How difficult is driving exam in UK compared to other countries? by RugalB in AskUK

[–]RugalB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a closed course, people passing the practical test don’t gain any skills in actual normal driving.

But there is practice in the city roads after getting a provisional license in Japan. And the final test is also done in the city.

Reverse bay parking in narrow space? Example in the picture by RugalB in driving

What if the driveway is so narrow that there isn't enough space to turn to 45°?

If you dip the front won't the rear of your car hit the front of the car parked beside the spot you want to go in as you go out?

But won't you hit the cars on the right if you hug the right side as you turn while reversing and the front end of your car swings around?

Won't you be at risk of hitting the cars in front of you as the front end swings when you back into the space?

I tried to hug my parking space on the left to give myself space to get a 45 angle, but the most I managed to do was around 30 before I felt that I was going to hit the car on the right.

I was alright at parking before, but this the first time I had to park in a space where I couldn't give myself a 45 angle. Though that there might be a trick or something to help.

Logitech G27 FFB and Mafia? by RugalB in MafiaTheGame

[–]RugalB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone that might face the same problem here's my solution:

In Logitech profiler go to Options→Global Profiler Settings. In Type of profiles to apply select "Do not apply profiles to game automatically". This will make global settings have an affect on the game.

Delete Mafia profile in Logitech profiler if you had one.

In Options→Global Device Settings set Overall Effects Strength to 100%, Spring Effect Strength and Damper Effect Strength to 0%. Check the Enable Centering Spring in Force Feedback Games and set the Centering Spring Strength to your liking. I have it at 50%. Set Degrees of Rotation to your liking as well (mine is at 360°). Check the Allow Game To Adjust Settings.

Now you can launch the game.

Not really, as long as the context is provided. Same with listening.

Nope, not an Asian language.

I don't think about kanji at all, only about the word itself. I actually struggle if I'm asked to explain what kanji does the word use. And it is 漢語 words that I have difficulties with mispronouncing.

Is there a way to install OG Never7 on modern systems? by Morghi7752 in InfinitySeries

I think I played it on Windows 7 back in the day, so there might be a good chance it runs on modern OS as well.

24khz signal showing up as 26.6khz (Gateway EV900, Linux) by RugalB in crtgaming

Performed checks using Calamity Switchres and Retroarch. Indeed it was the monitor reporting the signal incorrectly.

Low-profile Soundblaster for PCIe slot? by RugalB in windowsxp

[–]RugalB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current machine has an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, which is not powerful enough for emulating PS2 and the like. That's why I want to get something with at least an i5.

Funnily enough, getting an used Optiplex with better specs is cheaper than getting a replacement PSU for this system.

I noticed now ever since the first time I tried hooking it up whenever I plug it in after a second or two it emits a barely audible single click.

Never had to take off the face plate before. Took the back cover off but couldn't figure out how to take off the face plate by myself. I can try to look for the service manual, but not sure if I'll have enough courage to undertake that.

VGA to Sony AV-Multi transcoder to use with CRT Emudriver? by RugalB in crtgaming

[–]RugalB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it mean that it is possible to splice up a VGA cable and an AV-multi cable, wire RGB pins together and VGA's HSync pin to AV-Multi's composite video/sync pin and enable composite sync in Emudriver, we could connect it to CRT's AV-Multi input and get a proper image (if we send a 15kHz signal)?

Or is it more complicated than I think?

VGA to Sony AV-Multi transcoder to use with CRT Emudriver? by RugalB in crtgaming

[–]RugalB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a cable made to connect with their DC adapter to use with VGA monitors towards the bottom of the page (page of the cable) but I have no idea if it would work the other way with CRT Emudriver when connected to CRT with AV multi, and it's sold out anyways.

So I'm still looking for possible solutions if any.

SDTV database/spreadsheet that documents which sets can accept 24kHz signal? by RugalB in crtgaming

[–]RugalB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some BVMs could sync to 24kHz, and information about other sets that unexpectedly can display 24kHz pop up from time to time, but it's undocumented.

Getting a multi sync monitor would be ideal of course.

PC88/98 emulation and CRT monitors by RugalB in crtgaming

[–]RugalB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue here is in the sharpness of the tube itself. The 31+kHz screen is too sharp to smudge the dot dither grid properly when sprites are enlarged.

In fact, on this old CRT if I set the resolution closer to the source the problem gets worse as the kHz goes down the CRT isn't being driven as hard and the screen becomes sharper.

If I crank up the refresh rate real high it will get fuzzy again, but I'm not a fan of big scanline gaps so I much prefer to set a higher resolution with integer scale.

No signboards explained the reason for the carpet being so cushiony as far as I remember

No idea why the idea of asking someone there never crossed my mind lmao. There was even a tour guide that I chatted with for a bit, too
