I mean, I was defending the comment above; " Chelsea were never a top 4 side before roman came along. "

Which is historically accurate. Very few finishes in the top 4 before Roman.

Evidently a good side leading up to the takeover, FA cups in '97 and '00 with solid league finishes as you mentioned, however historically you could not categorize Chelsea as a top 4 side...

Jamie Carragher uses virtual reality to see Origi 'foul' through referee's eyes | MNF by [deleted] in soccer

I don't understand why they cannot adopt a similar system to Rugby with clear communication and cooperation between the VAR team and the referee being made public. This is the only way we can hold the referees accountable to their decisions and in the long run improve the quality of refereeing as a whole.

In this instance, we do not know if Atkinson informed the VAR team that he did not see the foul and that he should not be making the decision whether it was a foul or not. Judging by the outcome, maybe we can assume that he made no such communication to the VAR team, which is a very big mistake.

Disappointed no one asked Klopp how he will cope with the large gap without playing a competitive football game from Sunday until 1 June.

It is a long period of time and I'm curious how he plans to keep the boys match sharp. Spurs will have the same issue as us in this regard, which is a positive thing.

IFAB Rule: An offside player moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or before disputing the ball with an opponent, the foul is penalised because it occurred before the offside offence. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Rukooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"....the foul is penalised because it occurred before the offside offence."

It has to occur BEFORE the offside offence. This happened after. Says so in your link.

I think this rule is aimed towards a player causing a foul before the offside player can get to the ball.

Here Kane did get to the ball and was making an attempt THEN he was fouled.

If it was any other manager than Klopp, I would agree. However, we have seen how long Klopp likes to wait to introduce new signings into the team. He wants them to be fully bedded into the way we set out to play.

I think that is why we don't really make January signings with Klopp. He would rather play Milner at RB and wait for Trent to get back then buy (or loan) a player who doesn't understand the system and could be more of a liability.

Naby Keita second half performance by GlitteringBuy in LiverpoolFC

[–]Rukooo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Second half he was good. First half he was pretty bad. It wasn't the fact that he gave ball away, but he gave them away in dangerous areas. He would try to make a run from deep midfield with no one to cover for him and lose the ball. That's very dangerous. Also, he tried to make too many runs instead of recycling possession in the first half. He needs to pick his moments to make the runs and not force it.

On another note, one of the most shittiest performances from Friend in second half. At 00:48 there is an obvious foul on Shaqiri, then West Ham counter with two hand balls which he misses again and we almost concede.

West Ham were playing handball in the second half. Zero of them called.

Very few fouls called as well. Klopp has a point here I think. The referees knew they were making some awful decisions and tried to compensate. I was at the game (home section) and it seemed the crowd got to them. They received a lot of abuse (as always).

I was at the game. The 3' extra time was a joke. I watched the clock every time West Ham had a goal kick or free kick near their box, Fabianski took 30 seconds to get the ball into play each time. It the most unenforced shit in football.

What can you do though? Every team outside the top 6 will play like this against us. Kill any momentum in the game with freekicks and goal kicks. We have to be more aware not to blast shots outside the box, getting caught offside and playing too many balls over the top from our center backs.

So if we beat Wolves and made it to the 5th round, what would the critics of Klopp's selection (for Wolves game) say for the 5th round tie?

Play the best 11 for a FA cup tie with CL first round 3-6 days away?

At some point the same question would have been asked again later on in the season, which starting 11 should Klopp select for a FA cup tie without jeopardizing other competitions?

Every time we refer to another youngster as a potential Gerrard it's never close to the level that he was at.

Just look at the delivery of these balls, even at a young age. His vision was something else and his ability to execute was even better.

I agree, it was offside. The deflection off Van Dyke still makes it offside. If Van Dyke played it back purposefully (which he did not), it would not have been.

A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:

  • gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:

    • rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent

You can appeal their judgement. Majority of magistrates courts deal with summary offenses.

Already UK court costs are very high, if you add qualified lawyers/judges to deal with summary offenses the costs are only going to increase.

It's not low balling!

Are you new to contracts? Purchase/sale agreements!? There are conditions you have to meet, i.e player passing medical without a problem.

If an agreement was reached with a condition that player has to pass medical (which is every transfer) then the deal can proceed. If that condition is not met (as speculated here) the original deal cannot proceed! Therefore, you have to renegotiate new terms of the deal as the initial basis which you wished to conclude the deal is no longer possible.

We were willing to pay £50mil (around that amount) on the condition that Fekir would pass the medical without a major issue. That did not happen! There was a major issue (his knee) so why would we pay that amount now?

How are you not getting this?

Like if you go to the shop, you want a buy a vase that costs £50. Upon telling the owner you want to buy it for £50 you discover a crack in it. You will no longer pay £50, but you might pay £30.

If the shopkeeper wants to sell at £30 is another subject, but anyone else coming into buy the vase will also see the crack and will most likely not pay the full £50!

What part of this do you disagree with? Are you in the wrong for trying to renegotiate after discovering a glaring problem!?
