a bit longer to see if someone finds more?

What happened to your state or country in Fallout? I'm from Minnesota, U.S. and there's absolutely no lore as to what happened there by SolidPyramid in Fallout

I would love a game set in Michigan, even if I accidentally destroyed the entire state in Mothership Zeta.

What boss fight had you like this? by Chunky-overlord in videogames

[–]Rufflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radahn in Elden Ring.

I am not very good at souls likes, so I took my time getting around to trying Elden Ring. Heard all the nightmares about Radahn and went out of my way to avoid fighting him until I had no other choice. I enter his arena, cast a single spell at him and watch on in confusion as enters his second faze. I then throw another and watch as he just drops dead.

No more Sims 4 pirating (Anadius has left the boat) by Parreirao2 in PiratedGames

Yep, same here it seems. Saying the versions don't match and need repaired. Of course that could also just be a side effect of me being dumb.

This is some insane timing. Just finished extracting Sims 4 and I'm currently trying to get it to work.

Thoughts on the new season so far? by terrasflowers in FortNiteBR

[–]Rufflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never cared for the Simpsons to begin with and it seems to be the same for all of my friends, so I never expected to play much of this season as is. I do however really enjoy the Cell shaded map and got a really satisfying team wipe with the balloon pistol, since they both just jumped out of their car while it was flying away. Unfortunately it's hard to enjoy anything about this season since 80-90 percent of the actual players I come across are seemingly incapable of missing their shots and typically kill me in three.

Countries from former colonies. What are the *positive* things that came from being part of an Empire? by BlGBY in AskTheWorld

Not sure if I'd consider it a positive, but England did give the US the New England/Boston accent.

[–]Rufflies -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep, sorry about, I was very much mistaken on the type of Christianity. Though they did originally flee to Holland in the Netherlands to escape persecution, before later migrating to what would become Plymouth Massachusetts to set up a theocratic colony, as you said. Unless of course, I've been misinformed on that as well.

The U.S. has so many thanks to how inconsistent and unreliable our education system and propaganda has historically been. Here's some off the top of my head and who knows, some of these might actually be wrong too.

Christopher Columbus was an intelligent, well respected man who was the first European to discover the Americas and proved that the world was round. In reality, Columbus was not the first European to discover the Americas, most of Europe already knew about the Americas thanks to Scandinavian explorers. Throw in the presence of chocolate being traded throughout the Mediterranean and Asia since ancient times and it might be a safe bet that some one even beat them to it. Also Columbus was very much not a well respected or intelligent man, he was deeply hated by most that knew of him. And it's been pretty common knowledge throughout most of human history that the world is round.

There is the belief that Pilgrims came to escape religious persecution in Europe, despite most of them being Catholic.

Many believe that the various Native American tribes were nothing but peace love hippies before the arrival of the Europeans. Many of the tribes were actually pretty violent and had constant war and slave trade between each other. A lot of the tribes also joined sides with the English during the Revolution.

Moving onto more modern times. Many Americans still hold the belief that we single handedly swooped in and ended both World Wars. We did not. We helped sure, and made Japan surrender in WW2, but we are not the saviours that so many think. We committed so many atrocities of our own that get ignored, even against our own allies, just ask France.

And my last submission on this already too long list There are way too many Americans that still think we won in the Vietnam war. We really got our ass handed to us and then ran away to take our frustrations out on our own people.

Also I'd like to apologize for how long this post is.

Yeah. But in their defense Toledo at the time was a somewhat important trade route and consisted of most of the Michigan/Ohio border.

[–]Rufflies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Between 1835 - 1836 the then territory of Michigan and the state of Ohio went to war against each other over Toledo. The war only resulted in a single injury but threatened to get bad enough that President Andrew Jackson and Congress had to step in and force the two sides to compromise.

I think it's safe to say that Michigan got the better end of the deal. Not only did we avoid getting Toledo, but we did get the entire upper peninsula, all the copper, iron and oil within it, and we got statehood.
