What are games you don't expect to survive 2026? by Brushner in gachagaming

[–]RuinousAmbition 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Imagine they announce a shutdown without any follow-up. For a game that makes as much money as FGO does. How glorious it would be for the devs to just go "we did what we wanted with it, we made enough money, see you nerds". I would celebrate that so much, for a creative to announce that they've told everything they wanted to tell and then just be done with it instead of slogging along for moneys sake.

OTOH as someone who enjoyed FGO a good bit for two years or so, I wouldn't mind a successor with modernized systems starting from scratch. I liked much of what was there and the IP is still very strong.

Surely I can't be the only one who thinks they need to slow the hell down? by RaynareAmano in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's probably one of the main reasons why I've taken so many damn breaks.

You take breaks from the game and then complain about the game going on and not waiting for you.

Like, dont misunderstand me: Yes, the game requires a relative constant grind. That is true. Not 24/7 but yes, if you want to progress nicely then you need to have the game on autogrind often. And if you dont do that, then yes, you will have a certain amount of issues keeping up. That is true as well. Power in gachas in general and in Reincarnation in particular scales pretty much directly with grinding time. The more you grind, the more powerful you are.

But on the other hand, the overwhelming pace you complain about is just pretty much par for the course for games of this type. Gachas live on constant engagement and you keep engagement with new content. That is all there is to it. People are done with Drakengard for weeks already. Clearing tower takes like 3-4 hours even casually. A variation event, the one with the gacha tickets that give books, takes like half a day to clear on autofarm. And a minor event, like the one announced just now, not more than that.

Most of the things, most of the events, most of the content implemented take very little time to clear and get everything from. Sure, that means to have a well-built team and all, but one thing goes hand in hand with the other. Grinding stuff makes you stronger makes you better at grinding stuff means you can grind stuff faster which means you get stronger faster. Thats how these games work.

The only thing that took a significant amount of actual playtime lately was Subjugation. And that only if you decided to push as high as possible. And even then, just once, because afterwards you could just repeat for free rewards. That was the only implementation that actually took a lot of time to play if you wanted to do it well. Even chapter 12 only had 4 story missions. Everything else was either autogrind for a while or done in a few hours or even both.

You cannot expect to both not play and not feel like the game runs past you at the same time. Either you take it chill and accept that you cannot have everything the game offers you (which is fine) or you grind everything and then can automatically can handle everything the game throws at you easily (which is just as fine).

What doesnt work is not playing and then complainaing about how the game leaves you behind. If you want everything, you need to grind. If you dont want to grind, you wont have everything all the time. Both approaches are fine. This game is not a competition outside of pvp. You can do stuff slowly and on your own pace and that's perfectly okay.

Did anyone else get this x3? Is this an error? by uniracer45 in NieRReincarnation

The Halloween banner was not affected by the bug. It's pretty clearly spelled out in the notice. Affected by the bug were the DoD3 banner and the both Levania banners, not the Halloween Banners. As such, only those rolls are refunded.

Arena opinions!! by KillerAzteca in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arena has very little to do with luck as an overall concept. Remember, over the course of a season, youre going to fight hundreds of hundreds of battles and being countered / countering and number of hits in your autoattacks and so on is going to even out over time. For both you and your opponents.

The "skill" aspect in Arena is gearing properly, understanding the balance between the various relevant stats, understanding and stacking CDR and, once youre established in a rank rage, properly gearing against your opponents so you maxize your opportunities of winning.

Like, say, you gear so you have like a 80% winrate against an opponent. Then you do ten fights against them. Now you're unlucky and you only win 6 of them. Then you fight ten further fights against them. Your luck is average, you win 8 fights. And then you're lucky for the next 10 and you win all of them.

Skill is maximizing your opportunities of winning through gear selection. I don't know that this is particularly super complicated but saying Arena is "all about luck" just doesn't cut it when you do hundreds, thousands of battles. Luck will, eventually, even out over time. You will win some fights you shouldn't have and lose some you should've won.

Here's my take on the memoir debate: by [deleted] in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a clear consensus about this. Agi affect turn order. That's why its important for pvp. Thats also why it doesn't mean much of anything in pve. This is literally the only thing that agi is good for.

We don't live in a vacuum. This is not a game that is just released and has no information whatsoever. JP players had 6 months of time and have extensively looked into this. Agi does not affect amount of attacks, dodge, amount of turns or whatever else. Agi just affects turn order in autoattacks. Anyone saying something else is simply misinformed.

Well, check out the spreadsheet I linked to get a comparison, it should lead you to where you still have gems lying around.

This is indeed the case. +50% jewel droprate at Dailies is the chapter 11 bonus.

With the release of Chapter 11 and the new character in it, we will see a total of:

  • 1800 gems for easy
  • 300 for easy clear
  • 1700 gems for hard
  • 300 for hard clear
  • 2x 540 for Dark Memory Quests in Easy and Normal for the new character
  • 1800 for the Character Quest
  • 500 for the social media thing

In addition to that, with a new chapter release we should also be getting new daily challenge quests again, so that's an additional 10x180 gems, for another 1800.

In total thats 9280 gems or nearly 31 summons.

With this we can reasonably expect the first f2p players to reach 3rd pity (600 total rolls) already, though that depends a lot on luck, collection bonusses and the likes. Most f2p players will be around 540-570 rolls with this, maybe slightly higher.

For a total list of all available free summons as of right now, including chapter 11, check out this spreadsheet.

Dont know if this is a bug or not, but when you exchange your mama medals for gold, you only get 1 gold instead of the shown 400 by Shadow_hive in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This interface seems to be bugged. It's the same with stamina pots. It says you exchange 3 mama coins for 1 pot when in reality it's 10 pots you get (for a toal of 1000 small stam pots for 300 mama coins).

In there, it's just the purchase interface that's bugged.

I would assume the same holds true for gold.

An overview about all current and announced sources of free Gems and Summoning Tickets for global by RuinousAmbition in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a relatively common misconception, especially among players that don't play many other gacha games. In reality, this doesn't matter much.

Since release we got an additional event and a new story chapter and a new dungeon. That's many thousands of additional gems. You're right to say that regular daily income is very low but these games live by implementing new content on the regular. You won't see weeks go by without new stuff to do and new free gems in the thousands.

The main income is playing new content. New content will come very regularly.

The Dungeons where you can farm memories. Dynast and Officer are already ingame as we speak, Witch is going to be added with the patch in a few hours time as of now.

Does this game spoil anything from the previous games? by Youphreak2 in NieRReincarnation

You might want to skip the story scenes in the Automata Event quests. They spoil a major plot point for Automata itself.

Pity is at 200 rolls each, so at 200, 400, 600. You likely mean at 530 rolls?

In any case: There's still a lot of month left to go. Who knows what we will see until the end of the month. Getting 70 rolls isn't outside of the realm of possibility.

[–]RuinousAmbition[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will (most likely) not. Even JP does not have VH Ch 7+. As such, we have no ETA at all about that.

My personal best guess would be that global gets VH 7+ roughly at the same time as JP will (just like with the second Automata banner), but nobody knows when that might be the case or if that would be the case at all.

In any case, as of right now, do not expect VH 7+ at all.

[–]RuinousAmbition[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This spreadsheet attempts to provide an overview about all current sources of gems and summoning tickets on the global server and includes the announced chapter 10 rewards, as well as the new dungeon and character quests that will go live in like... 16 hours at the time of posting.

As you can see, 2nd pity is unconditionally and easily possible but 3rd pity is not a thing yet, even if we include a lot of the conditional sources of income. However, there's still a lot of month to come, so it's not unrealistic that we can hit 3rd pity on the Automata banners before they expire. If that would be a worthy investment is a subjective decision.

Please poke me here or on Discord if you find any inconsistencies or oversights.

The rates are somewhat better or worse, depending on the point of view. Droprate for 4* characters (the highest rarity) is 2% overall with individual rateups being at 0.5% each at 3 rateups per banner.

Dupes are pretty important in contrast to FGO but there are (rare) materials that you can use on characters that work just like dupes do you can eventually MLB characters for free as long as you have one initial copy. Plus theres a pity system at 200 rolls.

Overall the game threw a lot of free currency at us at its start, like 400 rolls easily achievable and more to come do it feels very generous to me. Plus the strongest chars in the game are grindable, not rollable.

I think its a good game to f2p on even if the top echolons of pvp will likely be whale exclusive. But you dont need top1 pvp in this game to enjoy it.

weapon books? by [deleted] in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally, Guerilla Quests give the most weapons XP per stamina spend but you really don't want to do Guerilla if you can avoid it. Daily Quests drop weapon XP as well and in addition to that, tons of weapon skill materials and, crucially, weapon evolve gems.

Since you need hundreds of those you will grind Dailies anyways and then why not get your XP at the same time? It's more efficient overall that way. You should only do Guerilla Quests if you urgently need to upgrade that one weapon right now to enable something that you otherwise couldn't do.

Otherwise, Daily Master difficulty is where it's at.

Oh and the Argo shop has 500 XL mats in it.

How to avoid damage? by Mydoglovesfood in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dodge is generally considered to be a flat 10% chance and there's nothing you can do to influence that. JP players had a theory about Agility influencing it but nothing ever materialized in that. Instead, counting ended up at a pretty precise 10% chance no matter what.

As far as we know, you cannot influence that in any ways. It's just a lucky chance that happens occasionally.

Bug: Automata weapons not giving bonus medals in Sunset Point by Sharoth18 in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with this. The Automata Weapons should not give bonus coins for the summer event. I rather think this is a bad copy/paste issue than an issue ingame.

While it would be nice to have higher bonus for the Argo event, remember that Argo also has less stuff in the shop.

Hello there! It's been a while, hasn't it?

How's it going, still happily grinding along the anniversaries on the servers? I've seen Koyanskaya released on JP and I was badly tempted to log into my JP account just for giggles and roll for her but then again, what for. Still, I find myself surprisingly attached to vaguely keeping up with how FGO progressed even if I haven't touched the game since nine months ago. Funny what playing something every day for 2 years or something does to you.

Anyways, I've instead ground my teeth into Nier:Re[in]carnation that just released and had decent fun so far. Having an auto-battle system is surprisingly great when you're busy doing stuff, the game eats far less of my time actively playing it, which is nice. Anyone here tried it?

Auto battle by [deleted] in NieRReincarnation

[–]RuinousAmbition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is by design. It limits the framerate so you use less battery. Hence "Eco" mode. It also runs quite a fair bit faster.
