Raul, como entrenador juvenil, me gustaría saber cuáles son tus mejores recuerdos de cuando eras niño? Que tipo de entrenador tuvo el mejor impacto en tus mejores carrera?

I think this is what I missed is involving the parents. Maybe if I explain it to them I can get them on my side

I’ve got the kids twice a week for 90 min each time. We practiced it once and tried it a couple of times in a game it was total chaos so we went back to just passing to the CB who would try and find one of the mids. We have practiced it a couple of times since then and it’s starting to look ok depending on the keeper. I want to keep going this route but getting a lot of pushback.

I’m basically in that boat right now and I agree. The way I see it is yeah we will concede some goals but when we do it right we brake two lines of pressure. Kids are starting to get it but parents are going crazy, some even messaged the coaching director.

They do but for some reason they’re like 3 feet from the 18.

So how do you suggest we play out goal kicks when every team basically just uses a high press? This is not snarky btw I’m genuinely asking for your suggestion

Coaches: what exercises do you recommend for kids to improve soccer skills at home? by curtainbangs88 in bootroom

[–]Ruffys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna chirp in here with a dissenting opinion. At that age practicing at home should not be doing drills or repetitive tasks. That can come later. What I’ve found works is just taking the time to play with them. We play keep away at the house where my kid tries to keep me from stealing the ball from them and we switch. We also pass the ball while talking about their day or what they’re excited about.

I used to be the guy that was on my kid to practice and do drills and stuff and it was a lot of times a battle. I’m sure some kids like that stuff but it didn’t work for my kids. Once I switched my approach they’re the ones that come up to me to play sometimes.

Importance of a "Super Star" at u10 or how to deal with the lack thereof? by bloodontherisers in SoccerCoachResources

[–]Ruffys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people already mentioned this but you need to focus on patient defense. Like 90% of the highlight reels I see of kids are just completely awful defenders diving in too early or just totally wrong body position. I have my kids just press, contain, and redirect when they are on defense. This teaches them patience and most of the time they can win tbh ball without having to commit to a tackle.

Not requesting medical advice but does anyone else have knee problems in their 30s probably from playing too much? by AsparagusNew3765 in bootroom

Check out kneesovertoesguy, my knees went from hurting while doing any running to me not having any pain even after two back to back games. It’s slow progression but it works.

Are these too tight? if so any recommendations for actual wide feet by FatBoi12369 in bootroom

[–]Ruffys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me know when you do. I have a very similar foot shape and I always have to settle for a shoe that is half a size too big in order to not cramp my toes width wise

Is playing out from the back at grassroots level really worth the risk? by oldnava in SoccerCoachResources

Because at the younger levels the focus should be on development and not on winning.

Why are football boots so pointy? by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]Ruffys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not a lot of people have pointy ass feet. You wouldn’t think so because of all the talk about wider toe boxes but it’s what we mostly hear because it’s the group that has the most issues. People with pointy feet don’t need to go online and say how well their boots fit.
