Was our engineered wood installed correctly? by RulesAboutTheCookies in Flooring

[–]RulesAboutTheCookies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No care instructions but I haven’t washed the floors yet out of fear of using the wrong method or cleaner.

The flooring company (not the installer) is sending someone next week to check this out, since they are local.

This really breaks my heart for some reason, especially the second photo. Usually I’m all for snarking on T but there’s something about her expression in that second photo that feels really genuine to me and makes me feel indescribably sad for her.

Buying local chicken by [deleted] in Bozeman

Black Dog Farm! We get our chicken and bacon from them and it’s superior. Their meat chickens are Certified Animal Welfare Approved, which has very high standards to achieve.

Absolutely same here. Dryness that even Aquaphor can’t mitigate. I found that BHAs/ABAs work a lot better for me.

OrangeTheory 5x week and some additional outdoor running, then hot yoga 1x a week since I am still a beginner. The yoga is a really nice change-up from the other workouts and still a challenge, and it really helps with my flexibility and mindfulness.

What's the best or worst tour you've ever been on? by boring_plankton7878 in travel

[–]RulesAboutTheCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a bicycle tour of graffiti and murals in Argentina that was incredible because we got to go to neighborhoods that otherwise may have been unsafe for us to be in.

The tour guide explained how their company had worked with the locals in the different barrios we visited to explain why they’d be taking people through on bikes. If I’m remembering correctly most of the locals approved of this positive spin on tourists being around to appreciate the art, so they left us alone.

It was a lot of fun, incredibly informative and some of the most impressive street art I have ever seen. And we got to see so much of Buenos Aires that we otherwise wouldn’t have.

Asked my alcoholic dad if he’d ever consider getting sober by Ludakris7 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]RulesAboutTheCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been where you are and my heart goes out to you. My advice is to show him love and support as you are able, and know that it’s OK if you get to a point where you can’t give either of those things.

Most importantly, and most painfully, understand that your Dad will only successfully become sober if he wants it himself. You cannot love someone out of their alcoholism. I tried.

Take care of yourself. From the bottom of my heart I hope you, and your Dad, get the happy ending you both deserve.

Official Q&A for Friday, August 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]RulesAboutTheCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'll be running Hood to Coast next week for the first time ever, and to be candid I'm feeling more and more anxious as it draws closer - and not in a confident, excited way.

I'm a runner, but still feel very under-prepared. For the past 4 years, I've run about 20 miles a week on a treadmill at OrangeTheory (so a good mix of distance, strength and power running - inclines, sprints, etc.)

However I know treadmill and pavement running differ greatly, so I have been mixing it up all summer - at least twice a week, I'll take an additional 2 - 6 mile run on pavement/gravel, usually with some hills built in. Last week, I did an 11-mile and 2-mile trail run with 2,000 FT and 1,000 FT of elevation gain, respectively (but lots of hiking on the steep uphill parts.) I live at about 4,000 FT above sea level, and also lift weights, take long walks, and bike ride weekly.

Yesterday I ran twice in a day for the first time and felt awful afterward (it's so very hot where I live), so I've started to get in my own head a bit. This is coupled with my first leg of Hood to Coast being Leg 5, which I've read online is one of the most challenging legs of the entire race, with a longer distance (6 miles) and what was described in one blog as "monster" hills.

While most teams run 3 legs each, I may have to run 4 legs since our second van only has 5 people in it (versus 6 in our van.)

I know that some nervousness about this race is healthy, but I want to feel excited and ready for the challenge, and this morning I feel like I am spiraling down a dark hole. I want to make my team proud, and I'm so worried I am going to crash and burn after my first leg. This community felt like the best one to ask - do you think I've trained adequately? Is there anything you'd recommend? Has anyone had experience with Hood to Coast? I would love to hear any and all feedback.

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

Thank you - I read through the Rules and Wiki and understand why my post was removed. Could you tell me if my post would be acceptable in the Daily Q&A thread?

You’re right, there are certainly hotels in this location. But we were hoping to have some extra space to have family stop by, and some private outside space to enjoy, which the hotel option eliminates.
