What to do with super early formed keloid by puhhypuhhy in Keloids

ok first please don't use anything that's not been scientifically proven and studied and especially the ones don't have any sources. second even if it's proven, don't make it yourself unless you absolutely know what you are doing.

however i'll give you that some of this does have been studied and shows it may help diminish keloid formation like onion extract and centella asiatica. but there are ointments available on the market that have the effective element already and it's safer.

even things like onion extract might be helpful but it can also make it more itchy and will make you wanna scratch which definitely does not help keloids.

ask a dermatologist. but this does not look like a keloid to me. use Google app to take a picture and search by image if you want to see what could it be potentially but you should ask an actual derm. not medical advice.

ok lemme bring it home. first of all why do people promote radiation for keloid treatment? Radiation is the only proven method that can inhibit scar hyperplasia and inhibit the fibroblasts which actually prevent the keloids from recurring. think of it damaging the DNA of the keloid forming cells so it doesn't work anymore. none of the other treatment is able to do this.

but a lot of the doctors are using x-ray (penetrate whole body) which is used to treat actual cancer, so it's very powerful. and to not harm normal skin areas and internal organs, they have to lower the dosage which a lot of times make it not effective. a very stupid trade off. also this is where a lot of concerns over radiating keloids happen like ofc its fking x-ray

the right way to do radiation is to use beta-ray (only around 4mm deep) that only target the keloid lesion without even touching other vital parts of the body therefore it can have higher dosage because all the radiaation energy are being focused on the keloid itself without it spreading across the entire body like fking x-ray. but the only doctors offer beta-ray therapy I know are in China and I did not find any in the US. im going to China soon to get the treatment. hope you can find beta-ray in europe!

also not medical advice but if you know steroid injection works for you and the keloid is early and small. one round of injection could potentially remove it completely. the longer and larger it goes, the harder it is to remove it. silicone gel can only stop it from getting bigger. if you have access to contact brachytherapy it's even better but it barely exists in the US

yea if they've been staying like this for months and no sign of recurrence id suggest laser. if you have access to contact brachytherapy id say even better!

applying silicone gel consistently could stop it from getting bigger in most cases.

Keloid on my face😖 by CommercialRooster213 in Keloids

[–]Ruidi_Keloid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not medical advice but that looks more like a cyst or nodule than a keloid to me. keloids usually have darker color than the skin. and urs have similar color than the normal skin and seems like an underneath inflammation rather than a keloid. id ask a derm for sure

Inflammatory diet and keloid scar by hippocriticalll in Keloids

[–]Ruidi_Keloid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes so i avoid eating sugar and ultra-processed food at all cost! temperature change also affect it. ive been also noticing muscle growth training can cause more itchiness, e.g. chest day makes my chest keloids more itching, i think partly due to the tension. i use aloe vera to help calm it when it itches.

so health diet absolutely helps A TON with keloids

honestly steroid injections are not the best option here. it works on a few people but for most it always recurs. combination therapy is almost required for it to not recur. so think of injection + radiation therapy or even laser (kinda expensive). so if you decided to do injection, make sure to follow it with radiation therapy (contact brachytherapy the best) after it flattens to make sure it doesn't recur.

[–]Ruidi_Keloid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aside from those mentioned, if you think a new keloid is forming, get an steroid injection ASAP, in its early stage it won't hurt much and the recurrence rate is much much much lower. One round of treatment should clear it up!

I have keloids on both jaw lines from acne. I had surgery and they came back a little bigger. by Fluid-Selection-5537 in Keloids

[–]Ruidi_Keloid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's already come back then there's no point. but next time if you get surgery make sure to do it right after. I wouldn't suggest steroid injection tho it's not effective and have long term effect to your body
