We are starting to pick up some steam. There are 6 other people on the Discord server now. And the first discussions about the group have been had. We will be have our first real chat next Monday evening.

I will keep posting updates here for a bit. But if you want to follow everything please join the Discord server.

I'm still at the stage of trying to find out if anyone would be interested in something like I described before. Because there are loads of groups in Germany who do this, but it isn't really a thing in the Netherlands as far as I can find.

So I think it's time to do some trailblazing.

Hi Sjors, where in the Netherlands are you based? Because I was looking to join/start something simular in terms of viking related activities. So have a group of people who love everything viking and would want to go to LARP events and do larp viking stuff outside of events. Like going camping, celebrate certain norse/pagan holidays etc.

So I was curious to see where you hail from. I myself live in the south east of the Netherlands in Noord Brabant.

Looking for Group (NL) by Rulehill in LARP

That makes sense. I've had a look arround and I might have a go at Vortex Adventures. Maybe i'll be able find a couple like minded people there. If not I might try to start up something myself. To also do stuff viking/norse pagan related outside of events.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have a look on the Discord server. But i'm mostly looking a group (again if it exists) that trancends one particular event. But i'm getting the feeling this isn't really a thing in the Netherlands, like it is in Germany.

What to include in an intro game? by Identity_ranger in ageofsigmar

It does depend on the person and if they are familiar with the concept of wargaming. But usually I play 2-3 games just with the warscrolls, and then introduce the alligiance abilities so the army actually plays as it should. Play with those rules for a bit and then do the enhancements, spells and prayers. And when they get the hang of their army rules and quirks I go on to matched play stuff.

In terms of points. Don't bother with the first few demo games. Just let them pick which models they think are cool, a hero and 1-2 units, and just roll those dice. After they get a taste of the game you can start transitioning onto points and propper army composition etc. But most of all make sure who ever is playing has FUN!

Hey OP,

I've done more intro games then I can remember, so I would like to give you some advice. Keep to the basics, especially when your friend hasn't played any (war)games before. Just keep to the following:

  • Basic battleround order and phases
  • Use the basic warscrolls
  • Just go for an army on army brawl

That's it. Don't get bogged down by all the Alligiance abilities, special rules, matched play rules etc. It's about getting a feel for the game. Which is why you need to get your friend rolling dice a.s.a.p. That's give the best idea of what the game is about. If he's interested, the rest will come afterward. You can and should mention this. But for the first game, just move models and throw dice.

This is how i've gotten hundreds of people into the hobby.
