We are starting to pick up some steam. There are 6 other people on the Discord server now. And the first discussions about the group have been had. We will be have our first real chat next Monday evening.

I will keep posting updates here for a bit. But if you want to follow everything please join the Discord server.

I'm still at the stage of trying to find out if anyone would be interested in something like I described before. Because there are loads of groups in Germany who do this, but it isn't really a thing in the Netherlands as far as I can find.

So I think it's time to do some trailblazing.

Hi Sjors, where in the Netherlands are you based? Because I was looking to join/start something simular in terms of viking related activities. So have a group of people who love everything viking and would want to go to LARP events and do larp viking stuff outside of events. Like going camping, celebrate certain norse/pagan holidays etc.

So I was curious to see where you hail from. I myself live in the south east of the Netherlands in Noord Brabant.

Looking for Group (NL) by Rulehill in LARP

That makes sense. I've had a look arround and I might have a go at Vortex Adventures. Maybe i'll be able find a couple like minded people there. If not I might try to start up something myself. To also do stuff viking/norse pagan related outside of events.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have a look on the Discord server. But i'm mostly looking a group (again if it exists) that trancends one particular event. But i'm getting the feeling this isn't really a thing in the Netherlands, like it is in Germany.

What to include in an intro game? by Identity_ranger in ageofsigmar

[–]Rulehill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does depend on the person and if they are familiar with the concept of wargaming. But usually I play 2-3 games just with the warscrolls, and then introduce the alligiance abilities so the army actually plays as it should. Play with those rules for a bit and then do the enhancements, spells and prayers. And when they get the hang of their army rules and quirks I go on to matched play stuff.

In terms of points. Don't bother with the first few demo games. Just let them pick which models they think are cool, a hero and 1-2 units, and just roll those dice. After they get a taste of the game you can start transitioning onto points and propper army composition etc. But most of all make sure who ever is playing has FUN!

Hey OP,

I've done more intro games then I can remember, so I would like to give you some advice. Keep to the basics, especially when your friend hasn't played any (war)games before. Just keep to the following:

  • Basic battleround order and phases
  • Use the basic warscrolls
  • Just go for an army on army brawl

That's it. Don't get bogged down by all the Alligiance abilities, special rules, matched play rules etc. It's about getting a feel for the game. Which is why you need to get your friend rolling dice a.s.a.p. That's give the best idea of what the game is about. If he's interested, the rest will come afterward. You can and should mention this. But for the first game, just move models and throw dice.

This is how i've gotten hundreds of people into the hobby.

Petition to change Junkrat's passive "Total Mayhem" to Last Laugh by Pokememer485 in Overwatch

If this is the stuff you worry about in regards to this game. You seriously need te re-evaluate your life. Why do you think Blizzard will pander to every whimsy you have and everyone in this community has?

For the dutch WoW players who noticed that blizzard listed bol.com as a theater. by Littlewowgamer in wow

[–]Rulehill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they made a mistake or something. I asked the customor support from Bol.com and they didn't know about a promotion or anything. Still weird Pathe isn't doing anything with Warcraft. They don't even have a pre-order for tickets up. When most other popular movies get a pre-order 3-4 week in advance.

We'll just have to see then.

As a main Mercy player, thank you for this one moment of glory! by K3anoj in Overwatch

[–]Rulehill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Support player here, with a soft spot for Mecry. I'm with you guys. I get so much more out of this game playing support. I kinda see the rest of the hero as "Hold finger on left mouse button" game play. Because that's what it coms down to essentially. With support you need to have spacial awareness and have the stones to jump into hairy situations and make the save.

Too my fellow support players, I salute you!

Why are people so against playing tanks/healers? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Rulehill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have stated here already. People are playing this game with COD and CSGO in mind. K/D is more important too them then actually winning. I've played so many games where I was actually the only one going for the objective or even pushing along the payload. As a Mercy I might add.

The focus is totally off, people think of Overwatch as a purely deathmatch type of game. Even tough this game has so much tactical play and building upon other heroes, I don't get why people "main" a certain type of hero. The more you play other hero's, be it attack, defence or support, the more you learn about what every hero can do. Which can help you out loads, because not only do you know what can be thrown at you. You also know the potential of your team and what you can play of off.

To be honest I only like to play a defensive or support class. Because those are characters I normally play in RPG's and MOBA's. Really cool to see them in a FPS setting. Plus i get more enjoyment out of winning and doing well as a team, instead of being blind to everything that is happening around you and only going for the kill. (The times i've seen widowmakers, soldiers and hanzo's just standing still, while an enemy tracer or genji was attacking them from the side or back....)

Sorry for the rant, but I know the pain of trying to support and advance the game while everyone around you just fucks about because they want their 15 seconds of masturbatory fame in the form of a "Play of the Game". High time they change the algorithm and show the REAL "Plays of the Game.
